  1. Yes, we've stumbled upon another example of wonderful service - latex.

And Thailand is the greatest exporter in the world. Just everyone ought to figuring out a way to use latex, nature's gift. (Must be the manufacturing process that makes it expensive here?) Safe, reliable, and environmentally sound, it gives great service.

And once the rubber trees are out of latex it makes great furniture. After all it is part of the "oak" family. Some fantastic example on the Ban Tawai Rd.

  2. That's impossible. Yingluck "promised" there would be no flooding this year.

You win today's prize for most original comment. Well done. Your prize is a course in English Comprehension. I hope you enjoy it. Once again, well done.

25 people clicked like to my post compared to your 3 supporting my "poor grammar". The point is the floods and the governments lies, not my lack of snobbery.

  3. Bully-boy behaviour is all that the knuckle-draggers of the Red Shirt movement know.

Collectively, they remind me of a spoilt three-year-old -- if they don't get what they want, they smash something and blame somebody else.

Touche. Spoilt little brats that never learnt to think for themselves.

Blow me, the grammar (grandma) police are out in force. Sorry I'm not one of you TEFL underpaid English teachers. I am however a highly paid offshore worker who couldn't give a toss what you think of my "comprehension"...tongue.png

He runs a jet ski operation!

So the TEFL was just to fill in the gaps during low season?

Calm down, get your BOP under control and count to 10

    lol.

  6. The Thai's don't do prevention well at all (if at all), they are masters at the use of band aids (albeit cheap non stick ones). Moving the capital is of utmost importance, but they'll wait until it's too late. The capital of Lanna was moved due to serious flooding 700 plus years ago, sad they they haven't learnt anything from their past.

  8. Wow double is a lot although at the current prices , it's still doable for the quality as it is difficult to find good quality Chinese food in CM.

Fujian would have easily cost double of that although the ambience is obviously targeted at a richer clientele

Anyone can cook Chinese ...cooking quality Chinese food does involves a good chef and they don't come cheap with the fresh seafood ingredients ...

It's not Chinese, it's Thai Chinese.

    What's the difference?

  9. I'm very happy here - just won't be going to Doi Inthanon again or any other place that I consider is ripping farang off. Have you been to Doi Inthanon? if so tell me what I missed that is worth that money.

Nothing. But it's relatively popular with Thai tourists, as the highest peak of the country is there. We all know it's all pretty average. And in the dry season it's all dead, and little water in the waterfalls.

The fact the highest spot in Thailand has no proper lookouts as such has and always will baffle me. The only decent lookouts are from the twin Chedis, but they're not at the top anyway. But it is Thailand, and all they really want is a photo with the highest point sign. Waterfalls and scenery are worth the trip though. Never been charged the tourist price either (with Thai driving permit).

  10. Footpaths.

    Good idea,+ bicycle paths too.

Forgot the biggest one of all. Parks with playgrounds in them. The only option kids have to play here is indoors at the malls. The playgrounds at Suan BuakHaard and Huay Tung Tao are a disgrace to say the least.

Kids don't seem to play anymore, unless an on-line computer is involved. sad.png

Parents to blame for that then. My kids are out and about, and love it. Take away the devices and they are fine.

  11. doubt it... there are 1000s of 'square' moated cities in the world

The first of them being Solomans temple. Almost identical to Chiang Mai's layout.

AHHH that's it! Chiang Mai was copied from the City Four Square and so we are really living in the New Jerusalem? which means after the 2012 December 21st gig we will be the only one's saved right? just us Chiang Mai'ers blink.png

    Bingo.

Chiang mai does mean "new city"...555

  12. Barbecues Galor / BBQ Thai on the canal rd , near Ton Payom market has a good range of smoking chips and accessories. I've also seen them at Rim Ping Meechok recently. All imported but still reasonably priced.

Barbeques Galor / BBQ Thai sounds like a place I need to find. I am not familiar with that area or Ton Payom market so can you provide a little more directions? Canal road OK. Left or right side? About how far out? I have been looking for a decent BBQ for a while now but I am not about to pay the huge prices for the gas-fired ones at Rinping Meechok. Something like a standard Weber would be great.

They are imports, so not cheaper than Rim Ping, they are the real deal however. Had by beef master for 8 years now, still as good as the day I got it, so good value in that sense.

    Here's the map. http://www.bbqthai.com/map.htm

Then again I could be wrong. Have we talked about the sausage McMuffin's?thumbsup.gif

No, but we should, delicious they are, especially the double sausage and egg McMuffin, followed by a crispy hash brown and washed down with freshly brewed coffee. And you don't even need to get out of your car (thanks to the new drive thru branch on the super highway). Thank you Khun Ronald, you legend.

    Will have Jok tomorrow instead...smile.png
