EDIT: I decided to look up info on range. It was interesting. I found this:

This is an incredible distance that a fired round can travel.  Granted, accuracy is severely compromised but it is still a lethal round if it comes in contact with someone.  The 45ACP is a big fat round but will still travel 1800yds (1645 metres) which is very far.  The 30-06 can travel just over 5 kilometres.  It is a popular hunting round.  The .223 Remington (5.56mm) is the most common round carried by US forces in their M4 rifles.  It's also the caliber found in the civilian counterpart in the US called the AR-15.  This round can travel just over 3.5 kilometres.

Anyway, guns can be very dangerous when used in a reckless manner.  This Brit should have been locked up and then deported!

  2. I had the Pfizer injections in mid-April and then again on 3 May.  I had no side affects at all except for a sore arm at injection site that lasted for about 24-30 hours.  Nothing since then.  Despite being 62 years of age, I went out the next day and rode my road bike 65 kilometres at my normal pace.

When I was involved and incarcerated they did, end of. I don't think the system has changed but it could certainly have been stopped temporarily due to Covid.

I know what I am talking about especially when it comes to the Thai penal system, having been on the wrong end of it.

I would suggest doing your upmost best to stay out of the Thai prison system, especially as an incarcerated guest!  What is it with LFC supporters ending up in a Thai prison?

    Sorry, I am not wrong.

Contraband confiscated from prisoners has never been publicly destroyed as you claimed.

Personal contact visits do not happen in Thai prisons nowadays.  That article was from 2008.

What is your personal experience and witnessing of contact visits? Where and when did those contact visits that you witnessed take place?   My experience is of being a prisoner in Thailand, much more recently than when that old article was published, and volunteering as a visitor. I know exactly how visiting works...from both sides of the screens.

Does anyone remember what happened if you got to the airport and didn't have 500B for the departure tax, back in the day?

I only every paid it once on my first visit, but I still kept 500B at the back of my wallet for a couple of subsequent visits for fear of not having the money to leave.

I remember it well.  Always kind of a PITA to make sure you had it with you.

  6. I've brought a lot of bikes into and out of Thailand many times over the years.  I've used both soft sided and hard sided cases.  I wouldn't suggest using a cardboard bike box as that might trigger the customs people into thinking the bike is new as that is what new bikes arrive in.  Regardless of which case I use I always pack the bike in foam pipe insulation on the top tube, down tube, seat stays, forks, etc. for both road and mtn bikes.  I also use bubble wrap for the derailleurs and handle bars.  My word of advice is if you are buying a new bike abroad make sure to get out and ride it a few times.  Make sure you get it a little bit dirty.  Don't clean the bike before packing.  You want it to look used!

  7. My luk krung kids were born in the US.  We registered their births with a Thai consulate and they issued a Thai birth certificate.  Then we applied for Thai passports which they received in about three weeks time.  It was much easier doing it in the US then in Thailand.  They are both on the tabien bahn  They have entered and exited many times over the years on their Thai passports.  When they turned 15 they obtained Thai ID cards.  Neither of them have served in any military and went to university in the US.  They have travelled a few times to Thailand in their 20's and no one ever said a thing about Thai military service.  Now in their 30's I really doubt the Thai military will want them.  The oldest one owns property in Thailand but both live and work in the US.
