After 20 years i've yet to see any Thai 'Workman' that makes a proper job of just about anything you could name. They have no teaching of Job Skills, it's all Monkey see, Monkey do and dare you ask for the slightest change to anything the answer is usually....''Can only do one way ''. They have no pride in their quality of workmanship and it's only ever about Money....grab the Money and away to the next job.

Without Booze, Bars and Women it's easy to live on 40k., Or; you can be like one of my Old Friends, skint every day and hoping his Pals will buy him the odd Beer and/or Meal, Nowhere to live he can call his own place to rest and no Dosh to get back home, Sad state of affairs but have to say people get theirselves into such situations often.

Such Moaners don't understand that ten years ago you could be at Chiang Mai Immigration for a whole day to get served. Thankfully things have improved a lot thanks mainly to when Big Joke got a grip of things. Of course; there is still plenty of room for improvement but things here take hours instead of minutes, days instead of hours weeks instead of days, and months instead of weeks !

Thai Tax on UK pensions
trainman34014 replied to Humpy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Seems every Tax Office in Thailand has its own idea's but mine told me no Law has been passed through Parliament and therefore nothing has changed until further notice. I just recieved a Cheque for my Tax Refund today so all is well as far as i am concerned. I have been told that we Expats have a Tax allowance of 520,000 Baht before any 'assessable Income' is applied. -
Thailand Tourism Shake-Up: New Safety Focus After Quake
trainman34014 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Chinese are doing what they have been told to do by their Communist Government and that's the reason the numbers have been falling for the last two years. I have friends in China who tell me that the CCP have issued various warnings about visiting Thailand and suggestions about supporting the Chinese Economy by holidaying inside China. As usual Thailand thinks a bit of Sticking Plaster will improve the situation ! -

Quake Jolts Thai Tourism: Rising Concerns Over Safety
trainman34014 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Horrid truth is that less then 10% of Buildings in Bangkok are Quake Proof; the main reason for this is that Bangkok is not high on the list of vulnerable to Earthquakes. However; as time passes this is likely to change as The Planet is finding ways to punish Man for causing so much change and turmoil right across the World. Future Generations will be a lot weaker, sicker and die earlier than the long lives many of us are now enjoying owing to many different factors, all Man made. Babies are now being born with Microplastics in their bodies and will develop Cancerous symptoms before they are even Teenagers. -

Thai Tourism Grapples with Declining Chinese Visitors
trainman34014 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
While Thailand contunues to mark time other neighbouring Countries keep improving things for Visitors, especially safety and security. The thinking here (what thinking there is) only ever revolves around collecting money for the already over rich few and never spending any to improve the 'Experience' of Tourists. In other words it's just same old, same old. Chiang Mai is supposedly Thailand's Second City but drive around The Moat and sample the disgusting Road Surfaces, lack of decent Pavements for People to walk on safely, drivers intent on NOT STOPPING at Pedestrian Crossings etc and Local Police Force not in the least interested in Safety Matters for Tourists. Will things ever improve ? Not while the Country continues to be run by the old Archaic Dinosaurs running it now !
