I think it's true to say you don't know Thailand until you've lived here for a number of years...in my case 21. There are many plus's for us living here and there a quite a few minus's as well but let's face it; wherever you are, or live, there are things you will like and dislike. For Tourists; they only have a short time to make an overall decision about anywhere they go and if they are unfortunate enough to have two or three negative experiences during a week or two, then they will form a negative opinion overall. Such is life.......next Tourists opinion please !

I've made it to 80 without a single serious Health issue, i excercise every day, eat a good diet, have had two Medical Examinations every year for the last 20 years, don't drink and don't smoke. I would like to surpass my Grandmothers life of 97 but hope to make at least 90. However; we are all in the hands of God and right now i am just very happy to wake every morning. With reference to us 'living in the Jungle', i believe that is much better than living in the lousy weather of Northern Europe where cold and damp ground works its way up through our legs to our entire body. I came here to live my last years in a warm environment.

Until Thai's are taught properly from the start of the learning process and properly tested to obtain a License then nothing will get any better. For most of them it's like a game of Bumper Cars, they are lousy judges of speed and distance too and nobody ever rams it into their heads that Speed Kills. Pedal to the Metal is the order of the driving day and to hell with all other Road Users, they become Maniac Monsters behind the wheel, Give them any stretch of Straight Road and they think it's a Runway to take off on. My Thai Wife has given up driving completely at 60 as she has lost her confidence and says that Thai Drivers have got worse as the years have passed and she is scared now like never before.

This afternoon we were coming home when a Motorbike carrying four Young Men, Helmetless of course, pulled out of the frontage of a row of Shops, cut in front of me, jumped a red light further down the road and vanished up a side soi. Lad on the back was carrying and drinking Beer from a blue 'camouflage' carrier bag, so often seen that they may as well not bother with any bag at all ! Where were the Cops ? Nowhere to be seen of course.

Monks....just Men wearing Orange Robes. I see them eating in Restaurants and pushing Trolleys around in Supermarkets full of Beer and Spirits. They are nobody special !

Bunch of Jokers. In all the Local Rural Bars around our way the majority sitting there every evening are already 'intoxicated' before they get there. Furthermore; the Local Cops are fairly often among them !!
