Meanwhile; i have been riding my Bike around all the Local Villages in my area of Chiang Mai for 20 years now and every day i get lots of nice smiles, some grimaces, the odd 'stare at the Alien' stuff and now and again the positively evil look. In the Local Shops, Markets, Banks etc i am always treated well and with respect because that is the way i treat everyone i meet. At Chiang Mai Immigration Office i have always received polite and reasonably effiecient Service year in and year out, my only complaint being the accute lack of Parking Space for us, 'The Customers'. However; if you look around places like Supermarket Car Parks you will almost always see that all the spaces nearest the Entry Points are filled with the Cars belonging to Staff, who should be told to leave their Cars furthest away to enable Customers first Parking Priority. It has always seemed to me that most Service Establishments here consider themselves to be more important than the Customers that they need, a kind of 'Reverse Mentality'. ! Such is Life; nobody is ever coming to save us, so it's a case of 'Like it or Lump it'....or.....Leave it !

Of course; we will never know the whole story, the history of the relationship, but you can bet it's been a turbulent one, as is so often the case here because a lot of the Men never 'Grow Up' and never treat any Woman properly with Respect and Dignity.

They will just charge more to their own for 'Customer Services', surely the poorest on The Planet, and jack up all the ATM Fees yet again !

Their own fault in many ways; will not stand up and fight, only worried about losing the sh+++y job they have while the Boss and Family live highly off of their sweat. Brought up and Educated by Schools and Monks that they 'must know your place' in a Fuedal Patronage Society that doesn't give one iota of thought or care for those 'below them'. Sad Stuff.

Customs not too bad but 'Excise' likely to grab you and search your Luggage for one Smokestick too many or one Minature bottle of Spirits you got free with your Litre. Woe betide you if you have a Bottle of anything that's not in a sealed bag, Capital Offence ! Down to the Bank (Thieves) and plonk your Farang Card in for Cash and Wallop, 250 Baht per shot, when other Countries in the Region are charging much less or are free in certain places. Greed dominated Government and Tourist Industry is killing them slowly and serves them right !

Going back 40 years. my Deceased FIL knifed a 'friend' to death after a drinking session. He was given 8 years and actually did 3. He was told he had to pay 10,000 Baht to the Widow of the 'friend' but was Potless and never paid a single Baht In later life he told me he had no reccollection of what happened and he felt no remorse at any time. Such is the cheapness of life in Thailand.
