  1. The best and safest car in Thailand, this would be my choice and I hope this link works

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDoRmT0iRic&sns=em

I would just love one of these in Phuket, mor anywhere in Thailand for that matter. And it's bullet proof !

    SDM

How is that the safest car in Thailand when nobody can buy one (except the Military) even if they were for sale here.

  2. The V40 is nice but around 1.7 million new + also has Knee airbags, but for 1/2 that price you can get a Proton Preve 2 airbags, 2 side airbags and 2 curtain airbags and also rated 5 Stars in the cash test..

New Mazda 3 also and has a 5 start rating..

Top model Focus also has same amount of airbags..

Also got to look out for Thai built models, sold here the Top Nissan Pulsar has only 2 airbags, yet the export models have side airbags

The Mazda 3 that was tested was not a Thai built vehicle. Iam sceptical that it has a 5 star rating....

Kinda like the Ford Ranger, It has a 5 star rating, but not the ones for the domestic market.

  3. 120 Kph, seriously low converted to MPH now thats really dangerous is it.?.. So Im supposed to restricy my speed to a Nackerd Mini Bus. That aint going to happen, ill drive to road conditions not some speed set by a twep who knows nothing bout driving safely and just wants the Fine Money .sad.png

Seriously pathetic attitude. On the upside the faster you are going the quicker you will die when some twep loses control in the other lane and takes you out cause he too was driving too fast.

  4. Ford imported some Territories about 18months ago. Retail in Oz was $36,000..... Retail here was 3 million.

We both know damn well Ford Thailand did not pay Ford OZ retail for them but yet the dealership sales price here was rediculous....... somehow I reckon there is more to it than a flat excise rate of 40%.

I wish you the best of luck though and if you can get a HSV here for that money I too will seriously look into myself.

  5. I only skimmed through the thread so forgive me if this has been repeated.

Why not import a HSV from Australia. They have a free trade agreement. Yes you pay 40% excise but other duties are nullified due to the agreement.

A lot of things excluded from that agreement including 2nd hand cars.

    New, relatively no problem.

I'd love a new HSV GTS.

So if it's a 6000cc would I still be exempt for displacement?

If I have done my calculations correctly then a new HSV would be around the 4mb mark.

Not bad and half the price of the Camaro, right hand drive and loads of power.

the new HSV GTS is a $95,000 (2.8 million baht) vehicle. I do not for one second believe you will have it cleared customs and in you garage in Thailand for 4 million baht.

  6. Hmmmmm, the most generous, well overall I think the most generous thing must be me..............laugh.png

    examples please, tranny am.

Weeeeeeell, I blew most of my dosh taking a family out of poverty with a smile, I accept anyone, rich, poor, Thai, farang as a friend, unless they fugg me about, and they have the pleasure of hearing me sing...................w00t.gif ...........on many occasions............laugh.png

I thought it would be the amount of lives you have saved with your tyre pressure advice.

  7. "Male medical students are wanted for their academic intelligence and female models for their good looks."

the assumption is that the baby will have will have the intelligence of the medical student

and the good looks of a female model.

but what if the baby has the intelligence of the female model

and the good looks of the medical student?

Reminds me of that Chinese bloke who's very pretty wife gave him some extremely ugly children... turns out she was born pig ugly herself but had had a few operations to improve her appearance.

  8. The bottom line is can she sue me for these debts from a loan shark, its not an official loan with my signature on it and make any sort of a problem for me legally or at immigration?

Legally I think you are ok.

I would be more concerned those debts though as you don't want them knocking on your door at 5am and smashing your knee caps.

  9. When you divorce any assets and debt that were acquired during the marriage will be split 50/50.

Are the debts legitimate ones or ones that came through a loan shark ?

Her debts are from gambling, being lazy not working and all from loan sharks

Lets hope she has not told them you are the guarantor for the loans.

Last I heard she was blacklisted from the sharks but even if my name was use as guarantor I am sure they are not holding there breath for me to pay up??

They will want their money back and not care who it comes from.

    Why would you want that?

My bad. I missed the "Not"... post has been edited.

  12. WOW - maybe I will give Lion Airlines a big miss. I wonder how old was the co-pilot. Sad end to his flying career.

Seriously, do you know anything about the airline itself or you just typed something.blink.png Obviously such a fatality does not happen due to lack of safety of aircraft. happy.png

Exactly: VERY WELL SAID. Even worse is that this comment your refer to is made by a well known moderator.annoyed.gifannoyed.gif

Are moderators not allowed to voice their own opinion ?

  13. I hope you're right for so many people on this board that it's all smoke and mirrors, but fact is that NOBODY at this point knows if it is so or not, and that include our local troll Jsixpack.

The future will tell how serious it is, but nobody will lose his property since I think the courts will allow a certain period to get legal.

Pity thing is that when a few thousand properties are on fire sale, the prices will drop as a rock, and that will include condo sales in foreign name and rental prices.

It is all scary stuff, not just for property owners, for everyone.

Nobody in their right mind would want to stay in Thailand if these things come to pass, even the renters would want out with all their possessions, cars, bikes, furniture even their dogs and animals would be abandoned . The decline would be remarkable, guys who have known each other for years would suddenly vanish.

But these things have happened before ,so just getting used to the idea that it will all ba a'changin',easier when young, not so getting old.

Iam a renter (because I cannot own land in my own name).....

Why would I not want to stay ? not as though my life will change because people that have houses in dodgy companies lost their lot.

if you want to rent ,it will be from a Thai.

And if the Thai doubles the rent (because the farang houses are not there anymore) than you pay or leave.

Thais will buy all those farang houses and then start pressing you.

Or a new law forbids you to rent more than 30 days?

See who will be a renter then?

The day that happens will be the same day that we start seeing pink elephants flying overhead.

Funny you should mention the rent doubling though. I have been expecting that to happen for a few years now but my landlord seems to prefer to keep the house rented rather than empty like all the others in my little village that are advertised for double what I pay.

  14. The next worst thing I see is people dining, spending hundreds of baht, and being unwilling to even leave a 20 baht tip. Come on guys. It does not mean anything to you, but it sure means something to them. So, why not?

I earnt my money by working for it, not waiting on hand outs. so should they.

That is certainly your choice. But by the providence of your birth you were able to earn enough to come and live in an exotic country of your choice, and live well, at that. They do not have that good fortune. All I am suggesting is that it does a man's heart good, to be kind to others. And the tip of under $1 is not going to affect your life too dramatically. It might help theirs. But, the choice is yours to make.

The Thais I know in the US don't tip....ever. Service people rely on these tips to survive as they do not make a living wage.

The Thais that are there, by the providence of their birth, are able to earn enough to go to an exotic country of their choice and live well. Many Americans do not have this good fortune.

I suggest that these stingy people follow the customs of their host country and have enough respect to contribute to the well being of the country's citizens by giving them the proper amount they deserve for their services.

If Americans never came here for R&R during the Vietnam War tipping would not exist here.
