  1. You do know that Pizza Company is owned by the Minor Food Group which is owned by a Thai person don't you.

Bill Heinecke may have "Thailand" stamped on the front of his passport but he still doesnt look very Thai to me.

What are you saying ???? A new law coming out that says you must not only be Thai, but now you must LOOK Thai ????55555

+1 William Heinecke is Thai and this for a long time already. I know many farangs that are Thai.

@Spoonman - You are wrong - Minor Food is owned by Minor International and the Heinecke family controls 60%. The other shares are held by Banks on behalf of nominees and his HM has 2% in shares as well. Minor Food was delisted on the SET a long time ago.

My bad, I should have said Pizza Company is owned by Minor Group which is a 100% owned subsidiary of Minor International. A company which was founded by William Heinecke who a Thai person.

  2. I hope you're right for so many people on this board that it's all smoke and mirrors, but fact is that NOBODY at this point knows if it is so or not, and that include our local troll Jsixpack.

The future will tell how serious it is, but nobody will lose his property since I think the courts will allow a certain period to get legal.

Pity thing is that when a few thousand properties are on fire sale, the prices will drop as a rock, and that will include condo sales in foreign name and rental prices.

It is all scary stuff, not just for property owners, for everyone.

Nobody in their right mind would want to stay in Thailand if these things come to pass, even the renters would want out with all their possessions, cars, bikes, furniture even their dogs and animals would be abandoned . The decline would be remarkable, guys who have known each other for years would suddenly vanish.

But these things have happened before ,so just getting used to the idea that it will all ba a'changin',easier when young, not so getting old.

Iam a renter (because I cannot own land in my own name).....

Why would I not want to stay ? not as though my life will change because people that have houses in dodgy companies lost their lot.

You might think you can isolate yourself from it all, impossible.Every conversation, every thought process is given to the situation that a fair few are caught up in,if all this goes ahead I feel sorry for them ,I do.

They have been the bedrock of the expat community, someone putting down roots, and others following, sort of balances out the temporary renters

Sure to follow a purge like this are visa issues, compulsary medical insurance issues, the things quoted above do not come singularly

Done it and got the T shirt, even HM govt. got involved in the past. A sad long drawn out ending. Once what was a thriving expat community reduced to a bitter sadness

Been here for 8 years with the same employer (that is Thai owned) and my house is rented from a Thai.....

I don't foresee how I will be affected with the clampdown on dodgy company owned property.

  3. Someone please wake me up when there is a credible report of one farang losing his private house due to this new enforcement; otherwise it is just another smoke and mirrors crackdown

  4. My wife is a Thai national; I am a USA national. We live in each country roughly six months per year. But the difference in the way we are treated by each other's native country is night and day. My wife travels in and out of the USA on her Thai passport never needing a Visa. She can work, own property, own businesses, go to school, whatever. She is protected against overt discrimination and welcomed as a tax-paying, contributing part of society. But no matter how long we are married, nor how long we are in Thailand, I can never do any of those things. We are both college educated experienced professionals; but she is welcomed and wanted in my country, and I never will be in hers. Xenophobic or not, it's just plain dumb.

Cannot believe this, Travels in and out of the USA on Thai Passport never needing a visa, very special lady here. Please explain how this happens, if you have an explanation
She probably holds a permanent resident card.

Means she had to get married in the US.- but again- if the guy is married to her in Thailand-he won't have those same benefits as offered in the US.

Namely coming to Thailand with no Visa- ability to work legally , buy land................................ It makes ya wonder!

Nothing stopping the Husband to become a Thai citizen, then he will not need a visa or a work permit.

  5. From Klang turn right onto suk road. A few hundred metres down on the right is a showroom with flash cars/jetskis and what not on display.... right next door to that is a panel beating shop. they can sort you scratches.

How did you purchase a vehicle from next year ?

  6. Shoot themselves in the foot because of silly childish laws.

I hope TOYOTA and HONDA and PIZZA COMPANY and every foreign company slam the door and move on.

SAVE FACE LOSE MONEY new Thai slogan.

You do know that Pizza Company is owned by the Minor Food Group which is owned by a Thai person don't you.

Maybe you should educate yourself before posting next.

The "Thai" person who owns Minor Food Group and The Pizza Company is William Heinecke a US Born citizen who later gave up his US Citizenship in 1991 and became a Thai Citizen.

Is a Thai citizen not Thai these days ?

I happen to be a shareholder in Minor Food Group and know who the real owner is. And so does everyone else. An American who became a Thai through connections and who his partners are. I cannot mention names here.

Thankyou for confirming the owner is Thai.

  8. First farangs are being blamed of working illegally and trying to avoid paying taxes then you go to a lawyer and ask how to set up a proper business and you are told that you need to have 4 nominees and pay every month for their social security. No matter if they show up or not, since you have no need of those 4 people for a one man business you do as told, as the lawyer says in Thailand this is "illegal legality" laugh.png .

Now this is also not possible thus back to the illegal working and not being allowed to pay taxes here or go to the neighboring country. No other choice.

Why would the business have to pay social security for the nominees ?

Are you confusing them with employees perhaps....... you should educate yourself before posting again.

  9. No dealer is going to give you a 50% discount on those accessories. also I don't think Ford do a snorkel and car cover as an accessory so you will need to source those from a 3rd party.

They show one in the back of my brochure. Probably way overpriced. I asked about the stainless steel roll bar at the CM Ford dealer. I laughed when he quoted the price, & even the salesman thought it best to look at accessory shops. Not surprisingly, Ford didn't have any in stock, & yet to see one on a Ranger.

there is non listed on the microcat so what ever the dealer has will be aftermarket.

  10. You can import a secondhand car if you are prepared to throw enough money at it either legally or in brown envelopes under the table.

Now that is strange because in post #6 YOU say the following

Pretty sure you cannot even get import approval anymore (you need this before you load it).

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/752748-who-can-import-a-car-for-me-or-walk-me-through-it/?p=8261592

So now you can't even agree with yourself anymore.

You know what I meant so stop twisting my words to suit your own agenda.

Post #6 is correct in that you cannot officially import a vehicle if the CURRENT rules/guidelines are followed, are you disputing that ?

IF you have coin and connections it still can be done, are you disputing that ?

Yes I am disputing that untill you deliver proof of one second hand car that was imported in the past 2 years.

And I'm not twisting your words. I posted the complete post as you have posted it.

  11. Jmccarty pointed out in post #44 already that a new car can be imported.

If you want to play parrot, up to you, I suggest you repeat it a few more times then.

This thread is about importing a second hand car, which is made clear already that it can't be done.

  12. I know someone who imported a new Shelby. It can be done if you have the dollar.

Read post #44. The OP's car isn't new.

    and...

  13. Sending funds home with Thai paypal is not possible, getting money from my Siam account into paypall does not work.

I would look at changing banks then as I have no problem putting money into my Australian bank account by sending money from my Thai paypal account to my Australian paypal account and then into my Australian bank account.

I had to do this a couple of times whilst I was sorting out my K-Bank account to let me transfer funds (via online banking) directly to my Aus account.

  14. My Competitive Driving was 10 Years of 400- 500 Bhp Ford n Evoes on Stage Forest stuff.Never new mutch about brakes,it was like juggling everything at once, and as long as the Handbrake was soft enough to flick the arse out was all i cared. Sometimes Boiling the Fluid, even Comp stuff in the mountains but nothing worth a sweat.Memories.All thats left.

Rally driving is fun, self funded or sponsored ?

  15. If you don't want a dog, just post some "Danger.....Dog" signs on your fence and gate as well as a few motion sensor lights on the outside of the house.

great if they are strangers. But what about the people who suss out you have no dog?
Just get a recording of a barking dog and play it from time to time so people hear it biggrin.png

connect the playing device to a motion sensor, when it detects movement the dogs start barking.

  16. Don't try to import it, American "Muscle cars" is "cheap" new here (Compared to BMW's and such), You can buy a brand new Camaro ZL1 for less than 5,500,000 Baht

A challenger is cheaper than a new Volvo, 3,900,000 Baht.

    A BMW M6 is 14,000,000

Back in the states my Camaro is right around 1 million THB, here it is right over 3 million due to taxes...

it will be value + import taxes so 4 million is what it owes you..... might as well buy here.
