  1. Thanks for the links skybluestu,

Ive seen all of those, iam specifically after some info outlining this Electro-motor deal that from Richard-BKK's post make this sound like a hybrid scooter, from those links this electro motor is a new fandangled starter motor, see quote below.

Moreover, PCX will be the world’s first*2 125 cc model which will be equipped with the ACG starter which combines a cell motor and alternating current generator and helps achieve the compact engine size and significant reduction of starting noise.
  2. Other then having a fuel-injection, the Honda PCX 125i is also the first motorcycle with a cell-electro-motor, which makes sure that you the first away from the traffic lights... nothing beats the torque power of a electro-motor. When you on speed the gasoline engine will take over... (According to Honda, the stop and take-off is where automatic motorcycles/scooters consume most fuel)

Intersting stuff, ive googled it for more info but my key word skills are failing me....got a link to your source by any chance.

  3. I really can not imagine why anybody would want to TAKE a driving test in Thailand, Because for the sake of buying an International Driving Permit for £10-00. you do NOT need to take a driving test.... All you do is take a colour blindness test- just recognise different colours on a chart. A reaction test- just pressing a brake pedal when the tester presses a red light button and a depth of field test- just aligning two points together and then watch their road safety video. NO "driving " test or ANY qestions !!! You can even apply for an Int Driving Permit whilst in Thailand.

I did the theory test to renew my licence as flying home to get an IDP was not a viable option, only took a few hours and was free.

How much does a locally sourced IDP cost and how long does it take to get, i assume it is a legit one.

  4. Earlier this year I checked in for a flight to Malaysia. When they

X-rayed my baggage, they discovered a very small knife in my toilet bag about

which I had completely forgotten. Can not go on plane like that

OK, I said keep it here in a office, I collect it on the way back. Can not.

OK, give it to staff-security, I collect it at destination. Can not.

And since they managed to place ca. 1 mile of shops between baggage check in and X-ray, there is no way of going back to check in the baggage like I did years ago in an other airport.

So, by extortion, either throw the item away or do not fly.

After getting quite pi@#ed off I told them to cancel the flight.

I suppose this is called customer service around here. It makes flying an utter joy

one tries to avoid at all costs whenever possible.

Geebus, it musta been a rare knife made from unobtainium to be willing to cancel a flight over.

  5. I have been denied a confirmation of address at immigration. They said because i did not make an extension on my ED visa they could not give it to me.

Does anyone know how much time i have to renew the driving license? The lady at immigration thought that it had to be renewed within 1 month but she was not sure.

I just renewed mine it had expired in February 2008, because it had expired more than 12 months ago i had to do the theory test, i passed and was then given a 5yr licence.

I was under the impression if it had of expired less than 12 months ago it would have been a straight forward renewal with not test required.

  6. And as far as Mono shocks, the single spring on the Mios, Finos and Clicks appears to be the same size as the springs used on a Honda Wave that uses two springs in the rear. If it was larger and stronger, I'd say, okay...not too shabby. But I thihk both Yamaha and Honda built such bikes for smaller riders while having larger riders in mind for the Nouvo. And they employed a single shock because it was cheaper for them to do so.

You do realise springs can made with different rebound and stiffness rates dont you.

FWIW, I road a 125cc Suzuki Hayate 5 days a week to and from work for near on two years (50km total trip per day) The thing was flawless during this time, when i sold it had just over 25000km and other than regular book maintainence a battery and 2 sets of tyres i could not fault the thing, had plenty of power to move my 120kg lard ass along on Suk road @ 100km/h and had fantastic under seat storage, used to get (from memory) 110km per tank of fuel.
