  1. One would hope that those who are studying or working here are doing so on the appropriate visa.

They are. But visas run out, people change jobs, change schools, move to different parts of the country, etc. It affects people who are between visas. Many do border runs for a couple months, while waiting for new paperwork.

Well go and get a 60 day tourist visa then if you plan to stay whilst waiting on paperwork. you can extend that whilst in country if you need more time. not rocket science is it.

I'm not saying it's impossible. But it an added expense and a lot of wasted time for someone that just wanted to do it a couple times while waiting for paperwork. It is a big hassle for a lot of legit tourists too.

Which is why I hope this crackdown will fade away soon, and they will just limited to people who are doing this long term. They should be able to tell the difference between someone living here for years, and someone who does it a few times.

A legit tourist would have planned their stay and will have a visa to cover their stay.

In my opinion I think Thailand should completely get rid off the visa exempt arrival and force everyone that wants to visit go and get a visa.

  2. What a load of scaremongering <deleted> Shrimpy.

To the OP. buy the bike and get the book put into your name. if this process goes smoothly you will never have an issue to re-sell it at a later date. even if you have modified it.

Understand there are restrictions on modification's that can technically render the bike illegal to be ridden on public roads though and the primary one is loud exhausts, they attract un wanted attention.

Also if you paint the bike a different colour get the book up-dated as this too can create hassles when the police have you pulled over.

  3. or just start the engine and ride it there ? facepalm.gif

That's what I want to do, it's a PCX 150, I know my way around the centre of Bangkok, but Google and Bing maps give you directions using the tollways where you cannot use motorbikes. Maybe some poster can give me an idea how to get there, say from Victory Monument.

  4. What was the purpose of wearing the pin through immigration on your way to yet another visa exempt entry. was it to provide some visual palm grease to smooth the transaction or ?

And au revoir Spoonman - I have noticed from your previous posts that you enjoy stirring the pot whenever I post. I can't be bothered to read your posts if you cannot add anything constructive. So you join the blocked users.....

Ahhh your answer albeit lacking says a thousand words and as I suspected.

Thank-you for the confirmation, please be careful upon that glass pedestal you place yourself so highly.

  5. Just another point about balancing ALL the wheels, when you go for a service they swap the wheels around, rear to the front, front to the rear. thumbsup.gif

If they are not performing a new balance when they rotate I would look for another place to service my vehicle.

Never seen wheels being balanced during a service. Your place don't balance the rears anyhooooooooooo....blink.png

Well they should be re-balanced when rotating but in regards to my rears, they are balanced and I also get free rotate and balance every 10,000 km for the life of the tyres as well. I suggest you find a better place for yours.

Just because it is done does not mean it is necessary though.

  7. How Many Tire Shops you been in Gooney, apart from Bicycle Tire Shops...biggrin.png

Your childish behavior does not warrant an accurate answer Iam afraid. if you want to hold an adult conversation or ask an adult question you will need to start acting like one.

  8. I steer well away from anything that may be construed as a farang displaying royal insignia. A road strewn with many a prison sentence.

Surely not if you were officially awarded it? I know other foreigners who were also awarded this pin.

how would others know you were officially awarded it , Was a memo sent to all officials in Thailand notifying them of this ?

  9. Why can you buy a New Ride and the Wheels have loads of Stick on Balance Weight's. Then Buy New Tires and the Weights have all but gone. ?.... A question put to me today by a Chevy MU owner...never mind the Pistons hes a bit shocked.biggrin.png

    All 4 wheels ?

Rears dont need to be balanced but front do and unless they have managed a perfect combination they will need some lead to sort the balance.

  10. I feel sick at the thought of all that sugar, corn syrup artificial flavorings and colorings ,aspartame, phosphoric acid (commonly used for rust removal) need I go on? the E numbers perhaps? If you really looked what was in these things, you would stop drinking them

Most sodas are completely devoid of nutrition, and people buy it by the 2LT's at a time, and even worse give it to their kids, then wonder why they are so badly behaved

Flame away you soda drinkers lol

Do they sell 2lt bottle here ?. I don't recall ever seeing them.
