I have seen the Selfie sticks used with a mobile phone and activated by bluetooth that the phone has built in,

are there other simple / cheap ways to trigger a phone or a small pocket digital camera ?

I could see times where it would be nice to shoot pictures over a crowd or at an angle you would not normally see

but how would you trigger it ?

Are there any more add ons ? I have seen snap on lens adapters that go over the back of an iphone but that would not work on a digital camera

anyway I would love to hear the things you do with these monopods !

as far as sailing with Thai GF , has she been on a boat with you for days at a time yet ? and rough seas ?

Most of the local print/sign shops do their designs in Illustrator. Cheap and easy

Thanks, I have a sign shop I use and the graphics guy is good, but his english is not that good to try and explain to him when something does not look right ,

its hard to teach style or design flow like 1950s stuff was !

that is why I do not send it to India which is real cheap but soul less

what is required for a young thai lady 23 years old to get a Schengen visa by herself ? She has no job (student) , no assets (could put some $$$ in bank account to look good) and no kids

are any countries better to apply in ?

My friend would like to see Europe when she graduates from Uni next year , I have been to Europe 50 times but with a USA passport so no visa required.

But since I do not have an EU passport I do not know the rules and cannot apply for her in a EU country,

I can meet her in Europe and then we can travel together,

I know that she could probably never get a tourist visa to the USA and she would rather see some of Europe anyway.

I vaguely remember seeing a shop selling the new (old) ones on Sukhumvit Rd when I took the bus from Ekkamai Bus Station

just went out there, 2 shops on right after the canal after Soi 71 and before On Nutt left side heading out of town ,

the first shops owner speaks perfect english......but they did not have old style embroidery machine but did have nice commercial machines....

there was another place near soi 60-62 but the bus did not stop near there and I was headed back to check out the other 2 shops....

Hi....I have been trying to learn adobe illustrator but its a slow process , So I think its better to just pay a local to do it ,

I can transfer baht to his ATM account once we figure it out.....

I just need an old logo redrawn , I have a fussy picture to work with ,

it is just a ONE word name in an unknown font , probably hand drawn back then , black and white

I just need an adobe illustrator file (vector) I can use on adobe illustrator 5 , so I can make some Tshirts and maybe some flags

if that works out there are a few other small projects that also need doing ,

I enjoy "playing" with adobe illustrator , but there are so many options it is overwelming ,

anyway if you have a guy let me know ,

anything 220v 50hz will be a problem , plus things like TVs etc are so cheap in the USA

Sorry have had a phone with cam and internet, never used so what is the point ? had 2 different one both gave up within a year.

my phone is a Nokia bought from a local shop 499 baht, still works as good as the day I bought it 18 months ago.. works on True 3 G and present contract AIrock and ro;; S 199 baht a month.

The old simple phone appear to last near forever, my old Ericsson flip is 16 years old and works perfectly, just not of course 3G

I still listen to 60s rock and roll so 2007 is like yesterday !

and yes I did have a "shoebox" phone in 1989

So a 599 baht phone will be like the space age to me !

but really I just want a usable cheap phone that has camera etc.......

OHH and the 2007 original remark would have worked better with some smileys as I am sure that is what he ment.....

does anyone have the 599 baht phone being sold at 7-11 on True ?

If you are using it how good is it , does it have Camera, SD card slot ? Radio ?

and does it come unlocked so I can use in it Europe in a few months ? Easy to use in English ?

I am not looking for much , just that it works and hopefully unlocked

Or is there a better , easy to find at Tesco, Big C phone for the same basic price

the phone I have now is an old motorola flip phone that works great and I can drop it with no damage ,

but it does not have a camera and does not accept photos , so I am trying to move into this decade !

UPS , Fed EX and I think DHL all have special 25kg boxes at a fixed rate , last I checked it was 6-7000 baht per box

They supply the box you must use and it takes less than a week to arrive,

The post has surface mail , cheaper and SLOW , 10 weeks to the West Coast a few months ago

it might be cheaper to take it on the plane ! not sure what airline but it was $150 for an extra bag of 20kg , there may be a special deal for more

and lastly there might be a place to ship a Sq meter pallet and you pick up and clear customs in the USA

went hunting around in Chinatown today and did find one new Chinese copy machine but no USA - European - Japanese ones

the chinese one was 5 - 10 years old and never sold , not sure how bad the quality control was back then ,

these vendors are all over Bangkok , they are making a living , what will they do now ?

it might be a nice idea but why not regulate them some but save the jobs ,

easy for people with money to look down on these workers , and then go eat lunch and buy a shirt from them.....

There are 1000s of stalls , only a few sell porno etc , most sell food and clothes and trinkets , help them clean up their act , maybe have them all set up with same color stalls etc so it looks more organized ,

Education is the key , help them help themselves and make it look better

I have been searched many times when I opt out of the full body scanner.....

Somehow that makes you a suspect , a pat down and rubbing a cloth over you then putting it in a scanner for explosives,

it takes a bit of time and if they made everyone do it then it would add hours in line...

Are they also going to go thru all checked luggage and turn them on ?

I will be bringing chargers , "power blocks" etc because you know they will not have a way for you to get back computers or phones that will not turn on......

I hooked up my cheap "spy clock" today , just put it on the window sill by the front porch

I see the problem is it is too good , a branch on the tree moves and it takes a picture,

I had almost 1000 pictures in 6 hours almost filling a 2gb SD card ,

BUT,,,,,,the mail man showed up and it took very good pictures of him , good enough for a police line up !

So if you had it set up in a place with a still back ground it would work pretty good in sun light ,

you can put a GPS tracker on that new car you bought her too , hopefully it is in a color that will not clash with her ankle bracelet

and in the USA if you have On Star in your GMC car or truck it seems they can also spy on your conversations , I am sure they never would do that , it is the Land of the Free......

PS....and my GMC Van is too old to have On Star

The phonetic/phonemic alphabet can help with pronunciation, but it will take a bit of dedication to learn. There are many free apps available to help with the sounds.

I am on old guy and I like books and things you can listen too, just how my brain works , see it , hear it , repeat it and them maybe it will stick in my head ,

The problem with the English language if you cannot use Phonics is you think you are saying it correctly but it is not and you do not have anyone to correct you ,

I have the same problem with French , it looks to my English eyes that a word would sound one way , but French Phonics is not the same and it does not sound that way at all !

I am not trying to be an English teacher , I see how hard it is to really teach English and get the students to understand more than parroting the few words that you can teach them....

Since I am in the USA the hooked on Phonics Cds and books are easy to get second hand ,

I just do not know if it helps and most are aimed at young kids and not young adults

When you have the funds to stay many years here without work or study. And you are younger than 50. Why not go for the Elite card 5 year visa. Yes it's 500k. But it will maybe save you from doing 30 visa and border runs. Those would also cost a lot of money

and when they change the rules will they refund the unused balance ?

500k baht is about USA $15,000 , not chump change to most people , but OK ( $250 a month) if you could be sure it would still work in a few years ,

can you buy a "visa wife" for that much and pay by the year ?

I was wondering if anyone has used hooked on phonics to teach Thais how to pronounce unknown English words ?

I often have trouble understanding what they are trying to say in English , since most Thais learned by repeating an English word , often spoken by a non native English speaker teacher.

But if it is an unknown word they do not know how to "mouth" it out like we would ,

I know this is not perfect but phonics might help ,

I am talking about Thais with a medium level of University English ,

and has anyone used Hooked on Phonics "Master Reader" , I got one at a yard sale the other day for $5 and not the $139 list price

or are there other systems like this that work better for Thais......

Most of these programs are for English speakers trying to get better , or others learning in an English speaking country like the USA.

I just do not know if Hooked on Phonics works with a "Thai brain" and how they learn english which is not a tonal language like Thai.

and no I am not an English teacher , just trying to raise the level of English of the people around me....
