  1. We certain nationalities, mainly. But one of the lovable characteristics of Thais. Thai complaining is ignored unless social media (refuge in numbers) and big money (possibly as a result of social media exposure) is behind the complaint.
  2. Obviously still blind, there are no restos inside the bar complex, so in fact you never see customers of any nationality at your imaginary restos. And I had mentioned Central Festival (the mall, not your bar complex of the imagined same name) and you were talking about "the malls." Your mate's bar isn't named Central, by the way. Here's the point again; write down and try to remember. Yes, but we're talking present day and the normal "year" of reference is 2019 when T21 was and had been open. So, without going back, you have no idea if Chinese are patronizing the restos and are stuck in a time warp. Quite so, and though I'm aware of what happens on the ground re: Chinese in restos, you aren't, while fatuously insisting you are. Simple as that. I might also mention the seafood restos on Walking St., popular w/ Chinese. They don't actually all just parade down the street and back, contrary to our bigots.
  3. Thais put up with a lot more than you do, routinely. Things are quite busy nowadays as tourism and the economy pick up. Whinging doesn't help. Preparation and timing do. I bring along my tablet, waiting rooms don't phase me. Maybe check the T, man up.
  4. Very true, so I discovered in the gym. I found some light cotton T-shirts on Aliexpress that've become my faves after I got the size right. Have to be careful about online claims, as the supposed "cotton" turns out fake or not to be 100%. Pretty close is OK--have quite a few of those.
  5. Commonly worn. Have respect. Signals with whom you can have a good discussion about footy.
  6. Here? Not much thinking going on.
  7. Yes, they may well and do. But you wouldn't know, since you don't "frequent" the malls. No restos (or even Starbuck's, popular with Chinese) inside Central can be seen from your mate's bar in the complex on corner of Beach Road and Soi 9. LOL. You're just fixated on "herds" per TAT: ANF and blowing without observing firsthand. As @newnativesays, independent travelers now make up a majority. "Designated venues" may include the malls. T21 has a special tour bus disembarkation area where tour buses w/ Chinese, and Indians, pull up all day and let out the tourists for shopping. Saw Chinese in T21 today. No doubt the buses also find a way to let out tourists for shopping at Central as well.
  8. Having lived here more than 20 years, I know both expats and Thais pretty well. I speak basic Thai as well. You? And I've read the forums for at least 15. Sorry. Being "in" Pattaya for a holiday is far different than living here. Wrong again. Most everyone living here has "tried" it, probably multiple times. Yeah, been there, done it, quickly got over it, have other things to do more fun, don't permit others to define what's "fun" for us, don't need any "therapy" or need to provide "therapy" for water hooligans at OUR forced expense. Why should we? If it were just hooligan vs. hooligan as it should be, or just for a couple of days, nobody would much care.
  9. Awesome for you, trivial for me. It's packed, but emergency access is still possible, as noted. The Songkran photo was of the gridlock in Pattaya that makes access and passage impossible through critical roads. As I noted, your comparison was silly and irrelevant. Hot air doesn't make it less so. No, it isn't really a fun topic or fun holiday at all for most people living in Pattaya. Nothing to do with "grumpiness" but rather convenience, safety, and suspension of laws against assault that might lead to an accident. Name-calling won't help your case.
  10. We're talking about Sirikit, right? I go there, I need to see a generalist or minor specialist. That requires a long wait. See him, get preliminary talk, get another appt at least 2 weeks later to see the real specialist. Then another long wait when I get to the hsp for that appt. Seems the normal procedure. I've never seen an uncrowded waiting room at Sirikit. If you have an appt for 8 AM, you might actually see the doc at 11 AM.
  11. No. In normal times the restos in Central Festival and T21 have a LOT of Chinese in them. Last time I went into Sizzler, a lot were in there. OH--they weren't spitting on the floor as our bigots always stereotype. Very well-mannered, no mobbing the all-you-can-eat salad bar or other nonsense. Local restos such as Maesriren on Beach Road always had Chinese coming in. Guess we live in different towns, LOL.
  12. Hmm. That sounds rather exceptional to me.
  13. There would be no reason to assume that.
  14. They don't owe you anything, petal. I've found them mannerly enough, even pleasant at times, as when a young Russian mother in front of me at the cashier's in Lotus Express had a hard time understanding what further coins she needed to produce--and didn't have them anyway. I immediately handed the cashier a couple of baht for her, and she gave me a very gracious smile. 'Twas a nice exchange; too bad she didn't know I'm American, but perhaps she thought I might be. I've encountered bad manners among other prominent nationalities, but that would be off-topic.
  15. Oh, but I have, and I know of plenty of other cases. It happens I may need to go by the beer bars to get to a couple of stores located among them. Don't really want to plot inconvenient circuitous routes to go elsewhere; why should I? No drama about it, just fact. The drama comes from the drunks w/ water guns in the beer bars--mostly, but not exclusively.
  16. No, lots of annoyance and possibly danger for motorcyclists on other days in Naklua, Jomtien, and Pattaya. Lots of bars and bar girls to impress, random checkpoints elsewhere. You forgot?
  17. LOL. More hot air. Trollin, trollin', trollin'. You see any routes out on this map? No parking, streets closed to traffic, rigid crowd control, no alcohol permitted, designated emergency vehicle routes at 48th, 5th-9th Ave, other streets opened as needed. And it's only one day, not TEN days. I'll be staying comfortably where I am. May have a few laughs at any idiots I happen to see down below.
  18. And the idiots and drunks are mostly tourists. Very few who live here like Songkran unless they're making money from it. And those are mostly catering to Songkran tourists in particular.
  19. Oh, you would if you had to. Thais in particular need to ride their bikes for various purposes including getting to work. You dunno that the victims in the posted pics aren't sane. Just hot air. Irrelevant, silly example. Many alternative routes exist in NY. Police deal w/ the traffic mindfully and efficiently. You really don't see any Thais in the 4th pic? Are you blind? And how you do know the water hooligans in the 3rd pic aren't Thai? While conveniently ignoring the necessity for UNSCHEDULED DOCTORS VISITS. In fact, a lot of unscheduled visits to here and there are needed for various reasons. Not good 'nuff. Oh, we aren't intimidated by name-calling, BTW.
  20. When will they ever learn?
  21. One o' our lads just havin' a bit of fun: Watch me crash her motorbike! Hee hee! Ooh. I can destroy his hearing, legally! What fun. Oh goody, a stupid lady who forgot to stock up! Send her to the hospital. Whoops! I was wisely advised to postpone my heart attack! Topless beauties everywhere during Songkran And, with all the water, moobies!
  22. The spend during the years 2019 - 2022 includes COVID. And we'll need your numbers, since you know, to determine the relative amounts and trend. No, here's what you said: So you've been asked multiple times, not just by me, to tell us all your numbers (including those for the spend). The spend is the average amount of BAHT SPENT per tourist, per time frame (day), by group; and those are expressed in numbers, for example: average Russian tourist, B2000/day. You're claiming it's down, so let's see your comparative numbers through the years. And you can include the domestic tourists. But you're just going to dance around, deflect, claim misinterpretation, change the subject, ignore the question, bicker, and all the usual in a Leaver Loop. And you'll continue that forever until a bunch of posts get removed (as a few times before) or the thread closed. You dunno any numbers, haven't a clue about the spends. In fact, I don't think you know what spend is, even though I've defined it for you. As expected. It could not be otherwise. I'm outta here. My point's been made, enough time-wasting.
  23. Good point. And leaving is in fact sometimes the only cure for the horrid, brain-eating Space Monkeys. Sooner is better than later. Find peace.
  24. Motorcy taxi drivers or coconut bar ladies will provide it, say B500. Go with them and sit and drink beer while they queue. They can phone you when you can go inside and sit. Several times I had a motorcy taxi driver do my 90-day report, before the online facility really worked. B300.
