  1. Probably has something to do with the bigotry, arrogance, provincialism, and hot air we find illustrated on the forum daily. And then there's the widespread inability to speak English or Thai. Oh, and the "cuisine." Yeah, all in all, repatriation will be most beneficial. Monks doing good here.
  2. Yes, hopefully the exact cause of death will soon become clear. The only positive note here is that his spirit won't be trapped in the UK, an ultimately horrid fate after all Dom's been through, probably worse than the cave. Another rescue, but by Thai monks! The monks at the ceremony prayed for Dom’s spirit to be sent back home to Thailand. His mother had earlier expressed concern that Dom’s spirit could be trapped in Britain and wanted to have Buddhist monks there conduct rites for her son.
  3. It didn't say "spend." Generate. Very different. Usual ANF Poster Economics.
  4. It is not mandatory and never has been. Yes, you must produce your passport within 24 hours if asked. If you're detained, you may ask someone to bring it to you or the police will, for a service charge, escort you to pick up your passport. There's no B2000 fine for anything. If your passport/visa's expired, then you'll have a lot more to worry about than B2000. You must carry official identification of some (unspecified) sort on you at all times, however. If you don't, and you come under suspicion, you may be asked for your passport, which you must produce w/i 24 hours one way or the other. If you're under suspicion, you may be detained. Some random officer asking for "passport" doesn't mean anything unless he's bent. That's just the easiest known ID in English to ask for. You may show your official whatever however you're carrying it. You also can't believe news articles claiming people were "arrested" for carrying "no passport." Nobody's ever arrested for that offence (it's not a crime), and "no passport" just means "no ID"--and so it's quite likely they'll need to produce their passports. After all, carrying no ID is a violation. These threads are always full of the ignorant misinformation. Now 100 posters will have to relate what they carry.
  5. See if this vendor has a deal for you: https://www.lazada.co.th/shop/accio/?itemId=402282563&channelSource=pdp They're good.
  6. Here ya go: In large UK study, higher free sugar intake was significantly associated with risks of cardiovascular disease (CVD), ischemic heart disease (IHD), and stroke
  7. Perhaps because of incommensurability.
  8. I've bought most of my drives from JIB as well. Good service and local. Couple of weeks ago I decided to move one of my old HDs in my main machine to my spare to replace an ancient failed HD there. I looked around for a 6 TB. Lazada vendor, seemed reputable, in Chachoengsao had one B200 cheaper than JIB. Not "too good to be true," surely genuine, but still not cheap enough to tempt me away from just picking up one at JIB when I'm at the mall. So I did. Checked out fine, now in use. ????
  9. The supposed "fine print" is just an ANF Poster Myth to excuse the victim and place blame elsewhere. It's not in fine print, but stated up front; people are too lazy to read it. Example above, and we've had other examples in other threads.
  10. Partly a victim of her own negligence, however. More, we dunno. Without a CCTV, the facts may never be known. Yah, we love to make dire prophecies about the entire future of Thai tourism whenever we imagine a tourist has been "mistreated" or a 7/11 cashier rounded up to the nearest satang. Not a one ever came true, nor will this one. Maybe tourists could take this as an example to have adequate insurance, have valid DLs for driving motorbikes, wear helmets, and, in general, avoid getting into potentially risky situations in foreign countries. But they won't. Maybe some gov't action will eventually intervene, like more requirements or use some of the 300 baht fee for insuring the idiots. Or, maybe not. ????
  11. Hee hee. Very cute & clever, who woulda thought. 'Course, it would have been more effective and useful, less time-wasting, and better for your credibility, just to go direct, google for yourself as I did, and confirm the doc w/ the poster.
  12. Strike biscuits off the list, even those beloved Brit "digestive biscuits." Helpful quotes from Jack LaLanne: "If man makes it, don't eat it." But even more draconian, "if it tastes good, spit it out." Bertolli, Filippo Berio, and Pompeian will do. 'Course, our absolutely shrewdest posters know the Thais have simply refilled old bottles with flavored palm oil. Oh--prove them wrong! Again, our shrewdest members know that the fresh produce is coated with toxic pesticides. Solution: stop eating. Become a Breatharian. Breatharianism has never gained much popularity on our beloved forum, however.
  13. Why? Was there a bargirl, wife w/ Thai lover, or ladyboy involved? Safe robbed? Balcony "push?" CSI: ANF needn't bring its impressive investigatory expertise to bear in this case, I think. When it's in the UK, we have absolute faith in the UK authorities and medical facilities.
  14. Ah. Thank you.
  15. How does sending it by E-packet to the UK facilitate its arrival in Thailand?
  16. Seems consistent with what ANF posters think about Thais and their usual poor examples.
  17. What coutry is Michigan in? I dun forgot.
  18. Or just the main thing you imagine you've learned about what Thais learn. Good thread to bring out our paranoia and imagined victimization. Poor us, not loved just for being our kind, lovable, hansum, pleasant selves with such respect for Thais and their culture.
  19. Quite a lot, actually, but TAT: ANF has always refused to recognize them. After COVID, TAT attempted to attract more Thais. Worked. It would appear likely, no? But even without their coming back in big numbers, the volume of traffic on Beach Rd. dictates reinstatement of the beachside parking ban. Of course he'll care. Events and promotions targeted at Thais will continue and Thais will continue coming. Unfortunately, the lack of parking on Beach Rd. may now be somewhat limiting.
  20. No, to widen the road. No, it was banned previously as well, for good reason. The article says what the main reason is. It's also the real reason, as anyone who lives in Pattaya and attempts to travel down Beach Rd. nowadays, esp. in the evenings or weekends, can verify. The reinstatement of the ban has been overdue for a couple of months. Projection. It's always amusing how Thai bashes invariably just refer to the poster himself.
  21. A well-honed straight razor's what you need. Will easily remove all the stubble. In a pinch, you can go for a shavette (uses removable single edge blades), sold at beauty supply shops. Thai barbers mostly use those.
  22. Oh, but could he then be referring to a doc working in a business named Dr. Vision without naming him? If Dr. Vision were the name of the doc, then the business wouldn't be named, so it'd be about like saying, see Dr. Somchai in Bang Kapi. Difficult to look up on the net. Indeed, this appears to be the case. You look up Dr. Vision in Google. Then you find the list of docs with Thai names you'll find satisfying working at that business: http://doctorvision.net/category/บุคลากรnew/ One of them is particularly well-qualified in contact lenses and seems to be a lead guy. Duh. Is your discomfort about a possible non-Thai name all resolved now? Can you sleep?
  23. Could it sound like the name of a Thai business?
  24. Not really, since for most it's not about health and fitness. Interesting, far as it goes, for occasional people watching. But I don't compare myself to anyone but myself. Couple of weeks ago my numbers all came out great. No outside gyms can possibly compare. I like the aircon in my gym, too.
