  1. Good suggestions here. Japan, Europe. Since it's a first trip, if you want a place beautiful, exotic, interesting but not overwhelming, and still comfortable for Thais: Bali. Took a Thai lady there years ago and she loved it. Know an older lady who traveled there w/ her daughter and they both loved it, would like to go back.
  2. Ignoring that usual lie about "evil," the cool thing about flavoring your water in such a needlessly expensive way is that our busy Calorie Counters probably needn’t enter this small amount into their fitness apps. An extra row on the rowing machine, during one of the regular yo-yo weight gain loss or prevention sessions, will easily burn them off during glycogen burning mode. And those rightly worried about their carbs spiking their glucose, as carbs tend to do, possibly eventually leading to the pre-diabetes @robblok is keeping in remission, needn’t run and pop a tab of berberine to take care of the problem, as @robblok does: . . . [berberine] helps when you take carbs evens out the blood spike. I must say that taking it in combination with exercise has really helped weight loss. So, no objections here to Twinnings cold infuse for those suffering boredom. I'm not at all bored, however, so I'll stick to black or green tea for the evidence-based benefits, thanks. Actually, one of @BritManToo's useful finds was the cheap Typhoo black tea on Lazada, for those interested.
  3. That is the best approach, I agree, but few follow it here. Mostly we see a rationalization of current comfortable behavior. New information is “refuted” by repeating outdated, false, or biased information that’s almost always come from financially vested interests in the food, health, fitness, pharma, vegan, and climate change industries. 90% of 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee members had a conflict of interest with pharmaceutical and/or food processing companies, including sugary-cereal-makers General Mills & Kellogg's, explaining, in part, epidemic T2 #diabetes among children and adults. --Alan Watson, @DietHeartNews As GuruAnaerobic tweeted recently, The people who believed the (now debunked) Obesity Paradox were overweight. People cannot help believing in things which confirms their lifestyle or worldview. . . . Intelligence doesn't make people immune from this. The blithe, seemingly objective assertion of “whatever works for you” may be subsequently followed by the opposite assertion of “except THAT,” somehow regarded as a threat. ???? So, as one might expect, claims of “works" or "following the proper course of action” FOR ME may upon closer scrutiny be found either obviously not working so well or the poster doesn’t actually know how well it’s “working” except for pleasing his taste buds. Later the truth comes out in the Health forum or in admissions of needing a handful of meds; or indirectly by a refusal to reveal the critical numbers. Unfortunately, what REALLY works best FOR YOU in terms of health and fitness is almost always going to involve some effort, discipline, and—what we most hate—stress. On the last point, I’ll just comment that our ace Longevity Researchers will often point to avoiding stress as a factor promoting longevity. The popular checklists are talking about intense mental stress such as incurred from job, financial, or marital problems, not from exercise or (cough) sugar avoidance. In most average cases, some things are going to work better for one's health and fitness than whatever it is one thinks is working or would work IF one actually did it.
  4. How obvious could that be, really. Well done indeed! Veered off-topic, inevitably. To laundromat or not laundromat, that is the question—for @The Hammer2021, who hijacked the topic and who really thinks he’s discussing that. I, on the other hand, ain't discussing it but rather having a laugh at his ignorant assumptions and any residuals that may spin off. So IF you were discussing, you’d need to address for him WHY you’re wasting time doing your own laundry, including the “women’s work.” Well, it seems you’re all clean, ironed, and starched now and have hung yourself up in the closet. I’ll try to remember to salute if I see you out on a Pattaya soi.????
  5. It's often said that Pattaya's not Thailand.???? Some truth to that, though not nearly as much as commonly believed.
  6. Actually it's amazing how little Thais care about the doings of farangs and even how little they notice things around them. If they thought about it at all, they'd just wonder why a rich person such as yourself wouldn't pay to save yourself any effort, as they themselves would if rich. "Like" wouldn't enter into it.
  7. Cotton, not really. Wear them out into the Pattaya sauna and the wrinkles soon steam themselves out from within. I sometimes ranger roll some cotton shirts for packing or saving space in my drawer; it does cut down on wrinkles. Many of our members are too delicate and organic to wear anything but pure cotton next to their sensitive skin. I wear mostly fitted t-shirts with at least some polyester for give. Or, quick-dry breathable athletic shirts, great for gym or travel. They hardly wrinkle, if at all. I throw them into a bag directly from the dryer and then directly into a drawer.???? He.ll yeah. As for linen, level up your whole coolness factor simply by adopting the retro 80s "crumpled cockroach" look. Expect deep discounts on the bar fines thereafter.
  8. It ain't happenin' for you, man. Guess it was all that early training, not easy to overcome. Reminds me of an old girlfriend from Colombia relating a Colombian joke that "gringos are buried standing up."
  9. True, if that's all it was. And if so, why would you worry? The source code for both Linux and GnuPG is of course public. As is that for Keepass, Truecrypt, and Veracrypt.
  10. Why? Residual memory of suckin' up to a Boss? Expecting an audience w/ the Queen of Soi 6? That would be your own spin on things. Maybe back in the UK you had to sit there lest some chav steal your clothes. And sell them. Few sit and wait on their laundry to finish, not even Thais. So half the machines are sitting there waiting for the damp laundry to be removed. I walk over to a local shop, buy a cold Singha, and then surf and read on my tablet. And my time is just as important as your time, though perhaps better allocated. Ignorant stereotype. In the shop near my place the husband is often seen ironing while the wife sorts thru clothes, puts them in and out of the machines, folds, keeps track, and deals with customers. Well, you really just got your knickers all in a twist over this ironin’ thang. Real Men™ don’t need no ironin’, bro’. Creases like razors. LOL. In Pattaya? Look like a stupid tourist FOB? Pattaya expects you to stay ready to get down & dirty without fussing about your pants creases or coiffed hair, assuming you have any of the latter. Word: stay wrinkled. Mostly a fantasy, shared by few other posters. Walking? Possibly, but most drive cars or ride motorbikes. Sort? Real Men™ don’t need no sortin’, either. Or foldin’. WOT??? That's right. HOT-AIR dryer, up 2 u. Want COLD, get this: press the COLD button. Again: you don’t sit there, or if you do, you got your beer, tablet, laptop, or phone and take the opportunity to catch up on a few things or wimmin. Again, no ironing; good gawd, get over it. Remember: stay wrinkled. You may be in Pattaya, but you ain’t of Pattaya yet. Give it a few more years.???? I guess I save B300-400, but I also enjoy being self-reliant, same as I do with Immigration.
  11. My account > Shipping address I can add all I want. Select when checking out.
  12. Then you'd have failed the minimal cognitive fitness test required to enter the Kingdom. You'd need to catch the next flight right back to LHR and notify your caregiver.
  13. Better to look for a new switch solution. At its most elementary: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/2-toshino-co-6s-i1979778681-s6337990068.html I can attest to its efficacy.
  14. Take matters into your own hands. Install the extension Dark Reader onto whatever browser you're using.
  15. FOB, I guess. Embrace the suck.
  16. Sketchers seem a good buy. I use a pair of Sketchers sandals for walking on the beach, and they've been great. Bought them when the malls were suffering under COVID restrictions and really made the day for one salesman in T21 shocked to make an actual sale.
  17. Good choice at a good price, I like North Face a lot, too. Trekking-oriented shoes are more protective and durable, but a bit heavier and less flexible. Hoka, they're not. You can put in a softer insole, of course. Enjoy!
  18. Drop in a SuperSports store and try out a few brands. Got one on the 2nd floor of Central Festival in Chiang Mai. I favor New Balance because they tend to be wider in the toebox. A lot of brands too narrow for the Asian market. My first running shoes ever were New Balance, so I regard them with some nostalgia. I see SS currently has some models on sale in the Fresh Foam line, some of which get good reviews on Amazon: https://en.supersports.co.th/catalog/?q=new+balance+fresh+foam Which makes it tempting to check them out, maybe pick up a pair. The bigger sales tend to happen towards the end of the year, however. Also soft, comfortable, but indestructible long distance trekkers proof against anything Thailand can throw at them on and off road: Merrills: https://en.supersports.co.th/catalog/?q=merrell+moab World class, perfect fit, built to last longer than you will. Worth the full retail price, but look for a sale later on.
  19. One issue to be aware of now, since that's an old laptop, is to be careful not to let it hear any music by Janet Jackson. Your hard disk may crash! Janet Jackson's music video is now a vulnerability for crashing hard disks
  20. We’ve come quite a long way now. It’s only proper we pause for a moment in tribute to The Inventor who made this thread and the ongoing, ah, situation possible. Last month we neglected the anniversary of His passing. Fernando José "Corby" Corbató (July 1, 1926 – July 12, 2019), inventor of the computer password and timesharing. --https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_J._Corbató
  21. And Edge works similarly with an M'soft One Account and Firefox with a Firefox Sync account.
