  1. Nah, nose job, boob job, mindless generic music. Here's a reason to love Thailand: Best backup dancer ever.
  2. Our dicks demand to know ALL the details needed to solve the case. Now: were they HIS false teeth?
  3. Unusually good details here for CSI: ANF to work with. But we have more questions. Front door locked from inside? Balcony door left open, escape to the next room over?
  4. Fantasy of the week. Good thing it'll never happen, 'cause you'll just injure yourself.
  5. No crack is going to enable security updates past EOS. Money will. Not suitable for ordinary desktop application users. Ubuntu or Mint's his speed.
  6. Who, as I noted, may have been influenced directly or indirectly by bar girls. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, your claim to authority on the Thai language has also been shredded:
  7. Bar girls understandably have no respect for the idiots they have to deal with. They probably did, on average, before they entered the profession. Bar girls go back to villages and spread the word, too. I could see using "it" myself. That's one reason I learned to start every transaction with a Thai in Pattaya with a pleasant, polite, sawadee krub and a smile. Immediately lets them know you're not one of the idiots. Works well even with the toughest old tourist-shocked vendor.
  8. Depends on how you say it. Quickly, with a perfunctory businesslike tone, doesn't signal further interest. I usually get the same back or nothing, as it's clear I don't expect any response. I think it helps always to give a pleasant sawadee krub at the beginning of any business transaction, even at supermarket checkout. The OP may expect further discussion, however, and that might be part of his problem. Ordinarily, there's no reason to imply or expect that.
  9. Yes. Only ignorant farang tourists believe that Pattaya isn't a VERY Thai city run by Thais who are just as Thai as elsewhere.
  10. One example is in the pink card discussion. Besides a lot of nonsense, you made up the assertion that pink cards are for migrant workers and not farang. From that false assertion you concluded that Thai Amphurs don't WANT to give pink cards to farang and create unnecessary obstacles out of xenophobia. 🙂 That's merely what an ignorant bigoted farang believes. Your beliefs about Thais are mostly ignorant, bigoted farang beliefs, with readings from tourist guides. Probably comes from living in the UK all those years. Though rogue offices exist (not many, it seems), the purpose of the requirements is merely to verify identity with as much validity as possible. The Pattaya office is one of the toughest, if not THE toughest, in Thailand. Yet everyone in City Hall was quite helpful, and, after I fulfilled the requirements, they granted me a yellow book (even a blue book, which I'd never had), with politeness and grace. We parted with wais and smiles. Very much so IF you were really a Thai rather than basically a farang with a Thai ID card, whinging that Pattaya bar girls don't greet you with a wai. LOL. The point is that you spread irrelevant misinformation, as noted by @Gecko123: The question before us has a very simple answer, and it was answered satisfactorily in the first two posts in the thread. I also noted that Japanese don't greet strangers in, for example, elevators or even crowded trains. It would never occur to me to do so, unless hitting on a girl--which is business.🙂 There's no smiling at strangers. Why should there be? Only Brits like beating up on Russians with that arbitrary standard. Yet they're among the world's politest people. Anyway, I'm not going to get into one of your endless bickering loops. That'll have to do it for your tummy rub. I stand by my BRIEF original statement that you're a poor source of information about Thai culture and doings. I get it that you of course strongly disagree. Feel free. Posters can make up their own minds.
  11. A good mechanical RGB backlit TKL is the bee's knees. That's what I use on my desktops and am typing on one right now. Got particular keys lit in different colors. GF told me it's a kind of fruit salad. But a USB light (several types available, I chose this one because somebody said something about not liking white light), though imperfect, can be better than nothing and good 'nuff. I use one on my laptop if I'm typing on it at night, which is not often, only during travel. Some of them have longer lighting fixtures, e. g., https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i4656857717-s19149775058.html and if you put that down low on your top row, focused outward a bit to hit the others, you'll have NO problem seeing it.
  12. Try one of these USB lights in warm yellow. You can afford it. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i4043649493-s15733550802.html
  13. Friend of mine did plasma for her hip pain. Very minimal relief. A hip replacement will be coming up.
  14. Yes, as usual, our old buzzards have gathered to see how many different ways they can poop on this hard-working couple. We need that feeling of superiority.
  15. If so, then probably wrong and in any case now out of date and wrong. You've been known to simply make up stuff. I remember you well from the pink card discussion. Your nonsensical post above was most unhelpful. LOL. I probably do, having, unlike yourself, actually worked in that economy, at a Japanese company, as a manager of international business accounts. Enabled me to retire early to the paradise of Pattaya, too. But, typically, your answer, possibly gleaned from Wikipedia anyway, has little relevance to the point under discussion. Its purpose is merely to assert a spurious claim to authority.
  16. No. And @Neeranamis the worst possible source of info about Thai culture, pay no attention. Has its problems but doing OK, better than home. Most Thais are happy enough with the country and the culture, though a large percentage would prefer to be wealthier. Most are aware of the political mess, but again, the USA and UK are in bigger messes. Now, we might agree that Japan isn't in a mess, but you'll find that Japanese wouldn't particularly welcome a greeting from a random stranger either. Lived in Japan for years, but I can't recall ever greeting or talking to any Japanese stranger in an elevator or on the crowded train, which I rode daily. So I think your "mess" theory doesn't hold up.
  17. Maybe. You need to add the "krub" for politeness to a stranger.
  18. You can't hold the door open as if it's just a pedestrian obligation. They don't expect it anyway. No, you need to show the obsequiousness reserved for Royalty. You open the door, hold it to the side of you for them to walk past, and give a bow with a dramatic hand gesture sweeping from your head downwards and out, as if it holds a cocked, feathered hat you've just removed. You think, humbly, "After you, Your Majesty." And then you'll get a nice smile and even a laugh of appreciation. Try it, unless you think you're too much of a badass. It's funny. Re: elevator greeting, I always give a polite "sawadee, krub" when I get on, which I think makes the Thai passenger comfortable. No greeting in return is expected, and they know it isn't expected, but they'll often give it.
  19. OP wants a new computer, and it will run Win 11, not Win 10, surely upgradeable to Win 12 in late 2025 or later. Not clear when the last version of Win 11 will come out, actually. For that I'd just use WSL 2: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/how-to-install-wsl2-on-windows-10 But, better yet, just do the opposite: let Linux be the host and Windows the guest, if you really need Windows. I may change to OpenSUSE linux or use Win 10 LTSC Enterprise IOT, good for security updates to 2032. Been dual booting these on my spare computer for some time and like both of them.
  20. Sadly, it's the lesser educated in the USA, as in the UK, who've managed to retain a bulwark of common sense against the brainwashing of leftist education. You know, still believing stuff like men can't get pregnant and give birth, etc. The progressives’ turn to violence first appeared in the one institution over which progressivism exercises near-absolute rule—academia. Recent years have seen the emergence of a kind of progressive dictatorship of the professoriate, a totalitarian regime that denies its subjects the right not only to believe but even to hear ideas that might cast doubt on progressivism’s rectitude. For some time, this was accomplished by administrative corruption and quiet censorship. But the academics enforce leftism outside the classrooms as leftist administrations condone leftist violence. BLM activists even got paid for looting and rioting in NY, Seattle, Denver etc. 🙂 Today, however, it is largely accomplished by mob violence. The professoriate’s shock troops shout down and assault speakers; disrupt events; attack opposing activists; engage in intimidation, harassment, and psychological abuse; and aggressively “deplatform” anyone with whom they disagree. --The rise of barbaric progressivism So educational snobbery lacks the validity nowadays that smug leftists always imagine it does. Rather it seems simply to reflect more years of brainwashing and readings in the echo chamber.
  21. Not just any old exercise will do, notably ones that somehow mimic the motion that created the injury. Gotta find the right exercises and do them correctly.
  22. It's always much more than dumb. Disagreeing with the socialist agenda is evil. That's why it must be shouted down, lied about, and censored, lest it spread to those who might think for themselves. It's the new atheist religious warfare with women leading the charge.
  23. True. To sum up the thread: Otherwise, you're simply waiting for death, LOL. It's one of those usual attempts by posters to justify their existence.
  24. True, leftists are always full of hate and demonize the opposition. Note the mindless name calling. Channels the abandoned religious impulses, gives their lives meaning. Been that way for decades, esp. as women have assumed ever more power and influence; Trump is just the latest scapegoat. Absolutely useless to reason with them.
