Bump
I have a Samsung netbook that needs attention, namely a look at the battery terminals (it ceased recognizing a new bty after 36hrs) and increase the memory/speed it up. The shop opp Maenam PO were reluctant to try and open it when I had an earlier problem therefore my question is:
- Is SAMSUNG my next port of call (& if so where are they these days) or
- Is there anywhere else on the island that can look at a netbook without gouging the owner?
The netbook works when plugged in but i'm reluctant to use it without the bty functioning properly.
Thanks all
Eva
I'd give Boyd a go (just down from Makro on the same side)...he had a go at my fried Dell and didn't charge me anything after I decided not to bother repairing it

Thx for map.
Is it google maps gps works up there?
Sent from my SM-A800F using Tapatalk
I haven't been in Ohms for a month or so and didn't know he had that...should be fun!
GPS will work up there a majority of the time...I haven't tried Google maps up there for awhile, but just had a look and the coverage is a lot better than it used to be

Although he does have the bikes...his 'repair' costs if you drop it are a little on the expensive side to say the least
Some nice views from some points! I would suggest going with a "buddy"... rather than alone! Be off the back roads before dark!
Neilly and I have done all these roads, he won't take me anymore as I stop too often to take photos and my PCX is too slow ....
Can you add anything Neilly?
That is good advice from Jimmy...there's some rough stuff up there and it's taken two of us to haul a stuck bike a couple of times.
It always amazed me how you got your PCX thru a lot of it LOL...I know you changer the variator, but still impressive none the same.
This map is from the hill walkers and is fairly good starting point...
Mate thats sounds like fun.Thank you for proper info.
Do they rent dirt bikes with more then 250cc ?
Sent from my SM-A800F using Tapatalk
250cc is the largest dirt bike you'll find to rent mate

What cc is this red one. Was it tour or just rent.watch out for guys on red motor bikes, right Neilly!?
And for Green ones...
I want rent one around new year but not tour.
How much is it. 1k per day?
Thanks a lot

It's my own and it's a Honda CRF250L (The Kwak is a KLX250).
There are a few shops that rent them in the Chaweng area, but some will sting you if you drop it...no idea on the price especially over the New Year period...but should be less than 1k/day I would have thought

On a side note...anyone know if the tide table/chart for 2016 has been put out anywhere? I checked the Navy site and they're still showing the 2015 one
Try this website http://www.tides4fishing.com/as/thailand
Thanks for posting that up...I actually already have that one...I was looking for the Navy one because it's only four pages of A4 for the whole year

but some of the roads are rough going.... especially now!
If that cement road I posted is finished then it will be easier via Soi One road.... too much chance of getting rained out right now, will check out later....
Member Neilly and I went up the existing one a couple of years ago ! But I have done several times!
There is a restaurant up there too, some of the Safari Trucks stop there for lunch! (if you dare use them!!!!!)
Hi Jimmy...that cement road only goes about 150m and then stops...don't think they'll concrete it all the way.
Been up on the hills with a couple of friends quite a few times (last time a couple of weeks ago) and Soi 3 is now a mess again. We haven't been up since the rains kicked in but will soon if we get a clear day.

Lots of things to do on Soi One from Maenam to Lamai! The road is in pretty good shape, but quite steep in some areas....
Not only will Samui immigration be open some time! Every farang will get to know this place....
I saw the new water slide park was now open! Follow the signs!
Be warned...it's expensive, and you will be charged the same entrance fee if you are using the rides/swimming or just minding your child

And as the old joke goes....
when the Thai Navy buys a new submarine, and you're not surprised when the first thing they do is remove the exhaust-mufflers and hang a garland from the rear view mirror.

Sanphet supermarket in Nathon (left side just after entering one-way from Lamai direction) have the powdered version that can be mixed with water. You'll find down the bottom of the store where all the flours are.

Maybe they did not know the 10 dollars they gave back was fake? Maybe it was given to them by another tourist. Hardly worthy to be in the news.
Did you read the OP?
“He didn’t really look at the change, and afterward he tried to use the money to buy water but was informed that his money was fake, since it had the word ‘copy’ [written across it],” he said

I dont see a canvas vest nor ball bearings in those pictures. Maybe its my eyesight...
The ball bearings are in the plastic bag...same as used in BB guns (airsoft as they are called here)

First of all, they need to release a first generation copy of the CCTV video to the media, instead of footage from a shaking cellphone pointed at a security camera video screen. We'll get a much better look at the guy that way.
That yellow t-shirt is so distinctive. It's either a major screw up on the part of the bomber, or a false flag. This t-shirt is apparently produced by a tiny womans fashion boutique in Jakarta. The odds of it even being sold outside of Jakarta (or at least Indonesia) seem pretty slim. I'd consider that a major lead.

I am in land seismic, got laid off from Iraqi Kurdistan in November (Chevron pulled-the-pin on two crews there - the oil price was heading south, as ISIS were heading north!).
Some of my colleagues have similar experiences/no work or prospects. The last that I heard was that Global Geo/EAME had no further work after the last GazProm job finishes in Kurdistan in a few months.
Am hearing the same...I left Erbil a year ago tomorrow and haven't had anything since. There are rumours that things will pick up in 2016 but I'm not holding my breath.

Sean's an ok musician and songwriter. Tho he could enunciate better. Perhaps it's the Kurt Cobain influence of slurring words.
I was trying to gauge whether the song was perhaps a commentary on the Ko Tao crime, but couldn't decipher his brand of English.
Hello Boomerangutang,
But this song righter is not the Sean from the Ko Tao murders, is he?
Did you listen to all the songs? The third song!!! I am taken back.
I hope this song righter is not the Sean from Ko Tao.
Check out the guitar....

Where exactly on Soi 1 is this place?...been up Soi 1 many, many times but never seen it Rob
To answer your question Neil, it's about 1 km perhaps a little less from ring road in Maenam....on right side .... it's hard to spot because it is set back from the road..... but if you are coming from Lamai way, it's even tougher to spot, see my pics above.... The torn sign may or may not be there, but only visible from Maenam side...
I would imagine they will decorate with new signs when open.... I heard last night it will be open by August..... (this year I think! )
Thanks Jimmy...will have a closer look next time I pass, but have a good idea where it is now thanks

18:50. Typical. Just settled down to watch the 2015 Silverstone Grand Prix, and the power goes out in Bangrak.
I feel you. I switched over to 3G to keep watching on BBC.co.uk but after 20 minutes the 3G tower switched to battery saving low speed. So that ended the live feed.18:50. Typical. Just settled down to watch the 2015 Silverstone Grand Prix, and the power goes out in Bangrak.
Hope you got to watch it in full...damn good race

The Orangutan, the Hamster and Capt Slow are not indispensable. The last few years have been too scripted and lacked real spontaneity.
Hope his co-presenters will be less public-schooly than their predecessors, and will include a lady.
Guess you've never watched BBC's Fifth Gear then?
