  1. Is this a thread where we get to apply derogatory labels in front of certain nationalities? Oh goodie...

Let's re-cap, so far we have

    -SERIOUSLY drunken, oafish Russians

    -scowling Arabs

    -cheap skate Indians

What about arrogant, drunk, sex crazed and cheap charlie Brits? What about super ugly and super stupid farang who'd believe the first bar girl he pays when she says "I luv big hansum farang like you" and then believes a pretty young thing can actually prefer a sad, lonely, old, obese and bald Brit over a virile, rich and handsome Arab stud.

I hope they don't close this thread, it's so fun to belittle other nationalities.

Rich handsome Arab stud :D have you come across many :)

  2. Having spent his formative and most influential years in England. Having attended Eton and mixed with the affected plastic buffoons churned out by such an elitist establishment, how does he represent the majority of normal Thai people? If he was from Mars then his mind set could not be more at odds with the majority of Thais.

    Also who is his boss?

  3. Yes Pattaya now - haven forsaken the good spending Brits etc. - have a mix of: teetotal scowling Arabs speeding around on big bikes; Russians buying their booze from 7/11 and drinking on the street; cheap skate Indians haggling over everything - including the price of a haircut and how many of them can molest a girl for a few baht.

I know the Brits can be (are) a bit loutish - but at least they spend a few quid.

  4. Half ferang kids are not eligable for Thai military service.

could you please elaborate on this 'rule' and give some information?

    Thx

My son (half Thai) has just been registered on the house book. He is 14. The amphur asked why he had not been registered earlier. My wife said that she did not want our son to be forced - if chosen - to do military service. The amphur said we need not have worried as half ferang kids are [now] not allowed to do service as they were a disruptive influence. I have no reason to disbelieve the amphur. However i have not seen any offical document confirming this.

That sounds quite interesting. If you come along such document please PM me and/or post that subject as a new topic.

    Sure thing.

PS I wasn't surprized when the amphur said this to my wife as I had heard this somewhere before, and this went someway to confirm. Can't think where i read or heard this though.

  5. Half farang kids are not eligable for national service? - are you sure of this: Yes, I have read and heard that when it comes to luek krung males and national service, there are options/alternatives ... whatever word one wants to use, but do you know what the legistlation actauly says? Nope - I'm not challenging you - I don't know myself, and as said in my first comment on the subject it was never an option for us, we brought him up to be a patriot and proud of the country of his birth and whatever different folk consider that to ential - we have encouraged him to do his bit and the law aside (whatever it may say), I personally think its a great character building experience, and last but not least, coming out of Thai military service with an officer ranking (as a uni grad he'll be eliagable for officer/junior leadership training) is something that doesn't go un-noticed by HR departments of most Thai companies.

leftcross - regards your comment: "so he can get killed by the muslims in the south for absolutely nothing? no thanks" - thats your personal opinion, and I'll take it for what I think it worth!

Why would one be proud of a country. What does that actually mean?

  7. I am ever so glad that the second language in Thailand is English, and NOT French or German :)

France is the most foreign country -as an English speaker - that i have ever worked in. It is almost impossible to get by if you don't speak French. The French are quite ignorant to the fact that English is the favoured world language and very few speak English - or take showers regularly!

  8. I need to apply for Thai driving licence. I currently have full British and international licence. What exactly do i need to produce to obtain the Thai licence.

From Thais i have spoke with i understand ithe actual is as 'easy as peeling a bannana'. And laughable if it wasn't such a serious thing!

  9. illegal drugs wouldnt be a problem if they were legalised, just like alcohol and tobacco. In fact I have never seen someone affect by heroin or marijuana get agro, unlike people who are pissed.

Right on brother--The masses will never understand that legalization is the sensible thing to do. To much brainwashing.

Several countries, Portugal for one has legalized. Drug use went up a but at first and now it is lower. It took the criminality out of it, took the stigma away. Now many are seeking treatment and ugly lifestyle of buying on the street is gone.

Also the police and the justice system would not be a big proponent for legalization. They would lose jobs form prison guards to lawyers to judges and of course police. Let's call it the justice industrial complex. Doctors do not want to lose control of their kingdoms drug company kickbacks. I could go on and on--but I will stop here.

thats what I used to think but yaba is different, the thai girls get totally addicted to it and will steal off their mothers to get more, certainly their friends, and its proven to cause permanent brain damage, sadly many of these girls, and thats about 90% of the working girls I have meet, are more or less mentally handicapped by it, and as for the agro, sure they are happy as larry on it but the next morning they will be kicking the doors and cursing, they are very unpleasant unless they have just had a smoke

    smoke of what

  10. Having worked on cruise ships I can tell you that those in service jobs would not give good service to those who may or may not have tipped at the end of the cruise.

Through their experience they knew that people waiting till the end were more likely to give a small tip or nothing if they could sculk away

  11. My wifes Thai passport will expire in a few weeks. Does anyone know what documents etc. are required for renewal? And is it better to renew before it expires? And will they extend her current passport for another 5 years as opposed to issuing new passport?

    Thanks

  12. There will be a big rush of US passport holders getting a second passport to use for their banking. I think perhaps Uruguay, anyone have any ideas on this?

I don't think Uruguay sells second passports. Dominica does but its expensive. Knowing the feds they are probably watching this too, "escaping from America" is harder than ever! And wealthy people probably already know that Americans who are deemed to give up citizenship for tax purposes are still fully liable for US tax (yes this is a separate but related thing from using second passports).

People must begin to realize that the days of being free range are coming to an end. This new measure is just another way of making people return to their respective farms. (I am sure the EU wil follow suite)
