  1. Oppo are pretty robust, my wife's cousin dropped her Oppo phone whilst pillion on a motorbike and watched the car behind run over it. She was most surprised to find it, bar a few scratches and a dent, intact and still working when she recovered it from the road.

  2. I've used it, can buy in HomePro or TOPS - it works to keep the little buggers out, but not much use with the ones already in the room.

I don't mind them in some parts of the house but not my office. So I use the spray around the windows to keep them out, and to clear up any already in, I put sticky pads on the wall just behind the curtains, a favourite hiding place.

I just cut down the roach house traps and use Blutack to stick them to the wall. They work fine to trap them.

    Are Chinese cellphones secure?

    Of course they are.

The Chinese promise to keep your information to themselves and never sell it on.

75% of the World's mobile phones are made in China, that's a lot of phones to be snooping on, so I think it's fair to say that, unless you're some business titan whose latest technology is worth stealing, your sexting history is safe with the Chinese.

    BTW, I have a Huawei P9 - a great Chinese phone.

I was thinking of installing Ubuntu/Mint on a new computer i am getting but stories like this just scare me off. I just want an OS that works without spending my life fiddling with it. Looks like W10.

Linux Mint usually does just install, and once installed you don't need to spend your life fiddling with it.

My Linux desktops are install and forget.

I have been a life-long Forest fan - and will remain so.

I'm assuming you're originally from the Nottingham area, in which case you've only really two options Leicester or Wolves. As a Villa fan of long suffering I'm happy to cheer on Wolves in the EPL or any Midlands side really (except Birmingham City).

Though the days when you supported your local teams seems long gone, it's now fashionable to just pick whoever's winning; loyalty is just old fashioned.

  6. Problem is like many things in Thailand, operations are poorly managed and they skimp on maintenance.

Hat Yai has an incinerator out near the airport, it handles some  300 tonnes of rubbish per day and produces around 5MW or electricity. It's a joint venture between the local PEA and a private company. There have been several complaints by those living near the facility, and recently it was shut down because it was found to be emitting high levels of dioxin amongst other things. The issue was with poor management of the incinerator and not burning at a high enough temperature, a particular problem when the waste going in is wet. They seem to have fixed the problem and have been allowed to operate again.

Given the amount of waste modern cities produce and the options of burying or burning for energy, burning for energy seems preferable. That said I wouldn't want to be living too close to one. The Hat Yai incinerator was stuck out by the airport because not many people lived there. However, since the 2010 flood, a lot of new housing has gone up near the airport, and the incinerator, because it's high ground. Highlights another issue Thailand has, that's a lack of proper zoning, residential, industrial etc.
