I am not sure what all the fuss was about.
I went to a traditional English pub in Bangrak last night - beer as normal.
Warm then?
-
I believe the restaurant is called "TROIKA".
But their signs are written in all cyrillic as "ТРОЙКА"
Just inbetween Macro and Sirisin.
Was the food any good?
i really hope nobody ever considers running a free beer chang during your lunch of non-canned refried bean mexican meal promotion.

my local pharmacy has gone through and sticker priced their entire inventory. perhaps to avoid any notion of double pricing. not sure how effective it is though because they don't even charge me the sticker price, so i guess double pricing still exists.

Egg poacher.
2-Cup Coffee Percolator.
Joe's going to set up shop with those, items..... should be coming after his next trip to Malaysia! ....
By the time you (the OP) gets here they should be on sale!
if by sale you mean previous price plus 10%, you are correct sir!

keat's boat shop. perhaps 200m past big c headed towards maenam, left hand side.

Just found a photo of what I'm after - stovetop type.
Anyone seen one around??
R
Have not seen one on the left in years!
It's almost cheaper to got to Starbucks or other coffee shop and just bye ready made coffee or a a year, just not convenient!
My Electrolux coffee maker is a pain in the neck it not set exactly right .... it all spills over the counter...
Only thing I could find when I was looking 2 -3 years ago!
Perhaps Joe could bring back a boot / trunk full on next trip to Malaysia
(Using UK and North American term there!)
i've always got some extra space but my markup is outrageous

must be heavier than 5kg each. anyone have contact info for any of the gyms that have shut down and are looking to sell off any racks or plates?
-
small boats, personal water craft etc are great here however storing something that small may actually be a problem unless you live on the beach.
-
hey rob i only use a french press because i've found that no matter when and if makro or tesco has a new shipment of coffee makers in, there are never any replacement parts for when someone drops the pot and i also don't think boiling water belongs anywhere near my coffee grounds. i'm quite familiar with percolators however i've never seen any on samui yet they are available nationwide in robinsons dept. store.
my annual trek to penang almost invariably includes a stop at robinsons in hat yai to buy another french press, last year i was lucky and it was a 2 for 1 sale.

For us uninitiated, what is TCP ?
and here i thought i was the only one left out. i used to use a product called TCP back in the states to clean grime and dirt off of the paneling on the sides of my house. i don't suppose there's any need for that here and the only thing you'd need at the pharmacy related to TCP was in the event you inhaled it or didn't wear gloves.

does it ever say that the pregnant gf is czech or thai?

did he lift his chin up and to his left while telling you "one month" as if he were in a meditative thoughtful dream state or was he looking directly into your eyes and say "one (more) month"?
i think the general consensus is that anything 3g related in thailand is to be filed under "believe it when you see it" but as an iphone user i'm obviously looking forward to this now outdated technology.

thank you for coming back to the thread and as it is apparently not a landlord related issue, i'm sure a few people here would appreciate it if you post again once a qualified person has looked it over.
-
or the OP could come back and settle the issue rather quickly by responding to the question posted several times already in this thread.
does he get the bill from the meter readers or from his landlord?
-
(Amusing you rent)
Care to elaborate on this comment please?
i'm assuming he meant assuming, because if i assume he meant amusing then he's probably one of those rich elitists mocking the peasantry and that's not amusing.
-
my first thought was someone stealing your juice but since you said the meter stopped it begs the question, do you get your electric bill straight from the source or does it take a detour through your landlords bank account first?
-
Crickey, i've admitted i'm not happy here but i did'nt know it was that bad
well you're obviously not looking hard enough...

yes, what happened to personal responsibility? in a country that considers it a national sport to shirk responsibility and lower the bar for moral turpitude, it's a sign of good character that we honor the arrangements that others so casually dismiss. i don't care so much about the 500 baht overstay, if my mom found out i overstayed she'd hit me with a guilt trip so bad i'd happily pay 500 baht to make it go away.

"a complaining customer is your best customer"
keeping that axiom in mind, samui certainly has the potential to be a regular stop on the top 25 lists. it, like nearly every business in thailand, just needs to be managed better.
I never thought you'd be the voice of reason joe!!
i'm not really an ***hole, i just play one on TV

Government is closed from 13 till 17 May. They will open again on the 18th.
well that's wonderful news. any chance of them extending their holiday for a few decades?

"from feedback i got from a few bikers they wont be coming back, unless samui sorts the roads out, as alot of these big sport bikes couldnt handle samui dodgy roads and 34,978 pot holes ( the road outside chaweng lake was a mess , and still is)"
so, there is some good to be found in having the worst roads in the kingdom.
bike week is about as welcome as a fart in a crowded elevator imo. any chance they can host the samui bike week in pattaya next year?

chinese and thai engineers and labor. i don't foresee any problems there whatsoever.
i can envision a time 40 years from now when this project is complete, looking up at the information board to buy a ticket...
1) arrive at a destination safely...XXXX baht
2) arrive at a destination quickly...XXX baht
3) arrive at the correct destination...XXXXX baht
4) surcharge for any combination of above items...XXXXXXXXXX baht

samui has a lot of unrealistic things. expectations probably tops the list imo.

seems like putting the sign in russian "for russians only" would be a recipe for business disaster.
russians would logically be the main customers, would eat russian food anyway, and of course would drink vodka.
put the sign in english/thai and get non russians to try russian food and wash it down with some free shots of cold vodka. make the russians pay for theirs.
