  1. hmm. your concerns are mostly based on the METV, while as I see it, the DTV represents a fundamental change of concept. the METV was for tourists to come and do touristy things, while the "digital nomad" type of DTV is explicitly for working remote. maybe it could be a good thing to come prepared with printouts of Immigration's webpages about DTV. If that fails, I also have my attorney's business card with me. P.S. to directly link to a post, you can hover its date, such as "posted X hours ago" or "posted November 9" and right-click to select "copy link"
  2. the DTV visa itself says "multiple" - theres no way going around that to charge extra.
  3. here are some good news, if true
  4. Heroyam slava! Thank you for your updates. I hope you can preserve your manpower. the map seems to be lagging behind a bit - but seeing that situation it only made sense to pull out of these villages. I hope the men made it out.
  5. it's jealousy over young people getting long stay visas...
  6. it's not that easy. firstly, Ukraine has no incentive at all to accept such a freeze. secondly, for Russia such a freeze would be very problematic. one of its main problems would be the winding down of the war economy, as many of the more skilled Russians have left and they would face a reflux of unskilled young men from the frontlines who know how to use weapons and who are going to be unemployed. such a freeze would jeopardize Putin's dictatorship.
  7. anytime I read "falung" in a post I ready myself for some eccentricities
  8. That is illegal as well. I hope someone will prosecute the conspirators.
  9. All the best to you and Ukraine !
  10. Thai police daring to comment the safety of riding a one-wheeled motorcycle while not acting upon others riding the wrong way, underage driving, 3 or 4 people on motorcycles or without a driving license is pure comedy.
  11. yes, I got everything set up too. my upcoming DL renewal next year is the only issue I have spotted, I'm on the lookout for more potential issues.
  12. Yes. My question is about other potential restrictions a DTV holder could face vs. a Non-Imm visa holder. For example, possibly, opening a bank account ? What important administrative or legal processes require a Non-Imm visa ?
  13. I must say, as much as I am displeased by Trump's election win, I am also amused at the perspective of a spat between Putin and Trump, the latter trying to get a "deal" from Putin, getting humiliated by Putin and as a consequence sending even more firepower into Ukraine than Zelenskyy requests. Trump trying his best (or his worst - it's the same) to end the war in 24h will be amusing.
  14. I really like the built-in multiple entries. no need to ask for a re-entry permit with a DTV, right ?
  15. I own my condo, is this good enough to get a certificate of residence ? I can easily obtain a DTV, but I read somewhere that my current 5 year DL would then become 2 year temporary licences, which isn't great, and I hate going to the DLT, it's a lost day. Also many officials, such as cops, look at the driving license and things get much more relaxed when they see the violet strip. I still have a company in Thailand, just without me on the payroll.
  16. I mean, the DL might not be the only issue. Maybe there are issues for postpaid phone, car lease contracts, etc.
  17. I've had a non-B for over 10 years and now comes the time where I should probably switch to either a retirement visa or DTV. I read DTV isn't a non-imm visa type, so I could run into problems doing things that typically require a non-imm, such as renewing my driving licenses. What would you say are the pros and cons of each ?
  18. let's see how good ICBM are at staying in their lanes.
  19. I'm disgusted and appalled by the election results and now fear the future, even I'm not directly affected. I feel sorry for the minority of decent people in the USA who will have to endure what will come to them. Post-WW2 period has come to a definite end, we just entered pre-WW3 period. Scary thought.
  20. I hope the EU will fill the gap. What a terrible example the US voters just set. This will have far-reaching consequences.
  21. yes, he is - he's doing a great job. most of his posts are very funny! he's saying the same as you, but in a more entertaining way.
  22. to be fair, Kim anyway didn't want these soldiers to come home where they would tell everyone about how people live in Russia, and even more disturbing for them, in Ukraine. Chances are, even if they survived the war, they would have to remain in exile and communications with their families and friends back home would go through a filter.
