Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
tgw replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
do the research yourself. Trump has implied as much on several occasions, a recent one being where he said he would stop all aid to Ukraine and the war would then stop. -
so, he gave Starlink to Ukraine and then a little later, started interfering and becoming more pro-Russian and pro-Trump. I wonder what kompromat Putin's got on Musk, but I'm also pretty sure Musk was already a prick before. His move to buy Twitter is also highly suspect in this light.

It's so sad. How can those vile MAGA Reps look at themselves in the mirror? -
Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital

I completely agree with the Russians - and they already have the perfect buffer zones: Kursk Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, Belgorod Oblast, Rostov Oblast and Voronezh Oblast. -
ah, we now get into the realm of the "unwritten rules". rules #28 does not mention post length, it says that shortening a post is permitted. the rest of your post didn't add any context to the section I was responding to. my goal was to respond exactly to your reference to the "rogue cop defense", as suggested by rule #7 of the Code of Conduct. there is your good reason. my apologies to the rest of the readers for getting sucked into a "I'll report you because you broke the rules" discussion.

Wow, you needed some time to come up with that. I'll leave it to others who also understand the meaning of "context" to judge. I don't mean to infer that you don't understand the meaning of "context", even if your post would suggest otherwise. Maybe reporting my post as you suggested would provide clarity in the matter.

Details and circumstances are very important in such matters. Gun drawn after a hot pursuit ? In general yes, gun pointed towards the ground or towards the sky. after a hot pursuit of two t-shirt and shorts wearing tourists on scooters with little room to conceal weapons and ample police support around ? less so. and even less reason to point a gun at them. shooting the tires as suggested by another poster would be totally inappropriate, as two guys fleeing on scooters pose no threat, but attempting to shoot their tires would put other people at risk. but ... if I was driving a scooter and a cop pulled up beside me and shot in the air and then pointed his gun on me, I'd stop. but that apparently wasn't what happened. the story says the cop pursued and stopped them, then started filming them, and then somehow the situation escalated into disarming the cop. how ? that is the question on whihb the case hinges.

The short video shows two men restraining a cop and wringing his weapon from him without hitting him. To me it looks like they wanted the weapon to be out of the cop's reach until his colleagues arrived. But it's a short video and I might be wrong. But so far we only heard the cop's version of events. And yes, there is no assault in a self-defense situation.
-
Everyone should watch the video before commenting: The video looks like the two disarmed the cop and waited for the police to arrive, they absolutely don't look like they were assaulting the cop. I think it's fair to listen to their side of the story. Cops or soldiers pulling out guns, even shooting in the air and behaving erratically is common in Thailand. Also, I wonder how the car chase looked and what happened then, knowing what actions are usually taken by cops here, the car chase may well be characterized as attempted murder if the cop tried to ram their scooter. Speculations, let's wait to hear their side of the story.

Thai Language Course but already fluent in Thai?
tgw replied to Polotaz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
erm. Literature is different from fluency. Literature is about studying Thai writers and their works. -

He didn't say he's fluent in Japanese. He could also pick Mandarin. -

I think if you take bona fide classes, such as from a University, then it will be ok. -
Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
tgw replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
I won't display my paranoia, but when you post and somehow equate Ukraine's actions with those of Russia, could you please before posting ask yourself objectively "are they really doing the same, is it really comparable? " Dirlewanger's was a bunch of really bad people, whereas I suppose Ukraine would want to draft cigarette and alcohol smugglers, corrupt officials, tax evaders, maybe non-violent burglars, car thieves, forgers, etc. I might be wrong of course, but let's see the final bill as it is adopted by Verkhovna Rada. -
Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
tgw replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
So what you mean is, because you don't know the exact exclusions, you go on to publicly defame Ukraine, despite the measure not having been decided yet and there being clear signs that not all convicts and prisoners will qualify. -

I think you totally overlooked purposely ignored the list of exclusions of the proposed draft bill to post your usual misrepresentation of facts with the goal of discrediting Ukraine. In the very article you linked, it says: In comparison, Russia took several times murders and cannibals into the army. -
Swiss man who allegedly assaulted Thai doctor faces additional charges
tgw replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
wait ... charges for owning REGISTERED guns ? this whole story gets more ridiculous day after day. for this one Swiss scumbag who should answer for "kicking" (still waiting on the proof of the kicking - where are the haematomas) the doctor (not that it should make a difference who he kicked) - for that ONE scumbag, I see dozens of officials and officers abusing their power, peddling influence and intervening in the judicial process.
