What's this?
-
Sorry, I was trying to be funny! I need to check what my PM2.5 reading is. May not be driving the Seal for a few days.
-
What with your car skittering all over the road and now this latest issue, sounds to me like you've got a lemon, JB.
-
No problems with the floor mats. Have never had it at 150km/h. So far, I have charged following the instructions in the manual. I intend to continue doing so.
-
I'm very surprised to hear this. I have not experienced losing traction in my car on a dry road and I regularly floor it in sport mode. I find the car surprisingly stable. I haven't experimented on a wet road; I guess there would be wheel spin. As for the stuttering, I think I have only experienced that twice in nearly five months.

Now look what you’ve done announcing that MG have just launched a 100th Anniversary Special Edition ZS EV! It will give Transman the opportunity to reignite his one-man crusade, the purpose of which is remind us all about 1924, Morris Garages, performance rides, heritage, Union Jack flags on the boot/trunk door and the sacred British iconic MG name - and how we've all been duped by those devious, crafty Chinese into believing MG is still a British company. A worthy cause indeed and I, for one, wish him all the success he deserves for his endeavours. He's earned it. I’ve already written to my member of parliament in the UK and I encourage all true Brits to do the same!

Coccus?

One thing that I learnt from his video: Using the voice command, I can ask for the window(s) to be opened by, for example, 10%, or whatever percentage I want. "Open the driver's window 30%." Pretty neat!
-
Got as ar as this and stopped reading: "Because EVs are on average 30% heavier, brakes and tires on the battery-powered cars wear out faster than on standard cars." The author of the article has quite obviously no clue about how EVs work.

Probably too lazy more than anything. As much as I love what I can do and achieve with my MacBook Pro, I also hate it with a passion!

Thanks. I am either too stupid, too old or too lazy to work out what Android Auto and CarPlay are. I have Googled them but, as always seems to be the case with all things computer-related, the writer seems to think the reader already knows basic computer stuff/jargon. Can be quite annoying for me sometimes. I need an Android Auto and a CarPlay for dummies!

This guy has some interesting, helpful Seal tid-bits in his videos. His voice is rather odd! In this video he demonstrates holding the voice activation button, but it doesn't work for me. Anyone know why? https://youtu.be/X7Tw_F_SEH4?si=uy6FvWjp-u_8UU_0

Trainspotter:

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. It does show details when using a phone and the detail is in 3D. Is the 3D effect normal for HUD? The speed limit can also be displayed if I remember correctly. I have that turned off.

Here's another imagine scenario: Imagine, if you will, that for the past 100 years, all vehicles have been electric - petrol and diesel engines have never existed. Then, suddenly, car manufacturers and governments propose and promote a new way to power cars: They want us all to ditch the battery and electric motor and replace with a new-fangled internal combustion engine (ICE) - cast iron block with transmission, drive shaft, valves, cams, a differential, a crankshaft, pistons, an oil pump, an exhaust system, air filters, fuel injection, radiator, thermostat, fan, water pump, catalytic converters, pollution control devices etc. And every few hundred miles a petrol station visit will be necessary to pump 25 gallons of very expensive petrol or diesel into a tank under your back seat. And then you’ll have to pay huge servicing and repair bills because of all the moving parts - over 2000 in an ICEV compared to about 20 in an EV. Oh, and you’ll have to pay for new brake pads unlike EVs which rarely, if ever, need to be replaced because of the regenerative braking. Last, but not least: these new-fangled petrol/diesel ICE cars will make lots of noise and vibrate and pollute. And they will have sluggish acceleration compared to EVs. How do you think people would react to these new proposed ICEVs?

I have two BEV cars. I charge the Seal to 100% once a week as recommended by BYD, although the recommendation is a bit different every few months. I keep the other car at about 50% unless I'm taking it on a long journey. If a situation arose which required me to drive a long distance at short notice, I'd DC charge either car to whatever level I needed at one of several rapid chargers near my house. It would almost certainly take less than 30 minutes to charge, probably more like 15 minutes. I've never even thought of this scenario. I think the chances of this happening to me are close to zero. Such a situation arising for me is so unlikely that, if I only had one EV, I wouldn't worry about it.
-
In my experience, it’s almost certainly caused by rain. It looks so bad because no one has bothered to fix the problem for several years. The responsibility to fix it lies with either the owner above or, if the roof/balcony is common area, the condo management.
-
I have had something similar to what you’re describing. It only happened one time. It was almost like the car realised full power had been asked for and was selecting a lower gear, and, once it found the gear, it took off like a bat out of hell. Note: I know the car does not have gears.

Yeh, the SUV one I saw yesterday was Cosmic Yellow and I loved it!
-
Not quite woken up yet, JB?
-
A Changan Deepal drove past me in Khao Lak yesterday. Same old boring SUV shape, but there was something special about it. I'd love to see it up close but, from what I could see, it looked fantastic.

I read that the new right hand drive Seals will have the indicator stalk on the left side. How I'd love that! Having it on the right drives me crazy! (First world problem.)
-
Has anyone else seen the Electric Viking video about the transport mode button. (Sorry, I'm not in a position to include the video here.) I haven't checked, but I don't think my Seal has that button, but maybe I'm wrong.
-
I really wish you would stop posting all these negative things about EVs. I have two of them in the garage and now, because of you, I can't sleep at night worrying about the terrible mistake I've made. What a silly-billy I am!

I never had this problem with the ZS EV but, for sure, the tyres always "chirped" on full throttle from a standing start, even though the acceleration wasn't that great compared to other EVs. Sold it back in September or October and bought a Seal Performance.
