Sorry, on re-reading your post, I may have understood it. I’m not sure if you’d like the camera to turn on earlier or the beeps to sound earlier. Anyway, some of this may help: You can turn the camera on using one of the buttons on the left of the steering wheel. If you go to “Predictive Collision Warning” you can set it to Late, Moderate, Earlier or Off.

Thanks, but you mustn't have seen Mistral's quite amusing reply in which he already explained about the elusive button.
-
I'm afraid you'll have to wait until tomorrow morning for me to come back to you about this.
-
Ha! I seem to have the opposite problem. You know you can change the sensitivity level?
-
Agreed!
-
Hallelujah! Thanks so much for this. I thought I was going insane. The funny thing is, I found that button about a week ago and pressed it several times but couldn’t see anything obvious happening. I was driving at the time and thought I should come back to that later and find out what it’s for. I forgot all about it.

I must be missing something hiding in plain sight. In several photos of the steering wheel display screen I have noticed in the bottom right corner either “ODO XXX km”, “TRIP A XXX km” or “TRIP B XXX km”. How the heck do you get the TRIP figures to display? All I've got is "ODO". I have looked everywhere and cannot find any access to a trip feature. It’s obviously something very simple but I’m damned if I can find it.

I had an MG ZS EV for more than four years and, other than a dud 12V battery shortly after taking delivery, the car was fault free.
-
That's all I need to do - just press the button. It is not necessary to say "Hi BYD". Don't tell me the latest update requires you to speak to summon her!
-
Nothing unusual about this. I think it's preparing the battery for the onslaught.
-
I'm inclined to follow BYD's recommendation. I'd be surprised if they've got it wrong.
-
Yeh, you can but I could only describe how to do it if I was sitting in the car at the moment, which I'm not.

I don't believe you can disable her voice. It doesn't bother me. I like the way it types out what you say on the screen.

Chinese EV's set to disrupt Thai Automarket

Can you explain what you mean by this? -
And I've got an even older version than both of you.

I’ve just returned home after a 1200 km trip in my Seal Performance. The car drives beautifully; sporty feel, very stable and sure-footed, good steering, good brakes. Very comfortable. So much about the car is brilliant, I could talk all day. So I am just going to list some of the things I don’t like: For me, the driving assist features, including cruise control, are a disaster. I really persevered to try and find settings which I could live with. I failed. Eventually, I gave up and turned everything off. Heaven! I just hope BYD can tweak the software in the future to make it brilliant and usable and not almost brilliant and unusable as it is at the moment. Note: my car does not have the latest software update so it’s possible the latest version has some improvements already. One of the good things about the driving assist is how well the Seal can “see“ the lines on the road. It detects, even in heavy rain, very badly worn and faint lines. The air recirculation keeps switching off (and on) by itself. This is very annoying. Maybe the car is very smart and it’s doing so because it has a sensor which detects high humidity inside the car. Who knows? This may be why we could smell exhaust fumes inside the car, although it seems we could still smell them even when the recirculation was on. I had one problem charging overnight: although I definitely had it turned off, the timed charging turned itself on and the car stopped charging at five minutes past midnight. I reset it to off and the problem didn’t occur again. There are lots of voice commands that the car understands - much more than the recommended ones in the manual. You just have to experiment and change the way you say things. This is great as it means you often don’t have to mess about finding buried stuff in the infotainment display, although I've yet to discover the correct command for switching between seat memories. Funny: no matter how many times my Thai girlfriend tries, the car cannot understand her accent. I love it! There are a few messages on the display behind the steering wheel that you’ll need a magnifying glass to read. I don’t know what they were thinking when they designed this. Annoying! The turn signal stalk is on the right side. It’s on the left in my other car. Wiper frenzy. Drives me bonkers! The aperture of the boot/trunk is not the greatest. The height is the problem.

I asked but was told I wasn't allowed to choose the company.
-
I could be mistaken, but I don't believe there are any BYD sanctioned optional extras for the Seal - unless individual dealerships are offering non-official options like window film.
-
Ha! My dealership told me, a couple of weeks ago, that I will get a little red alert on my infotainment display screen and, when that happens, I am to drive to the dealership and they will do the update for me.

The available differing views from the multitude of onboard cameras is fantastic. Brilliant for parking really close to a kerb, for example.
-
This seems to be absolutely brilliant. Almost too good to be true. Unfortunately I have already installed my 70mai, otherwise I'd have this in a heartbeat.
-
Wow! You must be a very fine gentleman to know!
-
Very good! I do not have solar at home, but this is something that interests me very much, particularly the role that the Seal plays. By the way, would your post not sit more comfortably in either the “My EV can power my home” thread or even the “BYD Seal tips, tricks and help” thread?

I was experimenting with the cruise control during the drive, so the long, unexplained beeps may have something to do with that, although I doubt it. The cruise control, like the assistant tech, is almost brilliant. But, for me, it looks like it's gonna be unusable. And it's not because I'm driving on Thai roads. It's like your 95 year old, super-safe granny is driving. Except that she's so super-safe, she's dangerous and a liability - and a hopeless driver!

I had no film or shade for a few days after getting the car and I'm pretty sure the driver and front seat passenger aren't really aware of the view through the roof unless, of course, one makes an effort and looks up. Back seat passengers, I guess, would enjoy the view much more. I'm upcountry at the moment, 380 kms from home, so had a good run in the car. It's a real shame about all the assistance tech. It's almost brilliant - but almost is not good enough. It's a bit of a fiasco, to be honest. Pity! I'll write more about it when I come to some definite conclusions. You would think that they could tweak it with an update and make it work well, but it's obviously not that simple to achieve. I've read that it's been programmed to suit Chinese roads/driving. Sorry, but that makes no sense. One thing I'll mention now: There are the usual beeps which don't sound for long. Okay. But then, for no fathomable reason, the beeps sometimes sound for about 12 seconds and even, occasionally about 24 seconds. Good grief! If anyone knows why this happens, I'd love to know.
