Someone on the Seal FB is reporting a significant drop in range since updating. Anyone here see any drop?

You cannot balance using DC chargers.

Or putting a lot of people off buying condos.

And the tedious, boring, clueless haters have been excluded. How sad!

Regarding the latest Seal software update: I see that, with the latest update, the pedestrian alert sounds will be gone with no way to turn them back on. Although I don't like them, I would really prefer to have them and have the option of turning them on and off; kinda funny! I'll miss them. For a start, what am I gonna do with the freezer full of Häagen-Dazs ice cream?

I just checked mine again. Yes, I have the vocal guidance working, but her voice only comes from the front passenger side of the car. Anyone know how to fix that??
-
All I can tell you is that my navigation has had audio since I first tried it, I think. I may have done something to turn it on but, if I did, I have no idea what that could have been. Sorry I can't help more. There's no doubt the operation of the tech in the Seal could be more user friendly.

My version is even older than yours and my dealership told me I had to wait until I get a little red alert on my screen. When I get the alert, I then take the car to the dealership and they will update for me. I have my doubts about this. I'm sure all will be revealed in due course. The question is, when?

The Seal was only launched in the UK two or three weeks ago and already they’ve updated the software in the UK cars. Some of the improvements: The steering weight has been changed; also the sensitivity of the parking sensors; they’ve made the warning tones sound less aggressive and dialled back the crazy, wrist-breaking steering wheel jerking when using the lane keep assist. Improvements in the lane keeping assist would be very welcome. Mine is unusable, even dangerous. I’ve still got the Fred Flintstone software and no sign of any update yet.

Thanks for this; really appreciated. I now believe I understand the why’s and wherefores which make it all logical and therefore easy to do. Just to be 100% sure, is this all okay? A) GRANNY CHARGING: To start the charging: 1. Insert the EV Mode 2 Charging Cable power plug into a household socket. 2. Connect to the vehicle port by inserting the charging connector into the vehicle socket. To end the charging: 1. Make the car terminate charging. 2. Disconnect the charging connector from the vehicle socket. 3. Disconnect the plug from the household socket. B) CHARGING USING A 7.4KW WALL BOX: To start the charging: 1. With the breaker on, plug the charging connector into the vehicle socket. To end the charging: 1. Make the car terminate charging. 2. Disconnect the charging connector from the vehicle socket. 3. Shut off the breaker.

Regarding the procedure when charging at home using either a granny charger or a 7.4kW wall box, this is something that I noticed in the manual and I would like comments from people who know about stuff like this. I guess this is one for you, JBChiangrai: Are you happy with the plugging in/disconnecting sequence with both Granny and wallbox as described below? You’ll notice I have inserted two questions in the CHARGING USING A 7.4kW WALLBOX section. A) GRANNY CHARGING: To start the charging: 1. Insert the EV Mode 2 Charging Cable power plug into a household socket. 2. Connect to the vehicle port by inserting the charging connector into the vehicle socket. To end the charging: 1. Disconnect the charging connector from the vehicle socket. 2. Disconnect the power plug from the household socket. B) CHARGING USING A 7.4kWh WALLBOX: To start the charging: 1. Plug the charging connector into the vehicle socket. Should the breaker beside the wallbox be on or off before plugging into the car? To end the charging: 1. Disconnect the charging connector from the vehicle socket. Should the breaker be on or off before disconnecting the charging connector? Thank you.

Up until this morning, I had been using the voice command feature to turn on the seat ventilation. I had been using two commands: “Turn on the seat ventilation” (this turned on the driver’s seat only) and “Turn on the seat ventilation on the passenger side”. Two separate commands required. Tedious! But this morning my life became significantly more simple. I discovered that by saying, “Turn on seat ventilation in the front”, both seats are turned on simultaneously. This discovery also lead me to saying, “Change air con in the front to 24 degrees” resulting in both sides changing to 24 degrees. Before this I had been using two separate commands, one for each side.

I think I must have tried that, plus lots of other combinations of presses, clicks and scrolls. But now I've got your definite method, I'll give it a go. Thank you!

Based on my research, mostly on American forums, I have come to the conclusion that none of them are worth doing and that, as JB says, a good wax every six months is a better idea.

Sorry, I didn't even look at the photos. I thought you were asking a simple question. I now understand what you were on about.

Changan is a car manufacturing company. They make several marques, one of which is Deepal.

Okay, just learnt something: I mentioned in an earlier post that, even when set at recirculation mode, we could still smell exhaust fumes inside the car. Some Thai owners have reported the same on Facebook. The solution, someone says, is to turn off the “PM 2.5”. I guess this must refer to the air purification gizmo. Interesting! There's another gem for you, JBChiangRai.

Wrong thread.

There are positives if you have to wait until January. 1) It'll be a 2024 car. 2) You'll have learnt even more fascinating, riveting and intriguing tips and info from the BYD Seal tips, tricks and help thread.

Ha! I'm guessing they didn't know how to set it up. My installation went quite smoothly until we tried to test it to see if it was working. It would not work. Long story, very short: To get it working, an app, wifi and bluetooth are needed and a whole lot of faffing about, which the manual does not explain. The installers knew nothing about this. They were not even aware that an app is needed. I don’t know how she did it, but my girlfriend somehow eventually got the damned thing working.

Is it not a simple matter of selecting the front camera, which shows a red line, and approaching the wall using the red line as a guide? You'll need to practise a few times, creeping forward and getting in and out of the car to check, until you learn exactly where the red line needs to be so you are really close to the wall. Once you've got it, that's it! No tennis ball needed. Hope this makes sense.

I got Midas. 60% all round; 80% on the glass roof.

Sorry I've been so slow to come back to you about this. I tried to change the tyre pressure default to something else, but it always reverted to tyre pressures. But then yesterday, with no input from me, it changed to "Last 50kms AEC" and stayed there. Even when I changed it back to tyre pressures, it reverted to "Last 50 kms AEC". So it looks like you can change the default, but how to do it is a mystery to me.

Sorry, but that's too much for my little brain! All I can tell you is that my car's beeps change to constant when I get close (I think about 30cms?) to a wall and I get a red "STOP" on the screen. I'm not sure if this happens if the wall is directly in front of the car, but it definitely happens if it's at the side and I'm approaching it at an angle.

I just reversed my Seal into the garage. I deliberately drove close to a wall and, as I got close to it, the beeps were quite fast and then, when I got closer, the beeps changed to a constant tone. Love that it's quadraphonic!
