  1. Thank you for replying to my thread but not sure who you are taking to... The new computer I just bought is great and I am very happy with it! Has just what I need.
  2. Thank you for your suggestion but I found their website confusing - probably just me! Going to the Advice store was a really easy and pleasant experience with lots of service that you don't get online. I love shopping online for fast delivery and good prices and sometime selection but this recent experience has me leaning towards in person purchases...
  3. Thank you to everyone who posted! I got lucky and found that Advice in Chiang mai has a small retail shop but a large local warehouse so i could set and look at `100s of models already made and pick just what I needed - fun experience. I go the best of both worlds a good price and great service! They setup the computer for me Windows -Office etc and walked me through home setup with a line video call. All went smoothly except I had an old monitor with the screw-in type connection which y digital copter did not support. Luckily I had another newer monitor on hand which worked well. Then they helped me find an ASUS router expert to setup in bridge mode 4 routers on my farm. All in all I had fund shopping! Thanks again!
  4. Very interesting I do zero gaming this will be an office computer but i will for with lots go photos for my website. Later I will upgrade my standard monitor.
  5. Very helpful! Thank you. I only knew about the Central Festival store which is small.
  6. Agree on Invades stock and prices but the website user friendly which counts for a lot at least with me...
  7. Thank you! Good to know. Advice was about 2,000 baht cheaper than InvadeIt for the same model! But I couldn't find how to show teh website in English - am I missing something?
  8. The asus site was not easy to navigate to what I want if could order it I would do so...
  9. I understand - I want a PC tower (no monitor needed) Core i5, SSD hard drive, 16GB Ram and a 3 year onsite warranty. My budget is mid 20s
  10. I am in Chiang Mai do they have branch here? If so I will go tomorrow morning.
  11. Thank you for the ideas but: JIB online is mostly sold-out of desktops and their store in the mall did not have much. Amazon would be very difficult to deal with if there was any problem...
  12. Interesting idea, thank you - I went to their websites and didn't see how to order direct - I will look again
  13. Best online computer store in Thailand with good customer service in English for core i5 desktop computers? I want to quickly buy an ASUS or Dell Desktop computer with a core i5 and 16 GB of RAM and a 3 year onsite warranty - other good brands considered... I don't need a monitor. I also need a high end ASUS router for a large two story building. I know about Invade IT - good service but not much in stock... Thank you!
  14. Best post in this thread by far! I am used to seeing an expert specialist with no appointment in Chiang mai at a cost that is probably the same or less than a US copay. I think if I went home I would experience reverse culture shock... But if my kids settle down in the US i will have no choice but to move back.
  15. You are right, but at the most I have been asked by immigration for 400,000 and that's only for I think two months before the annual extension - not sure but is retirement 800,000? I have two kids in high school so until college is done I will be working... maybe longer as I like to work.
  16. I do - maybe that is the answer - just charge the first expenses... Good thinking
  17. I wonder how much cash I need - normally except for day to expenses and immigration bank balances I keep funds in dividend stocks... could take a few days to sell...
  18. Sheryl, Thank you They are about double the price for about five times the coverage and probably a lot better service...
  19. Is teh Pacific Cross travel insurance a good plan? I need to make a 2 or 3 week trip to the US next year...
  20. Great post! Let me add one detail I want teh wholesale rate teh insurance companies get for my deductible. Example when my daughter was born the total bill may have been $10,000 (not sure a long time ago...) and my deductible was $2,000 but my $2,000 was already discounted from the public rate to the rate Kaiser pays. This is good - I could not find taht type of insurance in Thailand.
  21. If your age and health prevent insurance with coverage why would it be foolish to self insure? I agree that you need more than 500,000 baht put aside for care in a private hospital and after seeing teh horrible conditions in public hospitals I would not consider them for anything except a car accident when they are close by...
  22. Very good advice given to you - I have been here for more than 15 years and never have the experiences that you describe. Just relax and don't be so sensitive. On occasion faring will get charged higher prices - which doesn't hurt me in any way.
