  1. I remember about/at least 20 years ago a fellow drinker from Pattaya was working in Singapore and had been drinking in Boat Quay (Maggie May?), he was calculating his change from a round of 4 and realised it had come to £20. The barman was watching him and giggling "ha ha you think mistake, think change wrong" he nodded affirmatively and got "ha ha, no, happy hour half price."
  2. When I first arrived in SE Asia in 1977 the first drink I had was in Raffles, a 330 ml draught Carlsberg which cost over £6. Can't remember which bar, but the exchange rate was about 2.70 and that still hurt especially coming from South Africa. Coming up here it was all much easier on the pocket and got easier by the day. So just been wondering what today's price is.
  3. I did too, a long while ago not sure what the policy is now they were always chopping and changing. I was meaning to recommend the low beer prices but I don't remember the Beer Garden being a cheap option so perhaps he's not price conscious.
  4. You surprise me Mr S, that is exactly what you expect from the poorly educated masses, not from distinguished people. But it does not only come from the Scottish, those from Northern Ireland and Wales are almost as bad. It's simply a case of "small man syndrome". England are the Big Dog in the UK and the little fellas naturally resent this that's all. Now be about your business my good fellow.

  20. There is a lot in this, particularly point 2. The lack of intelligence can also refer to lack of experience, I am thinking of specific instances here.
