  1. I have looked him up. You made the comment "about religion", ref violence in Ulster which shows that you have or had no understanding of the situation. I explained simply the reality of things which you do not seem to have read.
  2. Of course I've heard of Paisley and I read the Shankill Butchers book years ago. I am still a member of the three loyal orders so I do know what is what. And now I need my sleep.
  3. You are the one who asked was this in the name of religion, indicating minimal knowledge of the subject you were speaking of. No idea who Norman Porter was and bully for you for going to Uni, I didn't go I left school at sixteen. I have been to Belfast and the Shankill many times, though not for some years, so I do have some knowledge and experience. Hope this does not burst your bubble of assumed superiority.
  4. The two sides are of different faiths, but they were not fighting over the real presence in the mass or the efficacy of indulgences. One side sees themselves as Irish and want a 32 county Irish Republic, the other is British and are determined to maintain the Union with the Crown and the status of the six counties of Northern Ireland as an integral part of the United Kingdom. Why not balance your reading matter with a report of RC/Irish Republican terrorists going into a Protestant Church service and indiscriminately murdering members of the congregation. Anyway, happy to have been able to provide some education. Wish I had a quid for every time I've heard some sanctimonious know-nothing talk about them fighting over religion.
  5. He split with Rome because the Pope would not annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. Henry did not introduce any of the Protestant Reformers theology into the Church.
  6. Henry was a classic devout RC, he had a dispute with the Pope but no dispute with Popery.
  7. Well there's no mention of one in the Bible
  8. Not defending anyone just meaning exactly what I said. I have never known any eating place require you to remove shoes before entering, but if they did I would comply or just go elsewhere. No big deal. Carrying on like that is as unacceptable as a shirtless male in a bar or eatery. Sounds like you deliberately twist what you read in order to sound off.
  9. You don't take shoes off in many cafes either.
  10. Also teaching strange things about wafers and insisting everybody believe them.
  11. Don't worry about damo's post he must be the nastiest on here, that's all he comes out with.
  12. And the 1.4 billion (if that is an accurate figure) worship wafers so don't need to be taken too seriously.
  13. And how about their economy.? China is fairly stuffed, same with USA, I forget about Japan, so if not Russia who else will save the world ?
  14. I remember that but didn't realise it was so long ago.
  15. Don't know why the Thai wife didn't get a mention.
  16. He can't even spell it. Must be a champion.
  17. Thanks to all for your positive efforts on my behalf, much appreciated.
  18. My lifestyle is as healthy as I can make it at my age, no alcohol for about a year, not smoked for many decades and didn't smoke much then. TIT
  19. The title means that I was curious why a small amount of wine is ok but no amount of beer. Sheryl read and understood my point and answered my query. No I do not have an addiction, I have enough problem getting two litres of water a day down my throat for my kiidneys no desire to be throwing ale down it every day.
  20. It was curiosity, why a very small amount of wine is ok but no amount of beer. Sheryl cleared it up for me.
  21. Thank you very much for that Sheryl, no further need for the thread.
  22. And if I may ask one more question ss, is a limited quantity of Heineken 0.0 (abv 0.03%) a problem.? I am thinking of 4 or 5 bottles a week. In fact as I was typing that I was thinking best to keep it to 1 or 2 a week or keep it to none as I did for about a year.
  23. Thanks for that ss, pity I was never made aware of 1 & 2 before the treatment instead of finding out the hard way, but still...... I had radiotherapy for prostate cancer 16 years ago in London and that was no problem, I was doing permanent nights at the time and it was a bit tiring but the absence of any after effects gave me false expectations of no problem with this lot.
