Ukrainian forces lose access to Maxar satellite

I'm always rather astonished the amount of trust trump supporters place on his claims. So far as I know trump personally hasn't closed any international diplomacy deals to end conflicts (surrendered to Taliban) and very few trade deals. Trump's renowned for unilaterally withdrawing from / cancelling international agreements, but otherwise.... -

Interesting clarification on the use of Starlink and Starshield use in Ukraine, one has to assume there are Top Secret T&Cs Ukrainian officials have acknowledged their over-reliance on Starlink but could not find an equivalent in terms of coverage or quality of service.[42] A US Department of Defense official said in 2022 that other entities existed to provide communications on the battlefields in Ukraine as an alternative to Starlink.[77] A contractual arrangement with SpaceX for Starlink in Ukraine, as well as Starshield, a separate military-focused version of Starlink, seem to have been the solutions chosen by the DoD and SpaceX against the restrictions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starlink_in_the_Russian-Ukrainian_War#:~:text=SpaceX said that to the, doesn't work in Russia. -

OK. I had understood imagery was cut off after Zelensky WH meeting. We do know trump has ceased supply of military intelligence which one assumes has more 'value' than Starlink. Musk has now promised to keep Starlink available for Ukraine, For sure Musk would terminate at trump's instruction; for the meantime... https://www.voanews.com/a/after-poland-spat-musk-vows-ukraine-can-keep-starlink/8004518.html -

No need to be rude; are you a MAGA supporter? As I understand currently Starlink and a few others are temporally banned. I assume. unless the talks in KSR progress more bans will be applied. Some more detail below as of 7 March... https://breakingdefense.com/2025/03/nga-suspends-ukraines-access-to-commercial-satellite-imagery/ -

Yes, unprovoked. It's not Russia's legal prerogative to dictate what a sovereign state can or cannot do within their own territory.I suggest you might learn some truths by not condoning BS from trump and Co or other pro Russian propaganda outlets. -

Your immersion in MAGA world is extremely annoying. Would be great if you did some fact checking before posting your drivel. e.g. https://apnews.com/article/usaid-funding-trump-musk-misinformation-c544a5fa1fe788da10ec714f462883d1 -

No: Russia has killed tens of thousands and some hundreds of thousands of their own people have been killed. Since at least 2014 Russia has been acting illegally by attacking a sovereign nation. How about changing your tune and acknowledge the truth. Putin is at fault for the insurgency and invasion, thereby creating god knows how many dead and injured and destruction of infrastructure. -

Firstly it isn't "my war"; it's Putin's unprovoked and illegal invasion, Prior to this it was Russian insurgency that generated approx 10,000 deaths in the Donbas region commencing 2014. Ukraine was losing territory in Eastern Ukraine during trump's first Presidency due to the Russian insurgency. It's been reported hundreds of Ukrainians have been killed since trump stopped providing satellite intelligence and arms resupply. Please stop your nonsense and apologist crap for trump and Putin. Shame NZ isn't being invaded by PRC, then you could keep occupied lobbying for surrender for "peace". -

Don't you think Zelensky, representing the Ukrainian people and Cabinet, should be the one outlining the rules for disengagement. As has been said, for some unfathomable reason trump has handed over the "cards" to Russia by enabling Putin's military to kill even more Ukrainians and take over more territory prior to finalising an agreement. Why has trump made these decisions, one would think isn't so stupid not to know the outcome of his recent decisions. So again I ask why as I can only conclude he is a traitor to Western democracy or utterly stupid. -

As required by forum rules please provide link to Biden cancelling delivery of Javelin missiles. As I understand Biden lifted sanctions on a new pipeline to Germany for their energy needs, not to appease Russia. -

Churchill gave some advantages to USSR at Yalta and prior. Stalin occupied a number of countries, contrary to agreements to hand back (remember Iron Curtain). Sure terrible number of casualties mainly due to Stalin's tactics. But this OP is not about WW11 so no more from me on this matter. -

No. Russia is the aggressor, it's for Russia to pull out from a sovereign country territory, though we know it not going to happen whilst trump is supporting Russia. -

Not before Germany invaded Russia, gave them no option. USSR had previously cooperated with the Nazis to invade Poland. Don't be silly, Western democracies have aided Ukraine to resist the Russian invasion, plus the Russians had an insurgency war in Easter Ukraine since 2014 with approx 10,000 deaths and the illegal annexation of Ukraine. Now with trump handing over advantages to the Russian Ukrainian deaths will increase as the Russians try to seize more land. Why didn't trump, who claims to have such a wonderful relationship with Putin insist on a ceasefire by both sides rather than giving all the advantages to the Russians - shameful behaviour. -
trump and Co are a very virulent form of cancer which is likely to metastasis and destroy many US institutions.
-
Yep. Most would have to via coalition process, so some balance. Not so with the current US government owning both Houses. Plus of course the ongoing very active process by trump and Co to destroy US institutions who should provide support and enablement of Rule of Law with sycophants e.g. Justice and FBI.
-
Typical MAGA reverse logic. It's trump who is weaponising the Justice Department. and FBI.

Utterly ridiculous. You're saying might should win in complete contradiction to World Order for the past 80 years. Russia has already increased the tempo of violence in Ukraine in a effort to gain more Ukrainian territory before a peace deal, a well worn tactic. trump is currently trying to enable a win for Russia who have been an enemy of Western democracy since the end of WW11. To repeat, trump is a traitor to Western democratic ideals.- 160 replies

He won by 1.5% of the votes, a very slim margin to completely change the political culture of the US. My gut feeling is the US population will deeply regret voting into power an authoritarian who will overthrow the Rule of Law by appointing even more sycophants and destroy US influence overseas with democratic countries. Likely the eventual outcome will be economic depression in the US. e.g. I recall last time trump was in power the US tax payer had to subsidise some industries by tens of billions of dollars whilst at the same time the trade gap increased in favour of PRC i.e. failure of policy.

Snipped for brevity. Before posting again I suggest you look up forum rules. BTW I hold citizenship for three countries.

Firstly Trump fired any Justice Department prosecutors who participated in investigations against him. Removed security clearances of intelligence people who have criticised him. Signed an Executive Order removing security clearances and banning from federal buildings any lawyer who assisted in impeachment investigations against him Signed an Executive Order requiring any plaintiff wishing to challenge the legality of Trump's actions in Court to provide, up front, a bond covering the totality of Government legal costs, to be forfeited if the case fails. The above are clearly designed to oppress any opposition using the Courts to restrain him. It should ne noted Putin used similar techniques to gradually suppress opposition in Russia. Does this trend not cause concern for the American voting public, let alone handing all the "cards" to Russia in their war against Ukraine, tariffs for tax collect and so on?

Trump is a traitor to Democratic forces stopping access to essential services for Ukraine. The result being more Ukrainian deaths at the hands of the invader. Ukrainian access to U.S. government-purchased commercial satellite imagery, which includes Maxar, was suspended, a National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) spokesperson told ABC News. The development came after the U.S. paused intelligence sharing with Ukraine. https://abcnews.go.com/International/russia-conducts-massive-aerial-attack-ukraine-overnight/story?id=119543077
