Second Assassination Attempt-Secret Service get Trump to safety
simple1 replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
<snipped for brevity> Of course you're also free to vote for whoever you wish. though IMO you will be in the minority by voting for trump, as has been the case for the last two elections by millions of votes. Maybe one day US will get rid of the Electoral College - LOL -
Second Assassination Attempt-Secret Service get Trump to safety

Cannot comprehend why people such as you keep defending trump. he has a proven record of lies / misinformation for years and close connections to some of the worst of the worst racists / white supremacists. trump is the 'swamp' not those people 'over there' he keeps deflecting about. Even dedicated Republicans now reject him, of course the corrupt Republicans stay on with him in the hope they will keep in power. IMO they all deserve to be in jail for failure to abide by their Oath of Office. -

Has trump toned down his rhetoric....No. Also don't forget he has never apologised for calling immigrants vermin who are poisoning the blood of America, media are the enemies of the people etc etc etc Long past due for trump to put up or shut up, but we know it ain't going to happen. -

Second Assassination Attempt-Secret Service get Trump to safety

Maybe so, kind of expected on social media, but not by political leadership. Look at the outpouring of BS on this forum with the lies by Vance and trump regards Springfield. Anyone with a bit of nouse knows trying to kill a political opponent in the Western world increases votes for the opposition I'm sure if it were an attempt on the life of a Dem leader MAGA would be cheering. -

An assassination attempt on trump is not supported by the Democrats, as very clearly publicly stated by their leadership, political violence is totally unacceptable. Unfortunately political violence is supported by extremists from both the left and right of politics. -

As per Forum Rules provide a credible link demonstrating Dems support "Open Borders". As repeatedly posted the Bi Partisan legislation for Border Control was stopped by trump via his surrogates to ensure the Dems couldn't have a win prior to the election. Pure speculation, but you never know, could be contributing to attempts on trump's life. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/republicans-kill-border-bill-sign-trumps-strength-mcconnells-waning-in-rcna137477 -

And trump's hateful rhetoric has nothing to so with this? Personally I think murdering trump would be a great mistake for the stability of the US. I'm certain the Dems leadership would have the same POV. -

Do you want President Harris to pardon Trump?

Fully understand the meaning of Free Speech. What you obviously don't wish to acknowledge is trump and co abusing the right of Free Speech to generate hate and division. Excellent examples are trump's advisor Stephen Miller, Orban and influencer Laura Loom whom he appears to quote verbatim. Some Western countries are beginning to put some legislation in place in an endeavour to address the in plain sight abuse of 'rights' by some politicians and agitators - one knows extremists strenuously object and why. -

IMO "Freedom of Speech" in the US context is poisonous and thoroughly abused. I bet the Founders never thought the likes of trump would be accepted as a President of the USA. IMO the Constitution should be completely revamped to reflect modern times, but the political environment is so corrupted it will not happen.. For sure the Constitution is not reflected in the behaviour of the current Republican Party, except a very few, they have totally failed to abide by their Oath of Office and not worthy of the title Congressmen / Senator. -

No, nor prison for trump. House Detention for life and removal from all social media platforms, including no interviews for public broadcast. Anyone disseminating his lies and misinformation, if convicted, to face jail time. -
FBI / DoJ states otherwise and other fact checked lies by trump. Violent crime surged during the pandemic, with homicides increasing nearly 30% in 2020 over the previous year — the largest one-year jump since the FBI began keeping records. But FBI data released in June shows that the overall violent crime rate declined 15% in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period last year. One expert has cautioned, however, that those figures are preliminary and may overstate the actual reduction in crime. On Friday, Trump cited numbers he said were from the “bureau of justice statistics” to claim crime was up. This appears to be a reference to the National Crime Victimization Survey recently released by the Justice Department, which shows that the number of times people were victims of violent crime increased by about 40% from 2020 to 2023. The report notes, however, that while the rate of violent victimizations in 2023 was higher than it was in 2020 and 2021, it was not statistically different from the rate in 2019, when Trump was president. https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-misinformation-trump-california-news-conference-a02862f23ebb777057842803e37eff80

I agree in principle with the headline, though it would cause too much discord; better would be house arrest and ban on social media. "The law provides that a defendant who is on pre-trial release in a criminal case, if he poses a danger to society or even one person in society, he should be revoked on release and detained pending trial," Kirschner said. Trump Vows to Make Overtime Pay Tax-Free: ‘Finally Catch a Break’
simple1 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Are you claiming Americans on low hourly rates who work overtime can afford the above? I find that difficult to believe. The federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour for seven years. This is a poverty wage, and has an effect on wages for millions of jobs. Overall, 58.3 million workers (43.7 percent) earn under $15 an hour; 41.7 million (31.3 percent) earn under $12 an hour. https://www.oxfamamerica.org/explore/countries/united-states/poverty-in-the-us/low-wage-map/#:~:text=The federal minimum wage has, earn under %2412 an hour. -

Sounds more like employer exploitation. So may Americans are on low hourly rates. In a sense it's an insult to encourage them to work overtime, you know a thing called work / life balance or isn't that recognised for the low paid in the US for quality of life? -

Sure, when you are on a low hourly rate, as are so many American workers who are compelled to work overtime to pay their costs. -
Article makes logical sense considering one of trump's senior advisers is Stephen Miller, a well known white Supremacist. / Great Replacement conspiracy theorist. Republican pollster Sarah Longwell on Friday morning found herself incredulous that Republicans who were highly skeptical of former President Donald Trump are now expressing dismay that he's hanging out with hardcore racists such as Laura Loomer.. Writing on X, Longwell slammed some of her former political allies who seemingly believe that they can manipulate Trump away from embracing far-right extremists despite the fact that he has made a habit of doing so for nearly a decade now. "People who are clutching their pearls over Trump hanging out with conspiracy theorist lunatic Laura Loomer are cracking me up," she wrote. "Guys, Trump is the chief lunatic conspiracy theorist. He’s not 'being influenced,' he’s just hanging out with people who think the same way he does." 'Case studies in delusion': GOP pollster buries formerly Trump-skeptical Republicans (msn.com)

trump certainly did not cut government spending in his first term. In fact government spending increased significantly e.g. national debt increased by 39%. I suggest you're indulging in wishful thinking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_policy_of_the_Donald_Trump_administration#:~:text=Despite saying during the 2016,trillion in 2023) in 2019. -

Sounds good, but where are the costing. Does he plan to replace the lost tax revenue and how? Hopefully not by cutting welfare services, though wouldn't be surprised.
