Truth bomb: walz older brother is 100% opposed to all his ideology
simple1 replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Interesting, there is a report they haven't spoken for eight years. One wonders what has triggered the spitefulness - yet more nastiness. The ground is of course set by trump with his vicious bile towards anyone who disagrees with him - all quite sad. -
Trump's Political Strategy: Shifting Blame for Afghanistan to Harris
simple1 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
If I'm not mistaken 'allies' rereferred to NATO forces. The Taliban and Afghan government peace negotiations were subject to a separate process, The Intra-Afghan negotiations. The Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan, commonly known as the United States–Taliban deal or the Doha Accord,[1] was a peace agreement signed by the United States and the Taliban on 29 February 2020 in Doha, Qatar, to bring an end to the 2001–2021 war in Afghanistan.[2][3] Negotiated for the US by Zalmay Khalilzad for the Trump administration, the agreement did not involve the then Afghan government.[4] The deal, which also had secret annexes, was one of the critical events that caused the collapse of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) intra-Afghan negotiations were scheduled to begin on March 10, 2020. The provisions of the deal included the withdrawal of all NATO troops from Afghanistan, a Taliban pledge to prevent al-Qaeda from operating in areas under Taliban control, a Taliban pledge to not attack United States troops, (note no mention of Afghan government forces) and talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government Some more detail: https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_departments/Parliamentary_Library/pubs/rp/rp2122/Quick_Guides/BackgroundToAfghanistanWithdrawal#:~:text=Intra-Afghan negotiations were intermittent,Taliban's version of Sharia law. -

You mentioned Taliban should not have attacked the Afghan government as they were any ally of the US. I again highlighted the US Taliban agreement for US forces withdrawal had no requirement for the Taliban to cease attacks on Afghan government forces. Negotiations between Afghan government and Taliban were meant to be a separate process after the US Taliban agreement called the Intra-Afghan negotiations commencing in March 2020. https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/us-taliban-peace-deal-agreement-afghanistan-war -

No. Cannot lay blame for a specific incident of a suicide bomber attack. So far as I know don't believe any President has been blamed for a specific suicide attack, except by trump against Biden -

Incorrect. The Afghan government was not a signatory to the US Taliban Agreement. I've already posted a credible link, but just for you... The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (the Afghan Government) did not participate in these talks. https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_departments/Parliamentary_Library/pubs/rp/rp2122/Quick_Guides/BackgroundToAfghanistanWithdrawal#:~:text=The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,135 days of the agreement. -

The then Afghan government was excluded from any 'peace agreement' with the Taliban, basically a betrayal by the trump administration. The Taliban agreed to cease attacks against coalition forces, but not the then Afghan government forces. To expect the Taliban to enter peace negotiations with the Afghan government was farcical. US-Taliban agreement The Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan which is not recognized by the United States as a state and is known as the Taliban and the United States of America (US-Taliban Agreement) was made on 29 February 2020. The US-Taliban Agreement was the impetus for the withdrawal of US and allied forces from Afghanistan. The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (the Afghan Government) did not participate in these talks. https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_departments/Parliamentary_Library/pubs/rp/rp2122/Quick_Guides/BackgroundToAfghanistanWithdrawal#:~:text=With the US-Taliban Agreement, its strategy to retake Afghanistan. -

Plus trump agreed to have 5,000 Taliban prisoners released without any negotiation with the then Afghan government. IMO it is ridiculous to blame Biden / Harris for the 13 US military killed by a suicide bomber, could have happened no matter who was in power - just political partisan posturing. -
Islam incorporates a number of Jewish memes such as Gabriel, Noah, Abrahamic prophets such as Abraham and Jesus, not eating pork etc plus figures such as Mary. Not surprising given Jews and Christians lived in the same region. The postulation that Allah (God in Islam) originated as a moon god first arose in 1901 in the scholarship of archaeologist Hugo Winckler. He identified Allah with a pre-Islamic Arabian deity known as Lah or Hubal, which he called a lunar deity. This notion has been dismissed by modern scholarship as being without basis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allah_as_a_lunar_deity#:~:text=Morey argued that "Allah" was,its popularized form as unevidenced.

Britain just signed the biggest-ever Brexit trade deal
simple1 replied to simple1's topic in Political Soapbox
True, but quite a lot of misinformation by some politicians; the British people were conned. -
Biden had inherited debt in the trillions from prior Administrations, a large component from trump's tax reductions for corporates, plus increased debt to stimulate the economy after Covid e.g. infrastructure spending etc. Current US national debt is approx 34 trillion dollars, around 120% of GDP; forecast to increase to $54 trillion in coming decade. However what percentage of current GDP is required to service the debt annually? Debt service amounted to 2.4% of the economy last year, CBO said, and is poised to rise to 3.1% this year and 3.9% in 2034. https://www.axios.com/2024/02/08/us-government-debt-gdp-interest-costs

Fair enough, but why make the comment about 'the left', same critique can also apply to 'the 'right' -
At last, good news for the UK! Britain will join one of the world’s largest trading blocs, with more than 500 million people, within months. Britain just signed the biggest-ever Brexit trade deal (msn.com)

Usual nonsense from the right of centre. In the first quarter of 2024 30,520 non EU citizens were deported. The numbers will increase as more government to government agreements are in-place. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Returns_of_irregular_migrants_-_quarterly_statistics#:~:text=Among the EU countries%2C France, and Belgium (6 965). Those convicted of criminal / terrorist offences must serve their time in prison prior to deportation or whole of life sentences for grievous offences.

Minor difference according to the survey. However, the conclusion is counter intuitive given the support for trump and his utterly ridiculous claims and conspiracy theories. Logic informs his supporters overall have a lower IQ. as does trump actually suggest "I love the poorly educated". -
