  1. It's an embarrassment for Oz government as refugee agreement overturned by PNG Supreme Court as breach of Human Rights.
  2. No misunderstanding by me. A referendum would not be abandoned due to poll/s feedback. It is crystal clear the attitude of those 'informing' the No vote. The garbage feeding feed into the community was the feed by extreme right negativity. The only method of creating new laws in Oz is via the State or Federal government, this fact was totally ignored by those generating the fog of ignorance.
  3. The 'NO' campaign was non-stop with misinformation, unsupported allegations, assumptions and so on. The PM and 'Yes' supporters failed to counter the nonsense. Dutton should hang his head in shame, I doubt Dutton will ever become PM as he is so divisive.
  4. Personally I have not read of any Hamas females or children crossing into Israeli territory in this latest act of war. The info would have been passed onto media by IDF. Civilians, including children, are being killed during Israeli air strikes in Gaza which has already already been reported. The killings by all parties to the never ending conflict sits at the feet of the so called 'leaders'.
  5. A step in the right direction; IDF have confirmed 1,500 Hamas people killed so far within Israeli borders. https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/israel-hamas-war-gaza/card/1-500-hamas-fighters-found-dead-in-israel-0ppowzuulvLg2sWKsXPz
  6. Do the ADF deliberately target and kill children as a matter of policy? To a degree Israel has bought this current round of fighting on themselves with the expansion of settlements and 'settler' violence. Personally I do not understand the Hamas attack as for sure it will lead to massive civilian casualties in Gaza. Maybe Hamas are seeking to disrupt the Abraham Accords and prisoners / hostages as a tool to leverage release of Israeli held prisoners and concession - not likely to succeed. Personally I doubt Hezbollah with engage in open warfare with Israel.

  8. OP: Some years ago I moved from Caboolture to Pattaya. Cannot remember the Oz removalist, but the Thai end was handled by Asian Tigers so give them a call / email to see who they now use in Brisbane; URL below. The service was door to door, no problems whatsoever. https://asiantigersgroup.com/thailand/
  9. OP: If you are able to live at partners place rent free, then IMO 40K per month is enough for reasonable standard of day to day living. I assuume at your age you have no desire to out to bars and so on on a regular basis. I understand foreigners living in Thailand on a marriage visa do not need medical insurance. At your age I would would recommend you make a Living Will (do not resuscitate) if you have a heart attack / stroke so money left available for wife/daughter. Last, but not least, make sure partner and daughter are comfortable for you to live with them - probably a good idea to visit Thailand for 2/3 months before making final decision.
  10. As said above there is no current cure for tinnitus. I've had tinnitus for about ten years. The only effective relief for me is ear pods with music, listening to TV/radio, concentrating on reading etc. Fortunately I am able to sleep by relaxing, However, if tinnitus is making it difficult to sleep take a mild anti depressant to assist relaxation.
  11. Incorrect, actual residency criteria below: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/residence-rules-for-age-pension?context=22526
  12. Some 'whataboutism' as beloved by Trumpsters. Long overdue for trump organisation to be investigated for enabling money laundering by Russians, leveraging off diplomatic contacts for investment funding e.g. billions from Qatar.
  13. My Indian urology surgeon here in Oz warned me to be cautious in India. Apparently there is a fair amount of fraud e.g. taking money for tests, then not processing them, even though such practises puts a patient's life at risk.

  15. Exactly what is the link between Muslim refugees in France and recent riots in French cities? I have provided a link to a respected organisation discussing the issues; perhaps a good idea to review before responding... https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/07/07/french-riots-banlieues-00105143
  16. Depends on your DOB e.g. https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/who-can-get-age-pension?context=22526
  17. I've never had Age Pension payments stopped at time of departure. Unless one has portability, payment continues for 26 weeks from department. However, after six weeks any supplements paid cease until return. https://www.google.com/search?q=age+pension+payment+whilist+overseas&oq=age+pension+payment+whilist+overseas&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIICAEQABgWGB4yCggCEAAYhgMYigUyCggDEAAYhgMYigUyCggEEAAYhgMYigUyCggFEAAYhgMYigXSAQ44Njk5NDQ4MjhqMGoxNagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  18. Some of the right senior wing trump advisers subscribe to paleo conservatism. Why MSN media do not usually point out the info I do not know. However, if you're interested in some detail... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoconservatism#:~:text=institutionalized cultural expressions".-,Ideology,gender%2C culture%2C and society.
  19. OP: If it is required to have a prostatectomy, don't omit to have a follow up PSA test one month later. If cancer, it is possible the cancer has spread which would likely require ongoing hormone treatment. For further info on prostate cancer go to: https://www.pcf.org/
  20. There maybe a cure for diabetes, but the truth of the matter is affordability / access to treatment could easily be a major factor.. e.g. in the USA diabetes treatment is unaffordable for the less well off. Also of course the amount of sugar in food; simple examples being bread, cereals and yoghurt for breakfast in Western diets and of course rice in Asian diets. From the article... The research also estimated that by 2045, three quarters of adults with diabetes will live in low- and middle-income countries. But even in wealthy countries such as the United States, diabetes rates were almost 1.5 times higher among minorities such as black, Hispanic, Asian or Native Americans, a separate Lancet study said.
  21. 10MG dose per day is the norm for treatment of nerve pain. Much higher doses are available for treatment of depression or other clinical matters. I do not know if Amitriptyline is available from Thai doctors or spinal treatment specialists.
  22. OP: I have suffered from moderate spinal stenosis for a number of years. Specialist declined surgical intervention. Over the years I had been prescribed a number of pain killers which were ineffective. I am now using amitriptyline, 10mg a day, which enables me to walk relatively pain free. The drug is normally used for anti depressant in higher dosage, but was discovered to be helpful for nerve pain. You may like to get your girlfriend to try the treatment for a month to see if it helps. I understand a prescription is required. Note they can make you feel tired, so take before bedtime.
  23. A typo: should read retirement age for pension will be 67 as of 01/07/23
  24. Sure, but a lot of competition for work in the mining sector. If you have friend / family for intros might be viable.
  25. Yes. Remember retirement age for pension will be 67 as of 01/01/23
