  1. Well a full on war between these two I suspect isn't going to be bombing Bangkok and Phnom Penh. It would rather be a 'handbags at dawn' kinda cat fight I think
  2. I didn't/haven't ever once talked in the real world about TVF/Asean or whatever else they morph into So JT just relish the fact you may be a virtual TVF celeb, but I'd knock the 'making money' on the head idea, probably a non starter. Today you gotta a pretty/handsome human to become a TikTok influencer And maybe I'm just getting old but I struggle to even get the 'influencer' thing
  3. Spain is wonderful. I'm from the CA central valley, child of farm workers, so No Shi***t Sherlock I speak Spanish. Of course I don't have their snooty lisp, so I sound like a hick. Portugal; folks seem to think Spanish, Portuguese, Italian speakers we can all understand each other I understand Portuguese like English speakers understand German. I'll get certain words but thats about it Both countries are great, but don't expect cheap. In the English speaking ecosphere both countries are dominated by the Brits, so hope you love fish n chips and bangers and mash Moving to the US, California is all over the map. The coastal cities are insanely expensive. I lived in the Bay Area and San Diego for years and I loved it, today no way. My youngest daughter still lives in San Diego and I don't know how they do it. My wife loves San Diego when we visit, but hates the traffic and the hoards of people But inland and up North its like a different world, the crowds and the traffic are gone, and the prices are back to real world
  4. I think I'll stick with my brainiac and you play with the infantial bar girls, I think I know who wins in the end
  5. So a woman with a brain is 'problematic'?
  6. So another one. I'm called up to the gate on Monday It's a 1pm flight to ORD, doors are closed, numbnuts who's been drinking in the bar arrives too late. I bring the cop with me since I've watched this movie too many times to do it alone I politely tell him the flight is closed, we'll get him rebooked and on his way Not having any of it starts hauling on the jet bridge door which is locked Then idiocy steps in and as the cop approaches him he swings a punch Enjoy your night in jail! I'll say it again folks lose their minds as they enter an airport
  7. In my whole life I've never quite got the tongue in the mouth thing, With my American wife we never did it it was a peck on the cheek, with my Thai wife we'll do that sniff on the cheek thing, that works for me Some open mouth tongue probing , does absolutely nothing for me
  8. Honestly with the exception of BKK, Pattaya and the islands, get dropped into any Thai city you wouldn't know where the heck you were, Issan or wherever they all look the same
  9. Boredom to be honest I'd retired too early at 55, and after a few years I was bored outta my skull, only so many books you can read, TV to watch and I don't play golf! I tried to volunteer to teach English at the local HS, but of course ran into the Thai only thing, wasn't looking to get paid, which I think is the definition of 'work' My wife was already piss$$ed off with her job, a women engineer in Thailand who's smarter than the guys is always a problem So we figured it was time to go Still enjoy our time there, now as tourists couple of times a year
  10. That is one of those classic and iconic movie scenes, hard to beat
  11. Thai's, especially outside BKK tend to be very transactional Young girl brings back the old guy from Pattaya or Phuket, builds her a house, they are thinking good for her, lag it out until he dies and just keep the boyfriends outta sight Sounds harsh but pretty much reality
  12. Not sure where to start on this Never been in bar, but my cousin is in the 'entertainment' biz She seems a pretty decent human, but for everything I'm sure the range of folks in the bars are pretty varied. So the punters probably range from total sumballs to rather nice just lonely guys
  13. I'm kinda with you on that. I was never into sports, which pushed you into the High School 'he must be gay' category I liked hanging out with the girls, no pressure it was just easy. That being said, my best male friend who also hung out with us, was absolutely gay just to reinforce the stereotype. Of course back then we didn't talk about 'gay'
  14. There is some truth to that. I know the first time I was introduced to my besties then boyfriend subsequent husband, there was some 'tension' Obviously over the decades thats long gone
  15. Fascinating article in this weeks Economist. Robert Guest Deputy editor On Valentine’s Day this year, when I was, somewhat depressingly, in Addis Ababa airport rather than enjoying a romantic dinner with my wife, I stumbled on a paper asking whether men and women can be friends. The traditional view is that this is hard because, as Harry said to Sally in the film, “the sex part always gets in the way.” https://view.e.economist.com/?qs=9f9e1fc083d55c54a7a13191d1deaba364ccd5ace9d96c7c391255d3804003ef6c836c98c4306b141eba8cf9b0d25bb6f9e2b2ac939e2ccc48728ade2b3a173cb4cc19627d4b93b882500b370904d775 My best friend in the whole world I've known my whole life. We started the same day in Kindergarten. We tried to kiss once in our mid teens and both recoiled saying "nah that don't work" She's Godmother to both my daughters and I know no matter where I was in the world if I needed help she'd be there for me. So I believe men and women can just be besties. Thoughts.
  16. It's a really personal decision. I was fine in Thailand until I wasn't, boredom kinda set in and I wanted to work. I looked into various European and south American countries, but it just ended up easier just to move back to the US and have Thailand as our vacation destination In the US I don't have to think about visas, immigration, wife is a green card holder, son is a citizen, I'm just too old for hassle
  17. It's not that I couldn't get women in the US, never had a problem with that. Now Asian women, well talk to my wife about that, I think she totally gets my asian persuasion thing But never really had any interest in woman seriously younger than me, that would just be too tiresome. The idea that I would introduce a girlfriend to my my kids of the same age would be awkward and weird. So I'm fine with my menopausal old Thai lady, as crabby as she can be
  18. Maybe I'm a little odd, but I kinda get off on that spark of equals. My wife is actually smarter than me, better education she's got a Master's I'm just a humble BS. Sometimes when we get into it, it somehow often ends in sex. I know it sounds like the scenario for a porn movie, but hey it seems to work for us
  19. I'm so sure you can have meaningful conversations. Great to introduce the kids too, welcome to step mom!
  20. Mine was back in the late 80's in Catania Italy. Me and a co-worker had eaten at a seafood restaurant, La Luna if I remember correctly. We were flying to London then to SFO the next day. I was dreadfully ill on the flight from Catania to London. So ill I couldn't make the flight connection to San Francisco Spent a day puking my guts up whatever I had left in there in a hotel room Fun Times
  21. Well I met my Thai wife in Singapore, sordid office romance But pretty sure I would have ended up with some version of Asian if I'd stayed in California. Walk down any street in San Francisco and probably 50% of the couples you see are white male and asian female. For whatever reason evolution seems to have us attracted to certain types
  22. Contact AisianTigers I've done it the reverse direction but they deal with shippers in the US and can probably take care of you https://asiantigersgroup.com/
  23. So I'll tell you the law, at least in the US. If cause a disturbance or assault someone in the airport before you get on a plane, you'll end up booked into the local jail and charged with assault, public disorder or whatever. Now if you are in the aircraft and in the air and create a disturbance, then it's Federal crime, and your world of hurt just gets a whole lot worse!
  24. Yeah it doesn't happen overnight. I was 55 when it raised it's ugly head for me. One of the downsides of living in Thailand is the ability to buy practically any medication you want without a prescription. I'd self 'diagnosed' eczema on my cheek and was buying stronger and stronger cortisone creams until one day after the creams were just making the lesion on my face more angry when I was in BKK I went to see an actual doctor in Brumrungrad who did a biopsy bingo, cancer. Skin cancer creeps up on you over decades, not overnight
