27 Omicron XBB.1.16 cases detected in Thailand by April 17th
moogradod replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
OK, what booster to take now. We have so far: Wife: Sinovac - Astra - Moderna - Moderna Myself: Astra - Astra - Moderna - Moderna Isn't there a more advanced stuff from Pfizer ? I have completely lost the overview, but a 5. vaccination might be recommended anyway ? Or not ? -
Thank you for I am quite desperate. Arlo was a marvel. I will have a look at YouTube. The important thing is also that any system is somehow available here.
-
I had an ARLO System with two indoor cameras (battery operated for a LONG time) that worked perfectly. Motion/Sound detection with direct alarm to selected mobile phones, storage of the recorded videos in the cloud, Siren Alarm. Now it seems that those are not supported anymore. I even wanted to buy a second system with 4 more cameras and my usual IT provider did tell me they dont have it at the distributor (and they do not support them anyway anymore) - they have changed to a paid plan to get the important functions and for some reason I do not know, Thailand is now as well excluded for delivery and service. It was the perfect system but I guess it does not help if I order them for example in Europe and then they might not work here. Now I need a replacement and I am so far deeply depressed from what I see on the net. Has anybody out there a Security System which would alarm using motion detection with at least 6 cameras (the best powered by a battery). Arlo could even distinguish between a pet and people. Or any other Security System worth buying. No cheap Chinese Stuff please. I need quality and I am willing to pay for it and import it if necessary as well. We have bought a new house outside a gated community with the next neighbors a bit far away at the moment (one similar house is being constructed right now near to ours, so we will have neighbors in the future) and it does need to be protected at least a bit. The walls are high around the house but not high enough and no barbed wire, glass etc. inserted. The idea of my wife to buy a dog is not what I do support. Any recomendation is highly appreciated from anybody operating said security system or similar.

I think that would severely affect the number of posters - and even worse: it could affect what is posted. Think Tripadvisor. I used to be one of the Top contributors there but decided to stop contributing because of the legislation (defamation). What sense does a review site makes when you might not tell the truth ? With AN it is a bit the same. In any case the administrators know who you are (at registration), but why would you share that with the public? I regard it generally as problematic to give personal information away in even the slightest way and avoid it where I can. This is not about the argument: "I have nothing to hide" - its a general principle. Few are aware of the implications of Big Data and if you are not it does not make sense trying to explain it I learned.

Is it safe to order something on Aliexpress - experiences ?
moogradod replied to moogradod's topic in General Topics
Good question. I will see once I have ordered the item. It is big and heavy although the price is no more than 4KTHB. Shipping and import fees might be a multiple of that, but I dont care for it is exactly what I want. I would even opt for a faster delievery method if it would be more expensive. -
Is it safe to order something on Aliexpress - experiences ?

I use mobile devices for telephone calls and occasionally SMS (mostly receiving). And that's it. Maybe sometime converting unit measures etc. But as an ex- IT-professional, I have a sophisticated desktop infrastructure and network. My desktop is loaded with a number of security browser add-ons to prevent tracking, executing scripts or deny access. I can as well see what a website is aiming to perform in this regard. Sometimes I am reluctant to switch off some of these tools when it is just too much which does not add to my confidence. As is the case when I try to open a shopee account. Maybe this is why it does not work, even if I am generous to overlook some of their attempts. It would probably work with a mobile device for there is as well less risk involved (at least with MY mobile devices - a medium aged Android phone and a first generation iPAD) which have no further access to anything and do not contain any sensible data. -

Thank you very much. That sounds awesome ! We have used Lazada as well in the past without troubles. As far as shopee is concerned I cannot even open an account. Looks like better forget. -
My wife wants to open an account and order something with Aliexpress. I suspect that in the process you have to give them your credit card number and probably other personal information. If the credit card information needs to be stored then I regard this as a risk, but they could do it anyway for you have to pay somehow. The item she wants (actually needs) to buy costs not more than 4'000 THB - if no delivery just bad luck and forget. This is of no concern. The item is quite big but shipping costs we just have to bear. Are there other considerations ? Maybe based on your own experience ? Thanks for sharing.

This is good advice - especially the last four points. Just be prepared that whatever prevention you take, ailments / accidents etc. will get you anyway. This is for everyone the same and regardless of age - starting when you are not even fully born yet up to 90+. There is no guarantee for anything exept that you will die some day. And this can happen any time. WIthin the next 5 minutes if need be. A friend of my wife just died when he was 19 without having some known ailments, same a friend of mine with 28. To be aware of that is important and this makes the last four points in novocova's advice as well so precious.

Just the capability of being able to do that does not mean I will set it to 21 degrees. But it should be sized big enough that it could deliver our required 23 degrees for sure even under sunny conditions. That is why. 21 degrees is by no means unreasonable, our current aircons can do that in a jiffy. And I have been in hotel rooms where you could achieve arctic temperatures if you would desire that.

No idea about the size. I guess I will have to ask the builder after Songkran. There is a sticker in front, but the wall units are high near the ceiling and the sticker is unreadable. I did get a manual but this is more for the remotes and does not say much about the unit itself. I am hoping to get down to 21 degrees Celsius although we might adjust the units just for 23 or 24 degrees.

We just bought a new house. The sales contract says that the builder will give a guarantee of 2 years for everything not working. Now we have the situation that we could not try out the aircons to their full extent before and those are now found to be too weak, they do not cool the rooms enough even when switched to 18 degrees Celsius, but they work. The builder used the brand "Saijo Denki", some units wall mounted and one in the ceiling of the living room. I am asking for your opinion: Would you approach the seller and demand a free exchange of all units ? Or is this an effect that may occur when the aircons are just new and need some "burn in" ? It cannot stay like this in the hot weather - if he does not exchange them for free we have to buy new units (I am thinking of Daikin or LG) and pay them ourself. I can use a BTU calculator which I have downloaded to my phone and then add some extra power. The calculator takes sun exposure, isolation etc. in account apart from the room volume.

If I may comment because you just show it on the left picture: The brand "Hainich" is the very best for gherkins, but you should go for the "sweet and sour" variety, not the "cornichons". Unfortunately, they do not stock very often in Central Festival Pattaya. Their "Sour Cherries" are as well very good. A glass of (I think I remember) 600gr. for THB 250.-- at TOPS.

Line and Facebook do rather attract a younger clientele. I would never use it. I think you will loose quite some business by not having a professional website. Granted, it seems to have a real good web design might pose a problem in Thailand for even large companies have terrible web designs - but I am sure this would help to boost the reputation, attractiveness and professionality of your service. But it must be visually attractive and not overloaded with dozens of fonts and colors, easy to use and for payment two factor authorization required etc..... I wish you much sucess. May your cabins be available if you finally got your website working.

Howdy, stranger Are you cooking as well with WOKS on your planet ? Or do you just have a speech impediment ?
-
Seems to be the case. However, this Porsche driver is quite a cheap charlie. I remember the former boss of my father. He did own a big jet and had never made holidays because while flying around he was working as well. But he wore shoes with holes in the upper leather because he was too penurious to buy new ones.

Thank you very much. I am learning. Interesting, I did not know that, so my Iwatani portable stove uses pure buthane in the cans you mention and that we use and the rest is LPG. I hope my expensive Garden Grill will work with that. I'll check it. Thanks again.

Kitchenwaremarket looks very promising. Thank you. But it looks like it is an online shop only. I will have my wife have a look at their text on the website when she comes back from making her nails (which takes ages). Maybe Kitchenwaremarket has a sales outlet, too. A burner like in the picture would be exactly it, but 2 burners would be enough. Your 36 cm carbon steel wok is quite a monster but I guess that is a must to gain the benefits of wok cooking. This wok from Lazada looks very good, but unfortunately again an online shop. Then they must as well be able to supply the gas. I have as well a gas grill which I brought with me from Switzerland (we imported a container). Need as well gas for this one (there are different types, this may be a sensitive matter) I guess you do not operate your wok inside the house. So the bottle of gas must be standing as well outside - in the glaring sun. I have no experience at all, but is there never a danger that the thing explodes when it heats up ?

I will deploy a professional Wok Station in my garden. I want a professional setup although only intended for private use. Does anybody know where to get a gas burner and Wok in Pattaya - and what is as well important - professional advice (Wok material, Size, Shape, Gas Type (I guess Buthan) etc.) I believe its the best to buy the burner and the wok together that they will fit. I would like the setup to be as versatile as possible with possibility of real high heat (I think of up to 200'000 BTU), the real thing - not a kitchen lower spec). It must be a sturdy construction - if possible on 4 legs. Thanks for any help.

I thank you for the suggestion. I am currently searching but there is much to do so I cannot dedicate everything to just the search for the table.......but amazing how much the offers for the chairs differ (First about 7K, then 5K and in your advertisement 1 KTHB ! (Un)fortunately I do not have Facebook but I can delegate this to my stepdaughter.

If you know a master carpenter with access to the right materials - please tell me. I am afraid my "local teak furniture guy" wont do in this case. But I will try and ask around. Maybe it is a prejudice from my part.
-
I wont tell the owner I would pay the double price that he paid of course. I am not sure if I would anyway. I have gotten some inspiration from some of the posts here and I will try to get it first by myself.
-
Theoretically yes, but ....... Have you ever come across a master carpenter here in Thailand ? It requires precision (REAL precision) to make the table, then the material should be real tropical hardwood (difficult to get - it is already a nightmare to find lower grade real wood that does not bend after some months) and the different parts should be attached using carpenter junctions, not just glue. Maybe you have a peek in YouTube how this is looking like in case you might not know. Japanese have their own ways of fitting wood together for example. It is an art. I am sorry but I cannot imagine to find someone with this capability very easily - if ever - here. Needs many years of experience.
