Does the AN Management not think that it would be slowly time to think about alternative hosting ? As far as I know AN is hosted in Hongkong. There are very reliable suppliers in Europe, for example in Switzerland and in todays world distance does not matter. Or is this a political thing ?

Nobody does anymore respond to my request - and I am slowy getting nuts. I need a new Surveillance Camera System since ARLO (the best there is on the market) does not support cloud storage from Thailand, regardless of any offers that several suppliers in Thailand claim. My minimum requirements are: At least 5 cameras supported, including inhouse and one for outside, connecting via WiFi to a base station Cameras battery operated (rechargeable with big capacity) Motion Detection SMS Alarm to several mobile phones in case of any event Cloud storage of video clips of any events, not only recording on memory card or recorder A Bonus is when the cameras are SMALL and flexible to install (standalone in a cabinet, wall mounted etc.) Arlo would satisfy all of these and more, but as I said - not for Thailand. Here are home owners in abundance. Many of you might have Security cameras. Please share your wisdom concerning camera surveillance with me. I would be pleased to receive only answers that satisfy all requirements I have listed above, everything else is a waste of time. Thank you very much.

I lost my very best friend at the time when he was 28. He just fell over while at dinner. He was supposed to be healthy. Same thing for my wife: A friend of her died withour forwarning when he was 19. Just collapsed. You never know when it is happening. Might be within the next minute. -
Hey, I just remember. Was this not in Soi Diamond ?
-
I dont know this one. Was that in Pattaya ? We did frequent mostly the Saxophone (Monument), Brown Sugar (Lumpini) and the Bamboo Bar (Mandarin Oriental) in Bangkok. All air conditioned with band. I remember especially the live performances of Tewan Sapsanyakorn in Brown Sugar. And the Bamboo Bar used to be good at the time when the black Lady singer was still around. But this is all many many years ago. I remember as well the "Q" club at the end of Suk Soi 11. No idea if they still exist today. "However, there is a "Q" club in HCMC with the same logo just opposite a fine dining restaurant. All (good) memories.

Not attached, but "integrated". That is why those are called Big C "Extra". Here in Pattaya there is both a Big C and a Big C Extra (Pattaya Klang) which has quite some selection of foreign food.

Airconditioning plus Live Music exclude each other a bit. Airconditioning makes only sense in a room. And this is not where you might find a band. At least not in Pattaya. There are some Jazz Clubs in Bangkok where you can find that.

I am not so sure if you know of any problems you might possibly have. Ever run a deep Anti-Virus scan ? Maybe this could result in a big surprize ????

27 Omicron XBB.1.16 cases detected in Thailand by April 17th
moogradod replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It is as well available at BHP, but only by order of your doctor. I had an appointment 4 days ago for something else and by chance asked the doctor about a booster. To my biggest surprize they immediately took that up and 30 minutes later I was vacinated with Pfizer Bivalent Cornamity. It was my 5th vaccination after Astra-Astra-Moderna-Moderna. However they did not give me a certificate and I was as well not able to access Mor Prom. I am 67 years old with severe predispositions. They did not give it to my wife (42, Thai, very light predispositions) but said if she sees her doctor the next time she could ask for it.). I do not recall if we paid for it or not because the bill was just one amount and my wife takes care of the financial side anyway. And I give a s**** about such low cost positions. But it is available right now at BHP in Pattaya. -
Considering installing Solar.
moogradod replied to PR3's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Thank you very much. Yes this seems to be a German company. (Un)fortunately I do not have Facebook and never will. I dont use Twitter or Line or anything else Social Media like (exept AN ????) as well. Causes stomach pain if I only hear the names. But I can maybe find out about it using the other links or really email the boss directly. Same with Captain DIY. Although DIY is out of the question. I want a professional make it properly. -
Considering installing Solar.
moogradod replied to PR3's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Thanks for the tip. Will have an eye on that. Apart from Economics at Zurich University I have as well studied Electronic Engineering at the ETH Zurich. The grasping is not really the problem if I study the subject a bit (which I am lazy to do). I see the problem in any friends pretending they would know how to choose the highest quality items needed (I no need no Chinese crap) and the precision and security ☠️ of the actual installation. They need experience from multiple installations. I do not have any friends that fulfill this requirement. I am 67 and crawling up to the houses roof is no more anyway ????. It may cost a bit and even if its a ROI withing 10 years or even more this would be fine. If the components are not that durable itself, then this is the wrong stuff anyway. -
I wonder if the VM would be compatible to run on my system. Here the overview. I use quite a powerful CPU AMD 2950X Ryzen. But I would hate having to restore (I have backups of course) the machine when it would not work. And installing my landscape of different applications (I use it for video editing and as a Audio Workstation for recording. Apart from my various backup programs, Bitdefender Security, encryption (the program I am using is a must). But really thanks for the suggestion in any case !!

Considering installing Solar.
moogradod replied to PR3's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
We would like to invest as well in Solar Energy for our house but I do not have the slightest knowledge about the subject. So I am aiming at a real one-stop solution where I need to tell the supplier only: "We want a solar system which reduces electricity cost the most". And this is all information he is getting. After that I expect him to come up with an offer for cost overall and the expected pay-back period (resp. the energy cost we would save) I suspect he will start first to investigate which devices we operate take how much energy and then go from there incl. solutions to feed energy back to the grid. This implies that the supplier I will choose must be really reliable and experienced with proven track records and recommendations, still reasonably priced if possible. My approach needs a lot of trust not to fall flat on my face. I am aware of that and I am as well aware where we are. So I am asking: Does anybody know a supplier that meets the criteria fully in the vicinity of Chonburi / Pattaya ? -
After I did enable TPM 2.0 in the BIOS one of my desktops is now Windows 11 compatible. But why should I upgrade ? The only reason I see are the security updates from October 2025 on. Until that time I will run WIN 10 anyway. AI functions ? I would avoid these like the pest. It is very much more important that all current applications will still run after the change of OS for I am not running a PC for hardware and firmware's sake. What do you suggest would be the easiest way to check that (only over the supplier ?). Thanks and I wish you a virus free time.

The very worst for any color blind people is the Ishihara Test where you must detect Numbers and letters and symbols hidden in a circle consisting of many different shades of colors. I can hardly see a very little bit whereas for my wive this is like an open book and she recognizes the hidden structures within seconds. Fortunately they have skipped this test at least at the DLTs I know. The easiest is the big circle with different sizes of green, yellow and red dots in it, then comes the Red Light that was described before and it might be that the peripheral color test is as well difficult. My wife had to do that one and although she could do an Ishihara in a jifffy, she had slight difficulties with the peripheral one.

Rubbish. And I think you know it. Just making a point, or is this supposed to be a compassionate advice ? Besides you are researching past posts of me. My house seems to be attracting a lot of interest. For me this discussion is closed now.

Thank you. Maybe you are right and I will try the idea with the sonic device.

I wrote in my OP: "But killing them is illegal and I would as well not want to do that." Clear enough ?

Not really friends, but I know one Vietnamese. I have no Korean friends. And I do not know if these would be picky choosing their food. You and me investigate as well a fish or a steak before eating. I think the idea with the local Amphur office is the best so far.

Who is talking about 2 ? There are at least 5. Just now. But they multiply. A burglar alarm while we are at home is not needed. And who cares if they would (they even would not I suspect) bark if someone tries to enter our home while we are away ? If they would belong to someone in the soi, why would they not stay there. Not one is wearing any identification either. Som nam na.

I am sure this has been adressed at some time, but the search term "soi dogs" yields 777 pages, some with completely different topics. So please bear with me. Here is my problem: In front of our house there are a couple of soi dogs that seem to have made this place their home. I find this disturbing and it might even be dangerous at times. Is there any organization that I could call for removal ? Or the local Puyai Baan ? Probably they wont care. But killing them is illegal and I would as well not want to do that. I remember that I have read here on AN (formerly Thaivisa, I think it was some time ago) that someone uses a stick which produces electroshocks. Exactly for the same purpose. Maybe that would teach them that they are not welcome where they are now. Or is there another solution ? Getting used to it (I suspect this would be the standard answer from AN members) is no option for me.

I really do not like thai jasmine rice that much
moogradod replied to parafareno's topic in Thai Food
I do not like Jasmine Rice and even less Basmati. The very worst is paraboiled rice. This is for the brands I have tried. But I have a Thai Wife who eats nothing like Jasmine Rice and restaurants serve anyway nothing else. At home, I eat Japanese Rice which is FAR superiour in taste for me. There is an American Brand "Kokuho Rose Rice" which is medium grain that is absolutely phantastic, too. But this one (see picture) is not available in Thailand as far as I know, so I need to stick to imported real Japanese short grain, which is extremely tasty, but as well extremely expensive. -
Thank you, but dont worry, I will not succumb to marketing phrases. What counts is room volume, insulation, wall construction and BTU and SEER of the aircons. Of course insulation = none and wall construction is single layer bricks ???? We have only curtains so far. I am a bit reluctant about installing window film, I read that does not help too much because it is like you say: we, too, have two giant windows in the living room. Daikin seems to have units with a SEER over 20. First I have to find out what the current aircons have. I would like to be able to pass 23 degrees. And I do not very much care about the purchase price.
