  1. I think you must have read the opening posts only, I updated this thread yesterday. The Vivo is a lower spec than the Xiaomi I am replacing but thanks for the input.
  2. Sqwakvfr, I did ask about 5G as I don't understand it and would it be advantagous, I've come to the conclusion not for a couple of years in Thailand so I will forsake 5G this time for other features for the price.
  3. I have done that already myself and posted my findings. The only place I see the Note come out on top is the rear camera which at 108 MP would probably beat most phones. It has slightly inferior chipset and battery.
  4. Update so far: The Oneplus phones are more than I want to pay so I'm pretty much between the Poco X3 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro. I would go as high spec as I can so I would probably go for the 8gb version over the 6gb version. According to GSM the Poco comes in 8 + 128 or 8 + 256, the 8/128 would be enough for me but I don't see any on Lazada. The camera on the Note 10 does look awesome although I probably wouldn't play with the features, I just want to point and shoot. Other differences Poco Snapdragon 860, Note 732, Adreno (I've no idea what it is ) Poco 640, Note 618, battery Poco 5160, note 5020, selfie cam Poco 20mp, Note 16mp. I'm not sure of the implications of those differences, if it's camera alone then the Note wins hands down. Cost on Lazada Poco 8/256 approx 8000, Note 8/128 approx 8500 Lazada are pushing discounts on 10/10 but not sure if a gimmick or genuine discounts but I will aim to buy that day. Any more thoughts?
  5. I think some people are getting confused with the budget, I reopened the topic yesterday. My budget is up to 10k but preferably no more than 8k which is the price of the Poco. I will review all suggestions later. I don't want Samsung, I had before my 2 Xiaomi's.
  6. I wasn't quoting the specs of the Poco, just my limited knowledge of what differences to look for, and yes, I should have said Android version not windows !!! That shows my overall knowledge ! Thanks for the tip about the camera, I will look at some camera specs more closely. The 11 lite you compared with is nearly 3 times more than I want to pay, any better suggestions than the Poco?
  7. Looking to replace my Xiaomi redmi 6 which I bought exactly 3 years ago for just under 6k. It's getting slow and the camera which wasn't brilliant when new is now very poor. Happy to stick with Xiaomi and a while ago my friend bought the Poco X3 NFC which he thought was the best value at that price at that time. I'm considering the Poco X3 Pro which is just under 8k for the 8gb version, I want at least 6gb, my old one was 4gb. Now this was released in March and Xiaomi have released over 25 phones since then, many out of my price range of what I want to pay, are any of them better value than the X3Pro? I've looked at some of the specs and I know for example Snapdragon 850 is better than 625 but some have a different type, Mediatek, so I don't know how to compare them. Also some have windows 10, some 11. Do I need 5G? I expect the lifespan of this phone to be around 3 years before I replace it.6 So 6/8 gb, maximum 10k Baht but preferably no more than 8k. All comments and suggestions welcome, even sarky ones !
  8. Can you please share how to do this? By PM if you prefer.
  9. Thanks MT and UJ, I have passed your info on. I was under the impression they had paid for a UK return ticket but he mentioned the option of buying a ticket to Vietnam for around 100 GBP. I can see why they are miffed as if they have to buy another one that is around an extra 200 quid wasted. A tourist visa of 60 days is mentioned above, how come their visas were only 45 days now reduced to 30? If they had a 60 day visa they wouldn't need to buy extra flights.
  10. So has anyone you know successfully used 'Onward Ticket'? I just tried an example BKK to Phonm Penh in November and it came up 12 Euros (not dollars) which is about 500 Baht. I think they have both already paid for a return to London which they had no intention of using and are a bit peeved if they think they have to buy another within the period of their visa which they won't use. However, 12 Euros or whatever will be music to their ears ! Thanks. Edit, not sure about any full or partial refunds on their return ticket, their outward journey is with Singapore Airlines.
  11. I have two British friends, both in their 80's, who stay in Thailand for 6-8 months a year usually. They have booked into Phuket Sandbox flying UK/Singapore/Phuket landing on 16th October for 14 days quarantine. One has messaged me to say they expected a 45 day visa and had to show return flights before their 45 days expired so they bought a return which they won't use on the 42nd day. Now the Thai authorities has changed the 45 days to 30 days from 1st October so their return flights will now be after their visa expired so they are upset that now they have to buy another flight out of Thailand. After they leave Phuket they would change their visa to a retirement visa with an agent (at least the one staying 8+ months will, not sure about the other one) 2 questions for those with the knowledge, Do they really need to show a return flight within 30 days? If they do need a flight (which they won't use) can they just buy the cheapest ticket out of Thailand to say Cambodia for around 5,000 Baht? All replies appreciated, I'm only the middleman here and due to the time difference and the fact he's 82, replies from him if I need further details can be sporadic!
  12. The only things I have bought from Ali express was an android TV box about 2/3 years ago and a part for my car mirror earlier this year. Why?

  16. Thanks for advice. I knew with that username you would have the knowledge. The guy who will do the job will mainly use one of those small rollers.
  17. If I want to change the colour slightly do I still need undercoat? I was hoping for a quick one coat solution. I understand what you say about the RTB polyurethane and the current paint is good but after 3-4 years if I go to the effort of re painting I would like to change the colour slightly. Currently a light grey and I'm thinking of looking at a light green. Plus just checked online and my home pro in Hua Hin is out of stock of the RTB polyurethane. I think the main problem is the current type of paint used was wrong for wood cabinets, it's Beger Shield super gloss enamel and difficult to clean.
  18. I want to repaint my wooden kitchen units. I've looked at gloss paint online at homepro but there is so many varieties, can anyone steer me in the right direction? The main reason I want to repaint them is they are difficult to wipe clean. There is water based interior paint, semi gloss, airfresh gold, clean & care semi gloss and a host of others and I haven't a clue what I need. Any advice appreciated.
  19. I need to send a parcel of 10 football shirts to England. Any idea of approximate cost, best provider ( is it only Thai post?) and any customs issues? TIA59
  20. Recently renewed my UK passport, got immigration to transfer visa info and notified my bank. What about other agencies like transport for car and bike registration docs and driving licences, anyone notify those?
