  1. I will buy the paint myself to ensure I have the best product hence my interest in the OP question rather than leave it -to Somchai to turn up with cheap sh*t. I got the number of a Thai who was painting a house and exterior wall nearby as I walked the dogs, looked a decent job, using 2 colours on the surrounding wall, one colour for the pillars and lighter colour inside which is common here and looked neat. I will ask him for a quote.
  2. I own the building, have done for about 10 years. Thanks for reply.
  3. I was going to ask the same question as the OP but a quick search brought up this thread. I'm no painter so would ask Thai painter to do it. Before reading this thread I presumed he would just paint over the existing paint after scraping away any flaky bits (not many) and filling any cracks. But this thread talks about primer and 2/3 coats etc, is this necessary ? I need to know so I can ask the painter what he intends to do. The current paint is reasonably good, but it is a type of magnolia so I was going to change to white. It hasn't been re-painted since new, about 12-14 years ago.
  4. Yes and yes. They took photos of the roof space, said all looks good, no leaks, all dry etc. And measured the area. One guy who quoted 8k has said it will take his team one day, not sure how many men that includes.
  5. Has anyone had this done and if so at what cost? I thought it would be a one day job, around 100 sqm, but I'm getting quotes of 8,500, 11,000 and 15,000 Baht for labour only. One guy, who is a one man band who said he can do it hasn't quoted me yet but he's on another job building something with large heavy steel beams and he's posted on FB he needs help and offering 600 Baht per day! I'm waiting for his quote.............
  6. Was these istalled during the build or after ? Can they be installed on any roof style?
  7. I would agree with you, I'm happy to pay extra for the 6'' over the 3'', I won't be doing the walls, only the ceiling. I've just had a quote from another guy who didn't visit the villa but he' quoting 85 Baht per sqm, he didn't ask if 3'' or 6''. A lot more expensive than I thought for labour, I presumed just roll the stuff out and job done in a few hours........90-100 SQM
  8. No I don't, I would love to install vents/whirly bird thing but not sure if it's possible/feasible.
  9. Not helping the OP but this thread seems to have the know how I need. I'm going to have my roof space insulated, one storey villa with tiled roof but no insulation in the roof space, villa about 10-12 years old. Looking at the SCG or Sunshield Extra Cool from Homepro, one is R-38 one is R-37 and a bit cheaper, does it make a difference ? One is 3'' and one 6'' thick, I prefer to go with 6'' The main Q is I'm not doing it myself so getting some Thai chaps in to give me a quote. The guy who came today said 6'' is more difficult to lay, takes longer so labour will be more. He says most people use 6'' in the walls, only use 3'' in the ceiling. Any thoughts please?
  10. It's not any old white paint, it's actually called Sunblock, available in Home pro and quite effective for a few years.
  11. Does it have Catchup?
  12. I had to change a tap in a very tight space on my kitchen sink and had to remove part of the waste pipes. Where the waste pipe was pushed into the outlet pipe to take the water away it had some sort of brown rubbery sealant around it. I had to remove this to complete the task and now reassembled it leaks from this 'joint'. What can I use to reseal this 'joint' please. (obviously its not a joint with a thread, just one pipe pushed into another.
  13. Wow, that would be great, thanks. Yes, small Thai community, no English spoken.
  14. That would be great, thanks. I've seen the front loaders for sale with the coin machine but at a high price. It isn't for me, I don't live in Surin but my friends village/community. She has just built a modern house on her familys land (all the community have old teak houses)and installed a washing machine outside. Her mother wants to install the coin machine to let the community use it so she can make a few bob !! She's very savvy when it comes to making money, done enough to put two daughters through Uni in BKK through her farming.
  15. yes, I did look on Lazada but they all seem to be for top loaders.
  16. I want to convert a new LG front load washing machine to be coin operated in Surin. Anyone have any contacts to do this?

  18. Sounds nice but we don't want to venture into Patts if we can avoid it. Probably no further than Marcos mentioned above.*
  19. Me and Thai lady school teacher friend are staying in Jomtien for 4 days near Soi Welcome so looking for a few suggestions of average priced restaurants for lunch and dinner, Thai and farang food. Maybe one slighly upmarket restaurant for dinner one night. I know of Cheap Charlies where I would go for brekkie if I'm on my own but a bit nicer ambience for us to dine together, she's not really a bar person and doesn't normally drink alcohol. Thanks for any suggestions.
  20. Is there more than one Richmond Bar, isn't it in Soi Welcome ? I would ask in Soi Welcome bars and Soi Wat Boon bars.
  21. As above, say registered letter to the UK. I sent one to Conister Bank a few weeks ago. I usually use the PO in the basement of Bluport near the motorcycle park, not usually any queues.
  22. How much per month please and do they have catchup, essential for UK TV
  23. Not ranting, you posted about how reliable they are, I replied to your post.
  24. Reliable sources my a*se, it's still going strong 4 years after that post. Cops knocking at your door for using an android box ?? Wow paranoid or what. Buy a box from Lazada, hundreds to choose from.
  25. Try hdprime. 380 Baht per month for many, mainly UK TV channels, all the sport, I use it for football. 3 days catch-up TV, 99 % reliable which is what I need for EPL. Good support when needed, email them for a free trial. Only pay monthly so the most you can lose is 380 Baht if not satisfied. I've been using them for years.
