  1. It is coming and isn't anything to look forward to for sure. sad.png

The smog may be a few months away, but the straw burning is well under way bah.gif

And anyone who burns their garden waste is equally due a single digit salute from me angry.png

I agree but if I was to do that to my neighbour I'd have finger cramp within a week!

Make a large cardboard cut out thumbsup.gif

  2. Who needs to use a credit card, who was the idiot who masterminded this concept of scamming people with high interest rates? Just get a debit and spend what you have!

If you have been following the thread there has only been the one business owner reply to the debit card and he says the banks charge him just as much as the credit card companies.

I would like to here from another businessman what his charges are. I pay a bill of over 10,000 baht a month with my Siam debit card with no penalty if I try to pay with a credit card he asks for 3% on top of it.

My son's school wanted to charge me 3% to pay his school fees by k-bank debit card. They got the cash over a week later.

  4. Eh by gum there was a time.

When I were a lad I was happier then and I had nothing and used to dream of sitting eating python.

You were lucky. I were ate by th' python.....

    But I didn't grumble.....

  5. Paid a visit earlier this week to CM dealer. When we bought the truck they told us to bring it in for a 3000km checkup (not service). So we did, tho' had better things to do with my time. Got that blank confused look from the people there. No knowledge of this checkup. Mentioned the rust. "Not rust, just colour. Can be cleaned off" <deleted>.

Some of bolts/nuts have been covered with something red in color...maybe it's a rust proofing thing...but there is a real rust on some others, that might been overseen/mist...

The main issue is with injectors under the top cover...did they look there for you?

They just weren't interested. Had to bite my lip.....

  7. Avoid weekends & holidays if you can. Gets busy up there on the narrow road over Doi Pui as far as the coffee shop attached to the ornamental gardens. Carry on past that coffee shop to the village of Ban Khun Chang Khian. A few coffee shacks there & the village has a more authentic atmosphere than the shopping plaza that Ban Doi Pui has become.

  8. Thanx MESmith I will take a look.

I was looking at that quote also

I tried to post the fo;;owing but to many quotes.

That sounds rite on. I know in rough terrain you might have to have a meter and a half to reach to solid ground along side of where you are walking. With a staff you can slide your hand up an down it. Use it not necessary for support but as a balance in rough terrain.

When you say adjustable walking sticks are you talking about sticks that would be with out a handle or adjustable canes they would have a handle.

They have a handle, with built in flash light, useful if you're late getting off the mountain wink.png

  9. How long did it take for every one to reach the top.

I am 70 and trying to get down to 110 Kilos. Walk a fair amount of time and have been known to get into just put one foot in front of the other foot mode when pain gets bad. I guess I am asking how long of a ordeal would it be if that is what it turns in to for myself if I were to try it. Defiantly would not want to go with a group as Iwould just take the joy out of it for them.

Partially disabled going up hill is a lot easier fr me than down hill. So would defiantly be getting a ride back.

You can join us, if it is to hard, after about 2 km (this is the easiest part) there is wat Talad, from here you can go down by taking another trail (or walk to the road and and pick a songtaew). For the first time this could be a nice alternative when you are not in a reasonable shape.

Thanks for the reply it is certainly some thing to ponder. How much farther on the hard part?

Wonder where a person could get a decent walking stick. Those Burmese walking sticks are more for looks. A proper cane is strong enough to support you if you take a sudden misstep and a proper walking stick is long enough and stout enough so you can adjust your grip on it to match the terrain.

Well I have to guess but it's around 3 - 3.5 km in my experience, it's quite steep uphill. Therefor I like to use a walking stick when I enjoy to go downhill.

For the lower part it's not necessary. Thailand doesn't have a walking culture, I am affraid there is no place they sell adjustable sticks here.

Try Amorn at Icon Plaza, they usually have the telescopic metal "alpine" sticks. Loads for sale up at Mae Sai. Personally, I carry a length of stout bamboo, cut to length. Useful for scaring off aggressive dogs, too mad.gif

  10. only been as far as the village down past the top of Doi Pui, Ban Khun Chang Khian recently. Nice to stop for coffee as you enter the village. This is past the turnoff that continues down to HTT. That road is supposed to be ok, but have not driven it for about 10 years. Please report back after you've driven it.

  11. Not sure how old that text is, but looking at the current state of construction they will have done very well if the major structural construction is done by March 2013. Then all the inside stuff and systems and shops have to be built, that'll take a couple months more. Rough guess.

Maybe they'll just be renting out market stall space inside the shell of the building, a bit like the superstores, Big C et al rent out their car park space at the moment. btw, WTK any chance of you resizing your photo so i don't have to pan right with my mouse? You've been guilt of this before. Upload your pic as a thumbnail like everyone else post-4641-1156693976.gif

If I upload a picture then I resize it to something sensible. This however is a direct web link. BTW if you use a real browser it'll resize it just fine for you. tongue.png

Then don't upload a photo as a link. I use my browser of choice. I'm not the only one complaining about this, & it's not the first time. Happens again, I'll use my own way of filtering out the photo & WTK wink.png
