Back to original topic - am I the only one who wonders what they did with all the stuff from last year? Or the year before, or the one before? Those are the 3 cold seasons I've been in CM for, and every one of those seasons it's the same story (possibly with different amounts).
Just sayin'
It was probably low quality. Like most things that are cheap here.

Hey DaamNaam
Did they come yesterday and give you a quote ?? whats the cost
cheers
Not yet mate. Meant to be today sometime. I hope.
Will let you know though.
Did they come? The world is waiting......
They did, when i wasn't there (at the advice of another TV poster)...
600 baht a Sqm.
So my 200 Sqm = 120,000
A touch cheaper than i expected.
Australia = 110 AUD per Sqm
UK = 50-65 GBP
So will be going ahead with it, later.
Is that building from nothing, ie bare soil?

Tried Findig but no go...
What they did have are more like fashion work boots
Thin leather or leather like?
Anyway will keep searching
Global House & the likes sell work boots. Might be cr@p, never examined them closely. Tend to be black, not buff as in your picture. Leather or plastic, don't know. Worth a look?
Don't shoot the messenger if they're no good

Been here for nearly 10 years mate and remember this totally stupid pointless law being introduced. I have got a great life thank you but not helped by annoying inconveniences like this that are soooo very unnecessary. Some folk have not got the spare money to buy two cases of beer, I certainly only tend to buy a dozen cans for the week as I am not a big drinker..
So lets get this right Ray.
You have been here nearly ten years.
You refuse to go shopping before 2pm or after 5pm when you can buy any quantity of booze you want.
You refuse to purchase 10 litres at a time, which would allow you to buy between 2 and 5 pm.
So you want Thailand to change its law to accommodate your preferred shopping habits.
IMO you deserve to be annoyed and inconvenienced.
Just you keep buying your weekly dozen cans Ray that will show them
Jeez mate you are missing the WHOLE POINT. If this law actually achieved some real purpose then fine the inconvenience would be acceptable, but it really achieves absolutely nothing and you are one of very few people I have heard from who does not agree that this law is stupid in the extreme, and that includes many Thais I talk to as well.
One other point is I do my shopping using my big motorbike using a rack mounted box on the back. No way could I buy 10 litres of booze let alone with my other needed shopping. Sure we know of course that you can shop at the allotted hours but that is not always convenient for Falangs AND Thais. Sorry but do not bother to reply if you can not see what is meant here. Of course I know also we are guests here in Thailand so have to live by their laws of course but there is no reason not to point out the folly of some totally unnecessary laws that if removed would make most Thais happier too (it is supposed to be a democracy here too you know so they should listen to the Thai people's wished too of course).
If somebody could point out why this law is necessary then please do so, but do not accept it is to prevent sales to underaged persons as there is a basic and firm law against that so this law is unnecessary in that respect for cure, that is a no brainer..
The law is generally ass when it comes to drug control, whether it be alcohol, opium, tobacco or grass. I only go out in the morning & afternoon on the "school run", when you can't buy beer. So, I go to Makro & buy a couple of cases. Problem with having a couple of cases in the house is that it's too easy to "put another one in the freezer" after you've had your quota for the evening. So, you end up drinking more. Yeah, great result from a law to cut alcohol consumption. I could use the Mom & Pop stores, but they're only ok if you like to drink extra strong Chang, cr@ppy Leo or way out of date Heineken, close to to where I live. So, as I said earlier, the law is an ass. What's new?

That is interesting as we saw our first one for the season here just yesterday. Watched him for about ten minutes and he flapped his wings about once. Don't know much about their migration patterns but it sounds like they might take the same disco bus.Was out cycling east of San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai, yesterday. Saw a pied harrier. Mainly white, with black head, & wing tips.
Saw a pair this morning in a different location much closer to town near hwy 1317 . Female have white head?

Maybe an "elegant bronzeback"? They're skinnier, making the head look wider than the body.

my 8 yr old son loves to cycle. He can read maps, so take him along. I'll pick him up in Europe, save on an airfare
More seriously, good luck & hope you do it

Not sure what the OP's point is. There is no practical public transport serving Chiang Mai, unless you live in the centre of town or a couple of minutes walk from the arterial roads leading out of the city. And even then the only available transport is a songteaw, sitting in the back of a covered pickup, breathing in the diesel fumes sucked into the passenger area Happy to hang on to my 2 pickup trucks

I love the way Thais rave about their beloved Jasmine rice, yet, whenever we eat out, the rice is bland white rice, same as most of the population eats. Never eat it at home, much prefer the brown rice or that grown in the hills.
-
Although traffic fumes (as some put it) might be a factor for discomfort, it seems the burning season has started rather early this year.
See the pinned topic by Tywais on this forum for more details on this:
Burning season started at the usual time. After the rice harvest in early December. Not sure why folk seem to think it normally starts later.

Several turf farms here. 18.755354,99.153253
You can either just buy from them, have them deliver or lay it for you.

How far is "too far" for electric? Where I live, farmers run wires several hundred metres from their house to the pump in the fields.

The grass, both types, are grown locally. Prefer the malay grass myself. 1 rai will need a lot of maintenance, especially if in a rural location - wind blown weed seeds

Well good to their word my WT showed up at the dealer yesterday, unfortunately I won't get home for another 10 days so it will have to sit there until then.
