  1. Thanks folks will take your advice...hope i dont suffer from motion sickness..BTW hotels rates all gone up double this time of the year..

Drivers won't suffer, they're too busy focusing on the road. Passengers need not suffer either if they do the same.

Not all hotels have done that in pai. In fact there aren't really many hotels there at all. For those that wish to there are still several places for 200 baht a night. Most places go up about 50%.

I went last week, and i'll just mention that a couple of sections (a few kms each time) have rather potholed roads after the latest rainy season. Clearly they've not got round to filling them in yet. Hope they're not doing that when you're driving up there, or you'll have a long drive.

Pai is still outstanding, and from my experience last weekend the usual numbers of bkk citizens i've seen the last few years are not there. I have heard that they're getting bored with pai, which is good news in my view. I also saw quite a few of the mushroom concrete resorts built to cater to this fickle demand from the capital city shut down. This in mid-nov which definitely qualifies as high season there.

Have a good time, it's a great place.

Try getting kids to focus on the road ahead. Tried it but failed. Only the youngest is a problem, but he has good aim into the bag wink.png

We always keep going through Pai, hate the crowds, hate all those concrete resorts on the main road. The valley looks lovely in the rain season when green, but as soon as it turns brown......

  2. The toy departments in Airport Plaza & KSK. It's pricey.

It's pricey even back in the UK. Bought my grandson some sort of dragon set at nearly 100 quid last Xmas. Rediculous price for Lego bricks.

    No Star Wars? laugh.png

  3. If you have a passenger, tell them to take some motion sickness pills an hour before you leave Chiang Mai...

Or bring a plastic bag. smile.png

And if you've got young kids, bring several plastic bags thumbsup.gif

  4. Has the OP got property to sell in Doi Saket area? laugh.png

Was just wondering why the sudden influx over the last few years - just recently another 3 stunning houses with 'Farangs" involved have been finished - all in the 10 million baht range or more.

People are building out there, because it's not overdeveloped, & want to escape the city. Don't worry, the city will come to them, just like the rest of the valley, in a few years. We're SE of the city, in the countryside, & can see the relentless spread of housing projects towards us, concreting over the rice fields.

  5. Some times "the law is an ass". As foreigners, we can't change the law in Thailand. In about 40 years Thailand may change the law. Let's face it, Thailand is about 40 years behind most "western" thinking regards environmental & driving laws / behaviour. In previous times, the UK was supplying opium to the Chinese. It's all about taxation. Cigarettes & Alcohol are currently the legal drugs of relaxation. In the future that might all change, & home beers brewers will face the wrath of TV's most upstanding members thumbsup.gif

  6. There's a helicopter charter place on the middle ring road, to the east of Big C, Hangdong road. I think that would be a brilliant way to go biggrin.png

The Guy has only posted 13 times and is new why would you be so un kind Grow Up

Unkind? Take a chill pill & get a sense of humour. What do you think the smiley indicates? IMHO, UG is being unkind by recommending the bus sad.png

  7. Maybe if your playing rawk music. Try playing the Orb, Underworld or Leftfield through the speakers. They can't handle the bass, unless you turn the bass right down, which kind of defeats the object. Recommendations on how to improve this? Subwoofer? Don't want to change the audio out.

Cheapest adaption would be a amp with sub . The amp would cut all the low tones from the main speakers ( so they can focus on middle and high tones ) and the bass would be handled by the sub . The amp would also improve control over the main speakers , keeping them more focussed .

The sound is actually good for a standard system , but it isn't a comparison with a real aftermarket system .

Can you hook the amp up to the stock system? I can't do that in my civic unfortunately. Could the amp go under the front seat, and where would you put a sub also, in a pickup?

Under the passenger seat being most common. Can bolt to floor or bracket to the seat so that it slides back/forward staying out of the way.

Sent from Android please allow errors in type or judgment.

Would better speakers improve bass handling? I don't plan on cruising round the hood scaring the old folk wink.png Just that bass heavy music distorts the stock speakers.

  8. Forgot to mention that I reckon the sound system rocks

  9. Farmers are trying to bring in the rice crops and they can't believe it is still raining this often in November.

Tell them it's retribution for the burning earlier this year, & if they keep on burning, then next time it'll be a plague of locusts & hailstorms, not rain biggrin.png

  10. The aircon works great and cools the hot cab rapidly but could do with a speed setting between the current 0 and 1 since night driving can get chilly and noisy if you start closing the facia vents.

Have you tried setting the blower to windscreen setting? I haven't done any night driving or early morning when chilly, so haven't tried this setting. Agree that closing the vents increases the noise sad.png
