Police in Kamphaeng Phet detained a 15-year-old student after shots were fired inside Wachiraprakan School in Muang district on 2 September. No teachers, pupils or other people were injured, provincial police said.
The incident was reported at about 2pm, prompting a response from police and rescue personnel. The student was restrained at the school without anyone being harmed.
Police alerted by radio centre
Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Police said the Nakhon Chum patrol unit was notified by the Chakangrao radio centre of reports of gunfire at Wachiraprakan School.
The report caused alarm among teachers and students at the school. Officers subsequently secured the scene and detained the student.
Police identified the suspect as a 14-year-old pupil in lower secondary education. The student had taken a firearm belonging to a parent, before the shooting, according to the police report.

Parked sedan damaged
Although no injuries or deaths were reported, a sedan parked within the school grounds was damaged.
Its windscreen was penetrated and its bonnet showed marks believed to have been caused by gunfire. Initial police reports indicate that the pupil was said to be suffering from depression and had been warned about his behaviour previously at the school.
The case is being handled in the area covered by Muang Kamphaeng Phet Police Station, whose investigation remains ongoing.
