A 39-year-old British man was taken to hospital with serious knife wounds after an alleged confrontation at an apartment in Soi Khao Talo, Nong Prue, on 28 September.
Police also found around 100 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, known locally as ya ice, in the room he was renting, along with suspected drug-use equipment and syringes.
Lieutenant Colonel Nakhonrat Nonsilat, an investigating officer at Nong Prue Police Station, was notified of the attack at midday. Detectives, patrol officers and Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue workers attended the apartment in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi.
Two injured after reported struggle
Outside the building, officers found 22-year-old Anothai, a ladyboy, seeking help from local residents, with injuries to a hand and fingers.
A long sword was found on the road near the apartment and was retained for examination.
Police and rescuers then entered room 502, where they found the British man, identified only as Scott, lying in a pool of blood. He had wounds from a sharp weapon to his left shoulder and right arm, as well as a serious stab wound to the left side of his abdomen, above the waist.
He was given first aid at the scene before being taken to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
Drugs found in rented room
Inside the room, officers reported signs of a struggle, with bloodstains on the floor and belongings scattered around.
They found a black bag containing zip-lock bags of a substance believed to be crystal meth, weighing about 100 grams. Some of the suspected drugs were also scattered on the bed. Syringes and other items believed to be linked to drug use were seized for forensic testing.
Anothai told police they were in a relationship. He was earlier hallucinating and had appeared paranoid before the confrontation and accused Anothai of stealing the crystal meth.
Anothai claimed he searched her body for drugs and forced her to shower and wash her hair because he believed she may have concealed drugs in her hairstyle.
Police examining CCTV and evidence
According to her initial account, the man continued shouting, detained and assaulted Anothai, leading to a struggle in the room. Anothai took the sword, slashed and stabbed him, then ran downstairs carrying it to seek help.
Police stressed that this was Anothai's account alone and said they were still establishing the sequence of events. CCTV footage and evidence from the room are being examined.
Initial records showed the British man was the tenant of the room. Both injured people have been detained pending further legal procedures, with investigators due to question them in detail once doctors permit it.
Police will also determine who owned the suspected 100 grams of crystal meth before deciding on charges based on the evidence.
