It is hard for a spot to hide in Isann.

And what happened to the Thai mother? Were they married? Was she with him in Buriram? Did she know about the abuse and just let it happen?

There are 'accessories' to other crimes. I think that anyone in a household who has knowledge of such abuse should be charged.

Agree, the village network (also call it gossip), is very alive, and 'never mind' and 'not my business' are not the way it works.

I know from my own Thai son's Thai inlaws. My son's Thai wife has an elder brother who has been jailed twice for short periods for severe domestic violence involving his wife and 3 young children. The rest of the family have aided the police several times to find him and take him in.

It is nice to know that Thailand shouldn't be considered a safe haven for this type of criminal. Can't do too much about surveillance society, so might as well put it to good use...

A German man wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for alleged child sexual abuse offences has been arrested in Buriram province after allegedly hiding in Thailand for several years.

NB So he wasn't doing a lot of timely things.

I think that was just sarcasm.

But yes, the only thing worrying about this arrest is that they guy had been hiding out in Thailand for several years after the red notice was issued.

This current operation to act on red notices is really paying dividends in therms of getting undesirable foreigners out of Thailand. I just hope that it becomes part of standard procedure for the long term and not a short term publicity stunt.

Yes i realize the 90-day thing was sarcasm. But one report I read was that he had been hiding in Thailand for 5 years. How could he do that other than being on complete overstay -- doesn't seem he had recently visited the Buriram IMM office for an extension.
