Irish man found dead in Phuket lagoon

Police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old Irish man whose body was found floating in a lagoon in Phuket's Cherng Talay area on Thursday morning.

The man was identified as Scott John Revie Little, an Irish national. Authorities said the cause of death has not yet been established.

Police received the report at about 11am on 6 August after a foreign man's body was discovered in the Laguna water reservoir in Moo 6, Cherng Talay subdistrict, Thalang district.

Investigation under way

Officers from Cherng Talay Police Station attended the scene alongside forensic officers, a medical examiner and rescuers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation.

Rescue personnel recovered Mr Little's body from the water so it could be examined. Police then carried out an initial examination at the scene.

Investigators have been assigned to gather evidence, check CCTV recordings and speak with witnesses in an effort to establish the circumstances of the death.

No cause of death has been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Embassy contacted over repatriation

Authorities have contacted the Irish Embassy to help with arrangements to repatriate his body.

Cherng Talay, in Thalang district, is close to Phuket's Laguna area, a major resort and residential zone popular with overseas visitors and expatriates.
