Jet ski seized after Bangkok floodwater stunt

A 27-year-old Thai man has received a suspended 15-day jail sentence, a 5,000 baht fine and one year of probation after riding a jet ski through floodwater on New Phetchaburi Road in Bangkok.

The court also ordered the jet ski used in the offence to be confiscated after it was said to have created waves that damaged residents' home fences during flooding.

Court cuts sentence after guilty plea

At 10am on 28 September 2026, investigators from Makkasan Police Station took Mr. Sorn Ketusiri, 27, son of Joy Jamjuree Cherdchom, a former famous actress from the 1990s, to prosecutors at the Office of Special Public Prosecutor for District Cases 2.

Prosecutors then filed the case against him at Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court. He was charged with jointly acting against others in a way that bullied, intimidated or caused nuisance or distress in a public place or in front of the public.

Mr Sorn admitted the charge.

The court found him guilty under Section 397, paragraph two, read with Section 83 of the Criminal Code. It initially imposed one month in prison and a 10,000 baht fine.

However, the court halved the penalty under Section 78 because his confession was considered beneficial to the proceedings. The final sentence was 15 days in prison and a 5,000 baht fine.

One year of probation

The 15-day prison term was suspended for one year. Mr Sorn must remain under probation supervision for the same period, report to a probation officer three times during that time and complete 12 hours of community or public service under Section 56 of the Criminal Code.

If the fine is not paid, enforcement will proceed under Sections 29 and 30 of the Criminal Code.

The court ruled that the jet ski, as property used in committing the offence, should be forfeited.
