Phuket Police Raid Massage Shop Over Underage Prostitution

The operation followed intelligence that the establishment was offering sex with minors, primarily to foreign tourists. An undercover officer posed as a customer and the owner allegedly offered a special “massage” including sexual services for 1,500 baht. She then instructed the 16‑year‑old to provide those services, leading to the arrests.

The owner faces six charges under the Anti‑Human Trafficking Act and the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act. Police have warned other massage shops and entertainment venues that exploiting anyone under 18 is a serious offence, carrying a potential life sentence.

The Daily News reported that the rescued teenager has been placed into victim identification and support procedures. Authorities say they will continue monitoring similar businesses in the area.

I never will forget my very first trip to Thailand (many many years ago) . I was birding in the extreme north. I was tired and checked into an average hotel. It been so long I cannot remember the name of the town now. But, it was pretty good size. After I checked in I waled down the hall for something and passed a huge glass window. Maybe 10 girls were is sitting around chatting and dressed skimpy.. I was pretty green and asked the guy at the window what was up. He said which one do you want? hahaha... Ahhh the old days. And I mean some drop dead gorgeous women... Just beautiful.. Deep South a few years ago I was in a border town birding and I mean the women there were absoutly beautiful.. The Malaysian men were crossing in and the most beautiful women I have ever seen were waiting. If I were into that kind of thing I would bypass Pattaya and Pukett and head straight to the seedy south.. yikes.

I’m sure this goes on and many massage places especially the one there are owned and controlled by the Police here TIT

I still cannot understand the habit/tradition of having half a dozen policemen posing for the camera after an operation. Is it a case of 'Look at me? We are doing the job we are paid to do.' Face gaining? Do we see a group of farm workers posing for a picture, saying, 'Look at us. We have just planted 3 rai of cassava'?

Agree, and it's really nuts when the perpetrator in the picture is pointing to contraband, etc, Like yes, those guns and drugs are mine, these right here,the ones I'm pointing to.

If you ever meet a US Senator ask him to explain. Some old wisdom that has been around long before my time is that one of the most dangerous places in the world is the space between a senator and a camera lens.

Maybe on my on my 2nd trip to Pattaya I arrived at Don Muang Airport in those days. A cab to Pattaya, drop my bags in my room and I had a hot shower to freshen up after a long plane trip. I had to meet a friend in a bar in soi 7 so I waited but he never showed up. After awhile a bar girl sat besides me and I bought her a drink. After several more drinks I asked her if she wanted to go with me, she replied yes so off we went. We both showered and lay on the bed naked. Next thing she's on top of me and I'm fully aroused. We made love several times that day. Next morning we both decided to shower before breakfast. While she was showering I had a look in her small bag and found her ID. Alarm bells started to ring as I knew the cut off date for minors in Thai years. She was 16 yo, so after breakfast I told her that I was going to Vietnam next day. Yes, you're right. The girls in the South are far more beautiful and people are kind and friendly. Another plus: no alcohol at 7/11 and other places.

I’ve lived in Rawai for the last 20 years, back before there was any 7-11 and only two massage shops.

It’s so sad to see how it has become only a slightly less sleazy place than Patong.

Beautiful Nai Harn beach is now over crowded with Russians in the high season, to the extent that it’s pointless going there.

And the traffic is both overwhelming and incredibly dangerous due mainly to big bikes/scooters travelling at speed.

Why do I stay there? Well, I don’t really. I now spend 5 months of the year outside of Thailand at an apartment I bought in another country and a further two months travelling on holidays. I expect I will spend even less time in future in what used to be a lovely quiet corner of Phuket.

Congratulations to Thai tourism, yet another piece of Thailand falls to the god of money by providing sleeze to foreigners.

really? I was in Surat Thani last month (coming from Chiang Mai) and there was a very noticeable lack of good looking women. Lots of fat, really dark skinned, broad large nose and frizzy hair which you never see in the north. Really feels like a different country to me down there and I think many of those people are different ethnicity entirely from the northern Thais.

As they should. Thailand is what it is, but you have to at least try to stamp out underage prostitution.

Fair comment- we all need to draw the line when it comes to very young girls/women

I have no problem with prostitution, it's really no different than being married, or long time lady u support. However, I support it being a legal profession, with all the benefits of a Government or corporate employee. Though the Preachers and Politicians would not allow that. It would place their Gigs is a delicate position.

However, Human Trafficking needs to stop. Underage children trafficking should carry a death sentence.

The hookers on the border are drop dead pretty, I ate lunch with one just out of curiosity and asked her where she was from. From the far north. One I talked to was from Korat. From the little I know about hookers, they were recruited and they are very picky. 20 years ago I had a friend that was a book keeper at a bar in BKK. But, not for foreigners. Strictly rich Thai's. The girls there were hand picked from up north he said. Drop dead gorgeous.

Back then he said they would go to the small towns and just buy the girls from their parents. Now very hush hush, but back then just regular business. And all by Thai's not foreigners.

Change the subject a little. I knew a few very wealthy Thais. They would never get these gals. Most of the guys that were foreigners I knew in Pattaya. Would drag these gals out of the bars. And all the ones I knew had kids back home being raised by mom or grandparents. Back then saving a hoe was popular. Lots of wealthy farang being fleeced big time. Girls in the bars massage parlors where farang went were second tier , third tier.

Not sure how it is now but years ago, I knew several farang that thought their wives were salt of the earth. Only to have the rug pulled out from under them later on.

After traveling quite a bit, I liked Thailand ,but it really was the underbelly of SE Asia.
