A 43-year-old Russian man has been found dead inside a condominium room in Phuket's Kathu district, police said. Authorities believe Maksim Tarasov had been dead for about three days before his body was discovered on 30 August 2026.
Police were alerted at about 9pm to a death in room 24/89 at The Scene condominium in Kathu subdistrict.
Lt Col Natthayan Suphanphong, an investigator at Kathu Police Station, informed station chief Pol Col Chalermchai Hernsawat before going to the property.
No signs of struggle found
Investigators, an on-duty police team, a Kathu district officer and a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital inspected the room.
Tarasov's body was found face down beside the bed in the bedroom. An initial examination found no evidence of a struggle or anything considered suspicious in the room, while his belongings and valuables appeared to be intact.
A forensic doctor estimated that the Russian national had died approximately three days before he was found.
The cause of death has not been established. Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation rescuers took the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed autopsy.
Embassy to be contacted
Police said they will coordinate with the Russian Embassy for Tarasov's relatives to make arrangements concerning his body.
