I don't see Sondhi as a politician. I see him as an ultra-right-wing, nationalist, agitator. He has an agenda. I don't think it's particularly anti-Israeli or Jew. It's the beginning of a broader anti-foreigner campaign - the seeds had already been planted by the negative foreigner news over the last year or so. Not good for any expats here.

I agree its about anti-foreigners in general with probable exceptions such as Chinese. ets.

Bangkok, Thailand, is the most visited city in the world, welcoming over 30 million international visitors annually.

It's the Thais themselves that create most of the street trash. I often see them just throwing their finished drink cups or cans from their motorbikes, or dumping trash by the side of the road.

As for the rich, quality tourists, I think they will spend their money elsewhere. TAT hasn't succeeded in attracting them so far.

One of my Thai friends follows him and shares his FB posts quite often.

He appears to be a professional influencer/social media personality offering his valued opinions on a wide range of issues.

The latest pivot seems to be towards a nationalist agenda.

I think he was at the Israeli Embassy protest earlier today with Sondhi's group.

He seems to be a first class nutcase.

He's a "character" all right.

How this fight against illegal title deeds and other forms of criminality go remain to be seen.

It's not as though the gov't is doing absolutely nothing. They actually seem to be responding to concerns of the local people to a certain extent.

The recent report of a permanent agency to investigate foreigners using Thai proxies in property deals is a good first step.

I think he chose Israel because it's still fresh in the news. I thought the same - that he wouldn't go after Chinese - but at the rally he apparently said the Chinese 'grey market' was next. So I'm pretty sure this is beginning of his latest campaign against all foreigners.

Rather that he wasn’t complaining complaining about the overall damage caused to Thailand and its environment by the tourist industry. And that industry is controlled by Thai’s.

I think that's right, but the main point being made is the Chinese and the current government have no problem in cutting corners if there's a few million baht to be had in a backhander. Two peas in a pod, so to speak. I think Sondhi said he plans to uncover the Chinese 'grey market' next. So let's see. But it's all part of Sondhi's xenophobic nationalist game.

No, my point is he's not satisfied with just Israeli-bashing. He plans to bash many more foreign nationalities. He's just getting started - this isn't only about Israel, that you seem to strongly believe. Sondhi has a much bigger agenda, I'm sure of it.

I can't find any reference to his father with surname "Scott" - seems he's been rubbed from the family tree (at least on the Web). I did see some reference that Chiranuj Bhirombhakdi, with whom Scott had two sons, had divorced. But that's it. Weird.

He is with Sondhi, who many claim has a working relationship with The Peoples Republic of China, so no.

However it is not JUST as simple as ethnicity.

In July there were multiple protests at the Chinese consulate in Chiang Mai. "People's Network to Protect the Kok, Ruak, and Mekong Rivers" about the toxic pollution from Chinese mines in Myanmar poisoning the Kok river. At least two people were injured when Thai police became agitated in one protest. Another had Chinese Consulate security personnel swarming it, taking pictures of all protestors. This does not get much or ANY coverage in mainstream Thai News, obviously. At least one of the organizers and many protestors are of Thai Chinese ethnicity.
