16kg is a lot. At the very least they will hopefully identify the network in Thailand that supplied the drugs. It can’t have just been Somchai standing on a street corner.

Whether the S Africans can do anything about the distribution network in S Africa (assuming that was her destination), is less of a sure thing.

16kg of smack, there's some big money tied up in this one. Highly unlikely she's alone in this, probably a drug mule. The cops have her phone so it shouldn't be long before they nab some others.

A lot of people these days are just looking for a quick payoff and are willing to do absolutely desperate things to achieve that. In this particular case it is very likely that she will never regain anything resembling the quality of life she had prior to this act of utter foolishness and desperation. She will likely spend a very substantial amount of time in prison and her life will never be the same after that. Was it worth the risk? I surely don't think so.

That's a lotta dog food! Will it impact heroin users in South Africa? Not a whit. Legalise the lot.

She was arrested in Phuket, Thailand heading for Entebbe, Uganda, She is a South African. Departing Thailand and was arrested at the baggage drop of area in Phuket Airport. From the notice below, she was heading from Phuket (HKT) to Muscat (MCT) to Addis Abbaba (ADD) to Entebbe (EBB). On many counts, fairly dumb, almost a sacrificial mule IMO as so many points of security scanning and more likelihood of inspection. Wrapping anything in aluminium foil will raise suspicion and probable investigation.
