Michelin has awarded its hotel Key distinction to 71 hotels and resorts in Thailand in its 2026 selection, with six properties receiving the highest three-Key rating.
The global Michelin Key selection was unveiled on September 18 after months of anonymous inspections assessing the overall quality of the guest experience. Thailand's total includes luxury city hotels, beachfront and island resorts, and smaller boutique properties rooted in local culture.
For overseas visitors and expatriates, the list provides another recognised guide when choosing high-end stays for weekend breaks, visiting family or domestic travel. Michelin Keys assess hotels rather than restaurants, and are intended to signal the quality of the complete stay experience.
Six hotels receive three Michelin Keys
Capella Bangkok was promoted to three Keys this year, joining Mandarin Oriental Bangkok and The Siam in the capital.
Capella Bangkok, which opened in 2020 on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River, combines riverside gardens, a pool, restaurants and a spa with rooms and suites offering river views and private balconies.
The other top-rated properties are Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, and Amanpuri in Phuket.
Across the remaining tiers, 22 Thai hotels received two Keys, including one first-time recipient and four properties promoted to that level. A further 43 hotels gained one Key, including 14 first-time recipients.
Resorts and boutique stays recognised
Among the two-Key hotels is Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, a hillside property leading down to a private beach. Its villas have sea views and private infinity pools, while the resort also offers beach, snorkelling and wellness experiences.
One-Key recipient Villa Mahabhirom in Chiang Mai has 14 traditional Thai teak houses in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The homes are individually decorated with antiques and artworks, with gardens and food inspired by local ingredients contributing to its character.
Maison Mystique in Khao Yai also received one Key. The boutique hotel's white facade and European-inspired interiors include The Vivarium Dining Room, Bar Mystere and The Emerald Library Bar.
Chiva-Som Hua Hin Resort, another one-Key property, was recognised for its coastal setting and holistic wellness programmes, spa treatments and accommodation designed around rest, recovery and physical and mental balance.
Worldwide, Michelin's 2026 selection covers 2,832 hotels in 79 destinations: 155 with three Keys, 657 with two Keys and 2,020 with one Key. Michelin added 470 first-time recipients and promoted more than 80 hotels globally.
Michelin also named special-award winners: Desert Rock Resort in Saudi Arabia for architecture and design; Schloss Elmau in Germany for wellness; Airelles Palladio Venice for opening of the year; and Londolozi Game Reserve in South Africa for its local gateway award.
Michelin Guide international director Gwendal Poullennec said hospitality projects were becoming more creative, ambitious and personalised, with independent hoteliers and international groups helping drive change.
