Video: "Spiderman! Spiderman! Does whatever a Thai man can!"

A police CCTV video widely shared online showed the superhero Spiderman coming to the rescue as a motorcyclist took a tumble on a Thai road.

 

Netizens praised the superhero for his quick actions in saving the rider from being run over by other cars.

 

The CCTV - shared by Tha Yang police in Petchaburi province - showed a motorbike being hit as it pulled in front of a pick-up. The rider ended up on the tarmac with his bike wedged under the pick-up that stopped.

 

Then came Spiderman - mysteriously, for some, clutching a handful of garlands.

 

In reality Spiderman on this occasion is well known local celebrity Wasan or "Mark" who sells garlands at the three way intersection on the road south at Tha Yang.

 

He told Manager that he used to be a "likay" performer. When he gave up the travelling troupe life he started selling garlands at the

intersection.

 

He has many outfits. On other days he is a different superhero and sometimes he dresses as a likay performer.

 

Wasan says it helps to boost sales and gives everyone on the road a reason to smile.

 

But on this occasion he said that a lot of people had praised him for running to the scene of the accident and helping the victim.

 

Manager did not report on the outcome of the accident itself - just the superhero.

Well, the video looks like it has been slowed down so the truck might have been travelling fast BUT the bike rider was at the curb and then crossed in front of the truck planning to do a perpendicular "there is no way I will be able to take the next u-turn so I need to cross 3 lanes NOW" move...so "Well done, Spiderman" and "Rider you are a lucky idiot". 

He was Captain America last time I passed by. Been there for years. Always a cheery chap !
