Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
You are correct. I am mixing up the failure to report with balances owing. Yes, the amount in your case would be very small. -

Bangkok Stop Over
As I thought about it, it is possible that they mention the transit visa as that may exempt you from paying the 700 baht departure tax. -

There is no question for you... Because that is what you choose to think or feel. but facts choose responsibilities. The facts do not support what you choose to think. -

5% of CNG Buses Fail Safety Checks After Fatal Fire in Thailand
"Serious defects", i.e. there are another few hundreds with "minor defects" as far as the CNG is concerned? Anyone interested in accruing failing brakes, steering wheel issues - apart from drunk/sleepy Somchais behind the wheels? -

Bad experience using Bolt
Have used Bolt 100s of times (I don't drive so use them 4-6 times a week) & the only problem we've had with them was trying to travel Pattaya - Bangkok during Covid lockdowns when intra-provincial travel was (supposed to be) banned. 1st Driver turned up (Blue & Yellow Fortuner Taxi), stuck the bags in the boot then realised we were going to Bangkok & said he didn't want to go. I messaged the 2nd Driver & explained that we were going to Bangkok so to cancel the ride if he didn't want to take us, he told us he had a mate that would do it, took us to meet him & we got to Bangkok no problem. We were moving from Bangkok to Pattaya at the time so got the contact details of the guy who took us & he ending up taking us back & to a couple of times with no problem. Nowadays, we have the contact details of a Bolt driver we trust so when doing long journeys we call her & arrange a price between us (I usually offer 30-40% more than what Bolt is), if she's not available then her husband (a "Proper" Taxi driver) will take us for the same price. For airport runs it's Nam's Taxi every time. -

Causes of High Electricity Bills in Thai Apartments
A bit off topic but I bought a TCL TV a few years ago and it did not last for much more than a year. So I would be wary of buying any TCL product. I have always done well with electrical products ie still have the same fridge freezer in the kitchen that I bought when I bought my house about 19 years ago, second washing machine, second shower unit. -

King Charles: Australia's Future as a Republic Rests with Its People
Your description suggests Charles Windsor is someone who takes instruction and works tirelessly and selflessly for the betterment of the poor and downtrodden. I think that's more the stuff of his press office than reality. But regardless of his dedication to the less fortunate, the days of kings being brave, strong and fearlessly leading from the front are long gone. If he is all that's standing between equality of opportunity and repression of Australia's First People then there is something fundamentally wrong in your society, and he and his mother have failed in their duty to correct it. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Cheers - it is my intention to use those Annual Tax Statements if ever called upon by TRD to explain why I have not lodged any tax returns in Thailand. TRD contacting me under the current revised tax rules is extremely unlikely (I would say a snowflake in Hell). However, that becomes a whole new ball game when/if they move to a global tax system, and they decide my Pension and Superannuation is taxable income in Thailand - whether those amounts have already been subjected to Australian Taxation (as per the annual Australian Tax Returns). I believe that both The Philippines and Malaysia (and maybe Indonesia too) have made the money that Retired Expats bring into their countries, fully income tax exempt. Not income from employment (as supposed to be retired), but money brought into the country in the form of Pensions, as well as past earnings and retirement investment returns. But only as long as that money has been subjected to the taxation rules of their home country. I think and hope that Thailand will follow their approach - in which case those annual tax statements will also be very useful. Plus many other reasons I cant even think of now. -

LH Invests 5.7 Billion Baht to Elevate Pattaya's Shopping Scene
I'm different, I find nothing of value in places congested with people, the farther I get away from civilization the better. Being stuck here in Bangkok, one of the most congested places on Earth is like living in a nightmare to someone like me. Now if I could only convince my wife and daughter to leave this 5th level of Hell. -

Tell me why Pattaya to BKK by his
I am not quite clear where you are going with this. Some people might save the proverbial dime as they might operate on tighter budgets, others can't deal with the cabbie lobby which is a guild of its own, some come from a background, where you take a taxi only if there is nothing each per available. If you have the time and are afraid that something might go wrong with a taxi, you're better off with the arguably more tedious way to get from A to B 😉 -

Bangkok Stop Over
If you are on a Uk passport you don't need a transit visa, not sure what that is about. I have had a journey break like this many times, just collect your bags, go off to a hotel and then re check in the next day. When you check-in tell them that you will be collecting your bags. The only thing you have to check is if your ticket does not include the 700 baht departure tax you will need to pay that prior to check in. I have stayed at the Dusit Srinakarin several times and there is plenty to do around there, but you could equally take the ARL into the city and grab a hotel there. -
