I used to be a Christian. I’m now an atheist precisely because I did use my brain. I started from the precept everything I had been taught was correct and then I researched with an open mind. 30 years ago, this kind of research would be nigh on impossible. Today with the internet, it’s easy. The clincher for me is philosophy. From the premise that god is all goodness, what would god want from us if he existed? How would he view us? If he were to judge us, what would his criteria be? I call this the test of goodness and it is with this that I judge all religions and find them all lacking. I get that you’re not willing to do this and your blind faith is what you believe in. It’s not without reason it’s called “The Prison of Belief”. If you’re right and I’m wrong. I’m 100% confident when I finally meet your god, he will not find my time on this earth lacking in everything he values and his heaven will be open to me. How many Christians can say that?
