Migrant Arrested for Allegedly Entering Blind Woman's Flat

Featured Replies

A young man in his 20s has been arrested for allegedly barging into a blind woman's home in east London. He was staying at the Britannia Hotel, which has recently become a hotspot for protests. The suspect was detained in Hackney in the early hours of this morning, on suspicion of common assault.

The drama unfolded on Wednesday night. The man reportedly entered the flat after being pursued by a group of men who told him to "go back to the hotel." This comes amidst tensions with anti-migrant protesters gathering outside the hotel. The Met Police have confirmed he is no longer residing at the hotel.

A police spokesperson stated that extensive CCTV checks and witness interviews led to the arrest. The individual is now in police custody.

In a related incident, Channay Augustus, 22, who lives at the same flat, has been charged with several offences. These include possession of an offensive weapon, assault on an emergency worker, and common assault. The altercation at the hotel involved a security guard, not the man in question. Augustus is expected to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court today.

The Britannia Hotel has been the centre of controversy as Tower Hamlets Council handed it to the Home Office to house asylum seekers. Yesterday, a group of 50 migrants arrived at the hotel, hurried inside by guards to avoid the cameras.

Tensions flared last week when anti-migrant protesters clashed with counter-demonstrators. Police intervened, resulting in two arrests: an anti-migrant activist for throwing a bottle and a counter-protester for refusing to remove their face mask. Officers were tasked with keeping peace as both groups gathered in the area, chanting and carrying signs.

Record numbers of migrants have reached the UK, defying Labour's attempts to address the issue. Over 50,000 have arrived since the party took power, with 474 migrants crossing on Monday alone. A new type of larger inflatable boat has been spotted, raising questions about Labour’s strategy to manage illegal crossings.

The previous Rwanda asylum plan from the Conservative government was shelved by Labour. The plan aimed to deter Channel crossings by relocating migrants to Rwanda for processing. This week saw a record 107 migrants crossing on a single larger dinghy, highlighting the ongoing challenge of border control.

You can find his picture on uncensored news media. Looks remarkably similar to the Southport Welsh Choir Boy. The kind of facial expression that has absolutely no moral compass.

And he was only arrested after being initially released following utter outrage from the British public.

Speaking of moral compass, the British Constabulary need to wake up and smell the coffee - they are permitted to administer the law because the British public willingly allow them to do so. Not so much any more. :coffee1:

I hope this guy is monitored closely going forward.

Looked exactly like the Welsh choirboy. I wonder if he was a doctor or an engineer...

Thank goodness the blind lady wasn't killed.

More alarmist nonsense from the white van a English flag brigade. According to reports, he entered the flat on the Isle of Dogs through an open door, possibly seeking safety. There’s no clear evidence indicating specific ill intent, such as intent to harm or steal. However, the incident caused significant distress to the blind woman and her family, who feared for their safety due to the unexpected intrusion. The exact motivation remains unclear beyond the context of him being chased - perhaps by thinkers like yourself?

I’m not sure you can determine his future actions by his looks, maybe that’s a secret super power you have.

We can however determine his accountability for actions he’s already committed.

He’s clearly a criminal.

Refuse his asylum claim on the basis of his action and deport him back to wherever it is he said he was trying to escape from,

No.

By his actions of illegally entering a blind womans flat and subsequently being arrested for assault.

Is he even here legally?

But let's wait until he actually kills someone before doing something.

Not surprised you take the side of this guy instead of the blind woman though. A real feminist.

Where does it say he was arrested for assault? The lead says "In a related incident, Channay Augustus, 22, who lives at the same flat, has been charged with several offences." which to an educated native English speaker refers to someone else?

Read the first paragraph of the OP.

The suspect’s entry into the home and the distress caused could be enough for suspicion, pending further evidence. No where does it say an assault occurred.

Detained on suspicion of assault.

But I'm sure he was just hiding from the nasty white van men (local tradesmen) that so terrify you 😀.

Your username says it all. Limp and scared.

Maybe it didn’t fit with your need to feel aggrieved.

Illegal entry to an abode

Is illegal entry to an abode, and a criminal offence.

How would you describe this look ? Do you think it screams out " I'm here to spread love and happiness " ?

Why is it that so many people have problems reading simple English ?

I would describe illegal entry as illegal entry.

Certainly not the ‘suspicion of assault’ I was discussing.

Feel free to back peddle.

He should have been arrested at the scene for illegal / unauthorized entry to a dwelling.

Now, how about the real questions ?

C'mon, at least have a bash at answering, instead of avoiding and obfuscating.

Dude looks like evil personified.  Like a child soldier who would put a bullet in someone’s head without a second thought.

Anybody who can’t see that….well….birds of a feather

I wonder when this "send him back" nonsense will stop.

I wonder why those "send him back" activists cannot inform themselves about the currant law?

I wonder why do many here on AN are so ill informed?

When you attempt to degenerate people.

It is best not to make such a basic spelling error.

The usual excuse is they did not know whatever sexual offence they committed was illegal, then they need an expensive interpreter in court to say it. As Enoch said, 'we must be mad, litterally mad'
