Dan Robinson, 39, who is originally from Deighton, suffered a stroke where he lives on Ko Tao, an island in the Gulf of Thailand. The former Greenhead College student, who has been living in Thailand for several years, was taken ill on Wednesday - a year to the day since he married his partner Jurait. Following the surgery his insurance would no longer cover for his care. Thank you to those of you wishing him well. My Thai insurance company offered me a "free" flu vaccination. When i signed the bill it showed that they would charge the insurance company about 3,000 Bath for something that in my home country (Sweden) would cost only about 1/4 of that price. Yes and even better if you work and pay 750 bath/ month you can choose 1 private hospital for free treathment and free medicine. If you pay for 6 month and stop working you keep the insurance for 422 baht/month. Ofcause you need workpermit and have to pay tax to be accepted by the social security organization in thailand and it is only for employees. Not for an employer. Maybe he has personal savings but given his critical situation there is no way to access his personal finances. We are all just coming together as a group of family and friends wanting to help a friend in need at a time of need. I probably don't need so much coverage but I've seen so many sad situations like this poor guy..thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Worse for positive outcomes from cancer to childbirth, accidental deaths and emergencies. Only socialist ideologues with little real life experience think any different.
